CHAPTER 3
PYRA’s POV: It's been two days since I got rejected and I've been trying to avoid crossing paths with Alpha Maverick. A few times, he was close to discovering me, but I had experience with escaping people, and I knew every place within the pack, so it was easy to run from him. As I got dressed for the day's chores with the pain of his rejection still looming over my entire being, a knock sounded at the door. A few seconds later, the door opened, one of the other maids piped in as she glared at me. “The headmistress demands our presence now,” she said before I could say anything. Another normal day in the pack house, and by normal day, I meant filled with chores and having to not bump into Alpha Maverick, Natalie, or Connor, which was always hard considering I worked on the same floor they lived on and I had to serve them their food. I didn’t want to get up, but I knew what would happen if I miss today's briefing. We all gathered in the servant quarters, which was an extension of the pack house, where we slept, ate, and had our meetings and redistribution of chores. The headmistress entered the small room and glanced around menacingly; only then did the noise die down. “Today is going to be a busy day for you all. As you all know, The Alpha’s announcement to name his Luna is few days away,” she paused, locking eyes with every one of us. “A party would be held that day, and this packed house must be extra clean and ready before tomorrow morning.” “Each of your duties has been re-distributed, and some might start early to finish before time…” The headmistress continued, but I zoned out because I knew where I would be assigned; the kitchen. The headmistress's eyes locked on mine. "Your duties have been shifted," she said in her usual monotone voice. "You will be in the Alpha Mavericks wing from now on." "What?" She didn't repeat herself because she never liked to, and she walked away. I had been dodging him, only to be locked in the same wing as his. What would happen now? Hours passed by in silence, from cleaning to dusting and searching for no sign of dirt, and finally, I was done with the huge chamber. ‘Only one more place to go’ I thought as I slowly dragged my trolley up the stairs to his office and carefully approached his door. I knocked the first time and then a second time, but still no answer, so I pushed the door open. My nerves were over the roof as I strolled into the room. I took a whiff of the air. The pungent aroma of pine and the forest filled my nose. The entire room reminded me too much of him and the rejection. Trying not to waste this opportunity that the moon goddess had given me, I got to cleaning immediately. I didn't want to be there when he comes back; I'd only make a fool out of myself once again. It took a while before I was finally done, but I wasn't as fast as I thought I was. As the door to the room rattled, I inhaled sharply and held my breath as I watched in fear as the door was pushed open. I stood frozen in place as Alpha Maverick walked and stumbled into the room. His movements were quite weird but I didn't pay much attention to him as he pinned me with those piercing blue eyes. “Pyra…” he whispered. He was so close to me that I could perceive the stench of alcohol on his breath, and I knew he was drunk. I swallowed hard, attempting to find my vocals. "S-Sir I’m almost done with my duty here.” I bowed, avoiding his eyes. He raised an eyebrow, his face still hard as he stared at me with an eerie intensity. "Is that so? Now, your duty is with me.” I pushed myself away from him, trying to take my trolley and get out of there, but his next words stopped me. “Pyra, come here.” I hesitated for a moment, pausing in fear, but he beckoned me again. I approached him warily, my heart pounding in my chest. “Can’t I have a moment with my Luna?” He whispered so close to my ears, sending shivers down my spine. Everything moved so fast, and I couldn't find my voice as he pressed his face into my hair and inhaled deeply. My knees felt like jelly, as they would soon give out from this torment. "I am only here to clean," I stuttered, trying to escape his hold, but my body betrayed me. My words fell on deaf ears as he whispered into my ear, "You are so beautiful." His hot breath sent shivers down my spine, and I couldn't help but grab a hold of his wrist to steady myself from falling. I thought he would have gotten angry, but quite the opposite. I was stunned as his lips pressed against mine. I should have pulled back, but the feeling in my stomach felt so good, I closed my eyes and enjoyed it. “This was wrong, this was wrong,” I chanted in my head, but my body had greater control as I wrapped my hands around his neck, he pulled me by the waist, and I met a hard chest underneath his shirt. His fingers found their way under my vest and undid my bra, kissing the nape of my neck to my clavicle. I resisted the urge to moan, and as he got rid of my shirt, I didn't protest, as every single touch was a spark that set my body ablaze, a fire that could only be quenched by one thing. I didn't know when he had removed his shirt, but I could feel the hard, prominent muscles on him as he drew me closer to him and lifted me by my waist. Instinctively, I wrapped my legs around his waist and arched my back further as he sucked at my nipple. With one hand, he cleared his desk and carefully dropped me on the surface, leaving feathery kisses on every inch of my body. He stopped and straightened up and I inched trying to see why. He pulled my trousers off, and I was left naked. I couldn't bear the embarrassment, thinking he wouldn't like what he saw as he pulled down his pants as well. I trained my gaze up at the ceiling before I was brought back by his kisses, and then he took me. After he was done, he collapsed beside me and fell into a deep slumber. I may have just had the best night of my life. I thought maybe he was going to take his rejection back, maybe he wanted me for real, or maybe the moon goddess did not abandon me like I thought she did. I shouldn't have fallen asleep right next to him, though, but I was too tired to stand up and so, I snuggled closer to him and slept off. ***** I jumped up to the sound of a rough commanding voice, different from the one he had used last night, which scared me. "What the hell are you doing here?" Alpha Maverick glanced around in confusion before it dawned on him that we'd had sex the previous night. "Not a word of this to anyone, do I make myself clear?" His words sent daggers to my heart, and I opened and closed my mouth, like a gaping fish out of water. I didn't get a chance to answer him as I was too scared. "Get out. GET OUT OF MY PACK NOW!" he ordered.CHAPTER 4 PYRA’s POV: I rushed out of the alpha's wing, feeling the tears flow freely down my cheeks. I thought for a second that he had finally come through, that everything would be fine. The way he held me so closely convinced me, although I could smell the alcohol on him. The mate bond tricked me and my delusional mind into thinking that he wanted me. He didn't; it was all a mistake, and none of it was real. With my clothes in my hand and only my underwear for cover, I raced back to my room. It was still dark out, and everyone should have still been in bed. It was easier to run back to my room without being seen, and it would be easier for me to leave in the cover of darkness. I was never even going to stay after what had happened; I wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing that we had sex, and I later found out he never wanted me to begin with. I had been banished. Where I would go was the question I would figure out when I was out of the pack. I stuffed my
CHAPTER 5PYRA's POV:I groggily struggled to open my eyes, feeling the cold sink deep into my bones. No matter how much I tried to open them, to move an inch of my eyelid, they refused to bulge. It was as if they were heavily weighed down by an invisible force like a thousand bricks pressing down on them. 'Was I dead?' I wondered. Was this how the afterworld felt?I felt like a prisoner, imprisoned in my own body. I could remember unquestionably falling to my death off the cliff, the crashing impact with the water's surface, and the excruciating pain that still lingered vividly in my mind.I knew I was dead at that moment since no one could have ever survived that impact. But… the persistent throbbing of my heart and the feeling of the blood mixed with anguish coursing through my veins told me a different story.I realized I wasn't dead after all. The pain and coldness after my rejection were too real and intense to ignore. But where was I? Why was it so cold here?"Wake up, goddam
CHAPTER 6PYRA's POV:“Rhaella.” “Rhae…lla.” Oh No, not again. That same deep voice. I touched the ground, expecting to feel the cold marbled floor, but instead was met with something soft and cool. My memories came flooding back—the torture, the mistletoe, the silver burns. I shuddered, fear creeping up my spine like a slow-moving fog. Just then, I heard the voice calling that same name. “Rhaella.” The voice followed with a piercing howl, sending cold shivers down my spine. I forcefully opened my eyes, feeling confusion creeping in as I pushed upwards and knelt. Shockingly, I was fully healed with no injury in sight. “Where am I?” I croaked, scanning my surroundings. A figure stood before me. It was the same mysterious man, with red hair similar to mine and piercing crimson orbs for eyes. The crescent moon on his shoulder seemed to gleam with a soft light. “You’re closer, Rhaella.” He said, his deep voice echoing through the clearing. “Close to home, close to fulfilling you
CHAPTER 7Maverick’s POVI reviewed the papers on my desk, endeavoring to focus on what lay in front of me, but my mind wandered back to her again. I’ve been plagued by the constant reminder of Pyra. No matter what I did, I couldn’t shake off her crimson eyes and her scent off my head. I sighed as I picked up a file while standing up. The chair scraped loudly against the floor, and I paced around the office. My heavy footsteps echoed off the walls of my office but I couldn’t care less. I only cared about her. My line of sight directed back to my desk— the same spot where I took Pyra. I remembered the soft touch of her pale white skin, her bright piercing eyes boring into mine, and the electricity that sparked whenever our bodies touched. She was too weak to be my mate, yet her fiery spirit lured me into her embrace. Where was she anyway? I haven’t seen her for days now. I walked back to the exact spot and traced my hands where she once lay. I felt hot inside, the memory playing
CHAPTER 8: To Have His Heir NATALIE's POV:I could never get used to this sensation. The taste of absolute control and I basked in it. I triumphed internally as the guards moved out under my single command, and with a satisfying smirk plastered on my face, I knew I loved every bit of this. This was what power felt like; Being able to manipulate anyone and everything with just a single word. I could have just anyone bowing at my feet and worshiping, or else they’d face the consequences. The single thought of anyone taking my place as the Luna of the Fangborn pack didn't bode well with me. It was unbearable to even think about it. Anyone who dares glance at Alpha Maverick so much as in the wrong way would have me to deal with, personally. Not even that pathetic, useless Omega, Pyra, would ever take my rightful position. I was born to be Luna, and that bitch, Pyra, wanted to take my birthright. Let's just say she won't be seen or missed anytime soon.I made sure my brother and the pack
CHAPTER 9: Welcome To FireHeart Pack PYRA's POV: "This is going to be your quarter for the time being," said Veronica, showing me a huge room that was about seven times the size of my former room in my fangborn pack. I marveled at the beauty of this pack. It was large as it was beautiful. "You can clean up here; Luna would like to see you briefly, so we have to hurry up." Veronica showed me to the bathroom and then pointed to the bed where a fresh, clean dress was kept. "You should change into that, Luna loathes dirt with all her being." "And you remain a fascinating mystery to me. You haven't told me your name," smiled Veronica, her eyes bright with curiosity. That's true. I have been watching everything play out in front of me, too shocked to even utter a statement or ponder my own emotions. Looking at Veronica, I understood she was only being cordial but never wanted to hurt me like everyone has done since I was born. "P-py," I struggled to say, but my throat was s
CHAPTER 10: The Only Way Natalie’s POV: I glared at Luna Elodie for destroying everything when I was so close to achieving my goals. My heart raced with panic as I locked eyes with her bright, surprised ones, filled with rage. She had caught me red-handed, and I knew I had to think fast to cover my tracks or risk destroying everything I'd worked for. “Luna. W-what are you doing here?” I stammered softly, trying to sound nonchalant despite the growing panic I felt within and the fact that I was still straddling Maverick’s unconscious body with my legs. I watched Luna Elodie’s eyes narrow as she gazed at the salacious position. I was still stuck with her son as her gaze flickered to Maverick before returning to meet mine. “What the hell have you done, Natalie?” She demanded, her voice dangerously low and menacing. I stood up slowly, strapping my bra to cover my exposed chest while drawing the lace gown to cover my body, though my attempt proved futile. I nervously fo
CHAPTER 11: Start AnewPyra’s POV:I gasped as my eyes snapped open.My heart raced within my chest as I struggled to breathe. I was drenched in sweat, my sheets tangled around my legs. “It was just a nightmare. Only a nightmare.” I chanted softly, trying to reassure myself to let go of my past, but the memories still lingered, haunting me with every step of progress I made. As I laid on my bed, I felt a presence in the room, scrutinizing my every movement. Tucking my hair to the back of my ears, I veered around to see a figure standing in the shadows, watching me ever so closely. I yelped out in shock, almost falling off the bed. It was Luna Verona; she was watching me with her piercing gaze. My skin crawled as I feared she had watched me tremble from my nightmare. What would she think of me now? Would she see me as the coward I truly am and discard me due to my uselessness?“Luna!” I tried to keep my voice steady. “D-do you need me for anything? But she didn't respond. She simp
CHAPTER 185: Seek Retribution Caspian’s POV:Tension filled the small space of the hidden lab as I stared back at the still hard-breathing Ember. I too was breathing hard, exhaustion gripping in as the scent of blood perforated the air. It wasn’t just Ember’s or mine—it was like it was our past, our pain, and our father’s favoritism. My fist clenched beside me, the world spinning around me in a chaos I couldn’t control. Ember was good, I must give her that. She moved like lightning, rage guiding her every step. The blade she held in one hand sliced across my shoulder and I staggered back, my knees nearly giving away. But I didn’t fall.I couldn’t. Not this time. Not when I have people depending on me. Not when I haven’t gotten my retribution. “You’re weak, brother,” she spat, her eyes glowing with the same red madness that burned in our father’s. The way she mentioned the word ‘brother’ I could feel the amount of hatred and anger from that single word. “Always holding back. Alway
CHAPTER 184: His Last Bloodline Third person’s POV: Maverick turned to focus on the spot where Rhaella faced Alpha Duncan in a staring contest. The tension between them was electric.Neither woman nor man blinked, and neither moved. It was as if the entire battlefield had fallen silent, holding its breath for what was about to happen.Maverick watched as Alpha Duncan’s lips curled into a sneer, his posture dripping with disdain. Even with his werewolf hearing, he couldn’t hear the words being spoken between the two amidst the chaos of war. Maverick turned, seeing the outcome of the war. The backups he had called were yet to arrive. It was as if the goddess heard his words because immediately, the ground trembled beneath Maverick’s boots. At first, it was faint — a distant rumble like the stirring of a great beast — but it grew louder, stronger until even the enemy forces stilled in confusion. From the eastern ridge, banners rose into view, catching the dying light of the setting s
CHAPTER 183: A Sibling's Rage Third person’s POV: Caspian’s face still held no emotion as he stared calmly at Ember. Heavy tension filled the air, suffocating and transcending the physical space between them, sinking into their very bones.Ember’s fingers twitched at her sides, anticipating the next action to which she knew would come. She had faced countless combat and never lost even a single one. This one, she definitely would enjoy. She wanted to see how truly strong the son of her Alpha really was. She wanted to damage the privileged boy who never had to work a day in his life and earned a title she could never acquire no matter how hard she tried. While she had worked every day of her life, fighting to get to the top. Caspian’s posture remained relaxed, almost disinterested as if could see straight through the burning rage building inside her. It only fueled Ember’s determination further. She had done everything for the pack. She had bled for the pack. She had clawed her way
CHAPTER 182: Two Lovers, One MindMaverick’s POV:Rhaella stared at me, and I stared back, our eyes fixed on each other as the false Crimson Wolves fell beside us. I felt one jump towards me, its jaw aiming for my throat—but I remained still. There was no fear. There was no hesitation. There was only one powerful thing standing between us; Trust. The moment its fangs should have met flesh, Rhaella moved.Faster than lightning. Faster than the eye could comprehend. I blinked and she was beside me, her hands holding the neck of the false crimson with so much strength I could feel her veins popping from her hands. Using her other hand, she tore through the wolf’s chest, yanking the still-beating heart and slamming the wolf into the ground with a sickening crack. Blood splattered across my cheek, warm and metallic, but I didn’t blink.Because her eyes hadn’t left mine—not even for a second. She stood over the broken body of the wolf-like a goddess carved from vengeance. Her bodysuit g
CHAPTER 181: The Orb Of FateTHIRD PERSON’S POV: Madraya sat in her temple in the FireHeart pack, a place designated solely for her as the high priestess of Flame and Fate. The sacred chamber shimmered with candlelight, the flames dancing like spirits awakened by the storm of war happening in Lunaria. Incense curled into the air, mixing with the ash-scented wind seeping through the ancient stone windows. But yet, even the sacred smoke could not mask the sense of unease that had settled over her heart like a cold shroud. The temple was quiet. Too quiet. But she sat calmly. One would question why a powerful priestess like her would sit under the protection of the FireHeart pack instead of being at the frontlines and burning the furs of her enemy but Madraya knew the war in Lunaria was not one to be won with brute strength alone. That much was certain. She was no ordinary priestess. She was the Oracle of Flame, the Keeper of the Old Prophecies, and the last living Tether to the First
CHAPTER 180: FreedTHIRD PERSON’S POV: Caspian Maoist, the man known as the betrayer and imposter of Steven StoneClaw stood still amidst the chaos. The roars of wolves clashing, the blood-curdling cries of wounded warriors, or near-death warriors and the scent of death laced the air like a suffocating fog. But none of it reached him. Not truly actually. Not as deep as the violent war raging within him. Caspian was frozen—eyes flickering occasionally between the fire-marked banners of the FireHeart pack and the crimson sigils of his birthright, the RedClaws. To them, he was a traitor. To the others, he was a spy.To himself, he was… lost.Truly lost. The perfect facade of Steven StoneClaw had crumbled like ash in the fire. Now the truth was out for all to see—Caspian Maoist, son of Alpha Duncan, heir to a throne of blood and fury. Heir to the throne that shall soon be theirs. Yet, as he watched his pack members tear through warriors he had bled beside, trained beside while still in
CHAPTER 179: Time To KillMaverick’s POV: The warriors of the FireHeart pack waited with stiff posture, their eyes straight ahead as I passed by them. I rushed into Pyra's penthouse of FireHeart, hoping I wasn’t too late. But when I got to the penthouse, Rhaella wasn’t there. “No, no, no.” I turned away, rushing to the halls of the FireHeart pack, shouting to the nearby pack members. “Where’s the Alpha? Where’s my mate?”The pack member opened her mouth to answer, but no sound came. Her eyes widened—fixed on something behind me. I turned, my heart thudding.Luna Verona stood at the top of the staircase, her long blood-red cloak trailing behind her like a storm cloud. Her expression was unreadable, but her eyes—those fierce dark eyes—held something deeper. One I couldn’t decipher. “Where is she?” I demanded before she could even speak. “Where are the kids?”She descended slowly, deliberately, her heeled boots echoing off the stone floor like a countdown to war. “The kids are fine
CHAPTER 178: DUNCAN ALL ALONGPyra’s POV: It all made sense now. Everything, every piece—like shattered glassware slowly forming a whole again. How didn’t I see this? The lies. The secrecy. The way Steven had always been adamant in knowing everything. The way Steven—no, Caspian—always seemed he was holding back a part of himself like he didn’t belong… because he didn’t. He never did. Not here. Not with us.It all made sense why he was a nervous wreck after I told him he must come with me to the RedClaw pack. “You never know what is around you, Alpha Rhaella. You can sit on your throne, thinking all is safe but oblivious that the enemy can be near.” I recalled one of the strange conversations he had with me. At that moment, it didn’t make sense. I didn’t understand then. But now, I see it all. There was an enemy close by, a wolf wearing sheep’s clothing. And he had always been near. Always been by my side. Always been under my roof and I stupidly trusted this enemy. They had alw
CHAPTER 177: Into An AmbushPyra’s POV: My boots struck the earth. Even the dust couldn’t escape my wrath. Dust kicked up behind me in silent protest, but I didn’t stop. I didn’t flinch. I didn’t even blink. My mind was focused on getting to one place and they shall feel my wrath. The bodysuit I wore molded my frame like a second skin. Sleek and dull red. The material shimmered faintly under the dimming light—thick enough to shield me in combat, yet light enough to move without restriction. It was the mark of the crimson Alphas. An armor they wore in times of battles. One that designates fear, not for any weapon, but the fire in our blood. The bodysuit clung to my form like armor, laced with leather straps and reinforced at the joints for agility and stealth. The style was ancient—Myrrakai, they call it, just like in the legends told of my ancestors centuries ago. No one has worn it for centuries, until me. A silver blade was strapped across my back, its hilt still warm from my gr
