ASHLEY

A gasp escaped my lips as my eyes flew open and took in the piercing lights above.

I felt my belly churn and my body throb in pain the moment life returned to me.

“You're awake," a familiar voice came up beside me, and I slowly turned my head to the side to see who it was.

Relief washed over me when I saw Jasper smiling down at me, a stethoscope hanging around his neck.

“Hey," I whispered, my voice barely audible.

He brushed his finger along my hairline and twitched his lips into a smile.

“Do you feel any pain or dizziness?" He asked, his eyes fixed on me as if he were searching for something on my pale face.

“What happened to me?” I asked. My voice was hoarse, and my throat ached as I spoke.

“You slumped down last night. It was the stress, it was messing up with your health," he muttered and sighed loudly.

I let out a sigh and turned my head to the other side, gripping the side of the bed as the uneventful events of the past few days came rushing into my head.
