Liz POV

I rush out of Nico’s office with a newfound sense of purpose.  I have done what was asked of me, and now my family will be safe.

I head down the hall with a bounce in my step until Tracy turns the corner and glares at me.

"There you are, finally," she says with a sneer on her lips.  "You don’t start working late like today ever again, understand?"

Tracy thrusts a worn Omega’s uniform into my hands.  “You will need this.”

I open my mouth, but she is clearly not waiting for an answer. She looks me up and down with an air of disgust, and I fidget uncomfortably in the too-small uniform.  She shoves a bucket and rag into my hands.

"Start with the windows," she says before she begins to walk away.

"Wait!" I call after her, having an awkward panic attack.

Tracy turns and gives me an annoyed look.  "What?"

"I am not an Omega," I say quickly, “I think there has been some sort of misunderstanding...”

"You are the new Luna of this pack," Tracy snaps back at me.

I let out a sigh of relief and set the bucket and rag on the floor.  Maybe she will listen to what I have to say.

“...and the love of our Alpha, the apple of his eye, huh?”

Her unnecessary sour tone freezes me, and I stare at her blunt attack in shock, not sure how to respond. No one has ever talked to me like that in my life! Anger and humiliation turn my ears red.

Tracy lets out a sarcastic snort. "Until there is a mark on your neck, you are nothing more than another servant in this house.  Just because you sleep in the Alpha's bed does not make you his mate."

Embarrassment washes over me.  "I am not sleeping in his bed," I whisper.

"Keep telling yourself that," Tracy laughs.  "He will toss you to the side just like all the others.  Until then, you will earn your keep.  Alpha’s orders."

I understand the uniform now. It’s not just his humiliation, but his attitude – he is declaring that I don’t belong here. He wants me gone. I would have left if I had any other choice!

Looking at Tracy, I see what a dark life awaits me. I can’t give in. I am backed against the wall, and I am unable to move.

“I am not an Omega,” I hiss through my teeth.

Tracy grabs a handful of my hair and pulls me in close to her face.  “You are what Alpha Deimos says you are.  You were given an Omega uniform for a reason.”

Tracy lets go of my hair and pushes me up against the wall.  The back of my head hits the wall, and a headache pulsates through my skull.  But I refuse to show this bitch any sort of weakness.

“As you said, he hasn’t tossed me aside, so until then, I’m still his lawfully married wife.” I try to give a gust to my voice, but it sounds less intimidating than I planned.

“You dare disobey me again, Omega?!” Tracy hisses at me. Now HER voice sounds intimidating, like how I wanted mine to be.

"I am the daughter of Osiris Wilks," I snap at her.  "I am not an Omega, and I won’t be treated like one–"

Tracy raises her hand and lands a slap on my face with her claw! Her move is so fast I didn’t even have time to dodge. It’s the first time anyone ever slapped me. The humiliation burns more than the pain, and I lost it!

I push her as hard as I can before I wipe my face, only to realize it wasn’t tears dripping down but blood! Then, before I can make another move, she swipes her claws across my chest.  I look down at the Omega uniform that is still in my hand, and blood is soaking onto it as I hold it to my chest.

"Are you ready to do as you are told?" Tracy hisses at me as I cover my head and squat to dodge any more attacks.

Tracy grabs me around the neck and pushes me up against the wall.  She is much stronger than I expected her to be.  Her claws dig into the skin of my throat, and I whimper in pain.

An evil smile spreads across her face as she relishes in my pain.  "You are useless without a wolf," she snarls at me.  "Alpha Deimos will never mark you."

I try to turn my neck out of her hold, but Tracy only digs her claws tighter.  I claw at her hand, trying to break free, but she refuses to let me go.

"Are you going to listen?" She asks me again.

The thought of submission burns me, but I can’t do anything else.  She is right.  Without a wolf, I am useless.  It is no wonder my parents never trained me to fight.

I strain to nod my head. Tracy releases me from her grip, and I crumple to the ground.  I expect her to leave me alone, but I am sorely mistaken.  She kicks me in the ribs, and I feel them crack.  I curl up into a ball on the ground, trying to protect myself from her oncoming attacks.  Tracy kicks me several more times.  The last blow hits me on my cheek, and I cry out in pain.

Grabbing me by the hair, she pulls me to my feet and shoves the bucket and rag in my direction.  "Start with the windows downstairs," she hisses at me.

I gingerly reach down and try to pick up the bucket, but the pain in my ribs is too much.  The bucket drops to the ground, and the water splashes all over the floor.  Tracy growls loudly and slaps me across the face.

"You stupid girl," she growls.  "Clean this up!"

Tears well up in my eyes as I drop to my knees and try to mop up the water with the small rag.  I don't dare to look up at Tracy, who is looming over me.  I am defeated.

I look at the mess of water still on the floor and begin to cry. I sit back on the floor and draw my knees to my chest. Only this morning, an indifferent husband was my biggest problem, but I don’t even know how I can get through this day without taking another beating.

I am sobbing so loudly I do not hear the footsteps approaching me, but I see a pair of shiny black boots standing in front of me.

“Get off the ground,” Deimos’s cold voice commands me.

I look up at him, and his dark eyes are glaring down at me.  I attempt to get to my feet, but when I do, I sway from side to side.  The pain in my ribs is excruciating, and dark spots fill my vision.  Bracing myself against the wall, I try to stop myself from falling to the ground.

As I sink to the ground, Deimos wraps his arms around me just before I hit the ground.  I peer into his eyes before I am consumed by darkness.

Liz POV I am staring out of the window with a checklist in my hands. Each item on the list has been checked several times. There is nothing else that I need to do. The Lunar Ball is already underway. From my window, I can see groups of people slowly making their way into the town hall that has been transformed into a ballroom. It has already been decided that I will be arriving last, even after the royal Lycan family. Stepping away from the window, I check my makeup in the reflection of the mirror. My face is still round from being pregnant, and my belly is still swollen. Thankfully, the dress that Stella picked out for me hides my round figure. I almost look normal. A quiet knock on my bedroom door pulls me from my reflection. “Come in.” The door only opens slightly, and my sister, Belle, squeezes through. I expected to see her in a ballgown, ready to join the party, but she is not dressed for the occasion. She is in her leather fighting gear. Her hair is pulled ba

Liz POVThe sun is warm on my face, and my eyes flutter open. A blue sky spotted with fluffy, white clouds comes into view. I lay my hand on my stomach, and it is flat. No trace of my pregnancy. Quickly, I get to my feet and look around. Once again, I am in the clearing behind the Moonstone Pack house. The place where my parents died. Everything feels warm and inviting. Is this what death feels like?A woman walks in my direction, and I immediately know who she is. “Mom,” I call out as I run toward her. I reach out my arms to embrace her, but my hands move through her body like she is made of mist. Looking between my hands and my birth mother, I am confused. “Why can’t I touch you?” I cry. My birth mother lets out a sharp sigh and wipes the tears falling from her eyes. “Now is not your time.” “I’m not dead?” I whisper. “You are stuck between this life and the next,” my birth mother explains. “You have a choice. You can stay here in the afterlife. Or you can fight to

Liz POV Six Months Later I have been staring at this screen for so long that my eyes are starting to go crossed. Since the battle, there has been so much to do. Each of the rogues that was detained has been questioned and subsequently put to death. As much as I hated to admit it, Faris Jr was right. A precedent had to be set that we were not a pack to be challenged. As if there wasn’t enough on my plate, Faris Jr decided that the next Lunar Ball would be held at our pack. It is only a few weeks away, and almost all of the planning has been done. I slam the screen of my laptop shut and pinch the bridge of my nose painfully. The pup growing inside of me kicks me roughly, and I groan uncomfortably. My stomach has grown to an enormous size over the past six months. Just when I didn’t think it was possible for me to get any bigger, I did. Bracing my hands on the arms of my chair, I struggle to push myself out of the office seat. As I am attempting to stand, someone knocks o

Deimos POVI know I am leaning heavily on Elizabeth as we make our way out of the forest. My arm is flung over her shoulder, and she is struggling to keep me on my feet. But she doesn’t give up, and she doesn’t complain. As soon as we break through the tree line, I see medics running toward us. Elizabeth lets out a sigh of relief, but I am not ready to go to the hospital. As Alpha of the pack, I need to oversee the cleanup of the battle. The medics take me from Elizabeth. They try to make me lie down on a stretcher, but I refuse. “I need to see my men.”“Alpha,” one of the medics tries to reason with me. “You are injured.” “I am not dying,” I groan at the medic, and I struggle to make my way up the hill to the pack house. My hands claw at the ground in front of me as I try to make it to the top of the hill. I can hear Elizabeth groan behind me, and she wraps her arm around my waist to help me to the pack house. “You really need to be seen,” she hisses under her breath. “La

  • Game of Power: The Adopted Luna's Redemption    Chapter 107

Liz POV I don’t look over my shoulder to see what Faris Jr is doing, but by the look on Nico’s wolf’s face, it is horrific. I can tell that Nico’s wolf wants to run from the Lycan King, but something is keeping him here. He has to know that this is a battle he cannot win, but it appears he is willing to die trying. Something furry brushes up against my leg, and I glance down to see Duko standing at my side. He looks awful. Deep cuts are oozing across his black fur, and chunks of flesh are missing from his body. I don’t know how he is still standing. ‘I’ve got it from here,’ Deimos voice breaks through my mind. But I don’t move from my protective stance. ‘You are injured.’ ‘I have been worse,’ Deimos lies to me. ‘This is my fight, not yours.’ I know I have to back away. Deimos needs to be the one to kill his father. After everything he has been through, he deserves that much. Nico’s wolf is pawing at the ground, growling at Duko. They are getting ready to attack ea

Liz POV “You can run, but you can’t hide,” Nico calls out from behind me. “I know these woods like the back of my hand. I will find you.” Panic and adrenaline are coursing through my veins as I slip between the trees. I duck under low branches and squeeze through narrow tree openings. Trying to find any way to slow Nico down. My feet are slipping on the fallen leaves as I run, but I try not to let it slow me down. I have never done much training, and I am beginning to get winded. ‘I don’t know how much longer I can run,’ I whine to Majesty. ‘You just have to keep going for a little longer,’ she encourages me. ‘Our mate is on his way. I can sense it.’ I don’t dare look over my shoulder as I flee. I don’t want to know how close Nico is to catching me. He is faster and stronger than I am. I may have been able to take down Brittany with just my claws, but I won’t be able to take on Nico alone. I trip over a fallen branch and tumble onto the ground. Glancing over my s
