Marco’s POV

Michelle’s message appears on my phone while I sit alone in the back room of the bar, a place that smells of old wood, spilled alcohol, and sweat, the kind of place people forget easily, and the moment I read her words, a quiet, dangerous calm settles over me instead of relief.

"Be ready, I will open the gates as soon as I can."

I do not respond. I do not even move at first. I simply sit there, staring at the screen, listening to the noise from the front of the bar bleed through the walls in dull waves of laughter, music, and careless voices, and all I can think is that nothing about this feels right, not the timing, not the confidence in her words, not the silence from my men, and certainly not the fact that Logan Rossi is hosting a party while knowing I am in the same city. That alone should have warned me.

Logan does nothing without reason, and he never relaxes when there is danger close, which means that if he looks relaxed tonight, if his house is full of guests, lig

  • Game over.    I underestimated her

Michelle’s POVI move toward the gates, my heels clicking against the marble floor, my fingers twitching as I glance at my phone for the hundredth time. The message to Marco, “I will open the gates as soon as I can,” seems almost desperate now, but he hasn’t replied. Not a word. No sign that he’s even coming. I tell myself he’s on his way, moving carefully, making his way to the estate to meet me. That has to be it. He wouldn’t ignore me if he didn’t trust me, would he?My confidence begins to crack as I approach the first set of guards, a small, polite smile plastered across my face, and I lean just close enough to brush my hand against one of their arms, whispering, “Could you let me through? I need to check on something outside.” I flirt subtly, letting my voice drop a notch, letting my eyes linger, hoping my charm will work. The first guard shakes his head politely, stepping back, and I can feel a bead of sweat starting to trickle down my temple.I try again, moving to another gua

  • Game over.    I cannot get close to her!

Michelle's POVThe house was everything it should have been for a party like this, full of light that bounced off the crystal chandeliers, full of music that flowed through the walls like liquid energy, full of laughter and clinking glasses, the kind of celebration that makes everyone feel safe, confident, and completely unaware that danger could be anywhere, even in a house as carefully guarded as this one. As I walked through the front doors, my smile was carefully placed on my face, smooth and natural, the kind of smile that made people believe I belonged here, that made them think I was simply a friend, a guest, someone harmless who had nothing more than polite intentions, and all the while, every instinct in my body was focused on the one thing that mattered: getting close to Madeline and the children, finding a way in, and preparing for Marco to make his move, because this night was meant to be the beginning of everything falling into place exactly as we had planned.I adjusted

  • Game over.    Someone betrayed me.

Marco’s POV“Our men did not reach the house,” Michelle texts me.I read the message slowly while I sit in the back room of a small bar on the edge of the city, a place most people never look at twice, where the walls are stained with old smoke and spilled alcohol, and the noise from the bar outside is loud enough to swallow any conversation that happens in here. This is exactly why I chose this place, because Logan would never expect me to hide somewhere so ordinary, so dirty, surrounded by drunk men and loud music, instead of a clean hotel room or a guarded house where someone like me is supposed to be.The light above me flickers as I lower my phone, and although I already knew this outcome, seeing it written so plainly makes something cold and sharp settle deeper into my chest. Michelle is at the party right now, walking through Logan’s house like she belongs there, smiling at guests, pretending she is nothing more than an old friend invited out of kindness, while my men are gone,

  • Game over.    The ambush.

Tony's POVI have been in this life long enough to know that the quiet moments are the most dangerous ones. When everything looks calm, that is usually when something goes wrong. Tonight, everything feels too quiet, and that makes me alert. Logan trusted me with this job, and I will not fail him. Not tonight. Not when his family is at risk.We arrive at the industrial site early, just as planned. The place is empty, exactly how Logan wanted it. No workers, no trucks moving around, no noise except the wind and the distant sound of traffic far away. The buildings stand dark and silent, like they are watching us. My men take their positions without a word. Everyone knows what to do. We have gone over this plan more than once.I watch the road closely. Marco’s men think they are smart. They think using one of our suppliers’ vans will give them easy access. They think they will drive right onto Logan’s property without anyone stopping them. That alone tells me how much they underestimate u

  • Game over.    Telling Maddie everything we know.

Logan’s POV“I didn’t want you to worry, honey,” I say softly. “I didn’t want you to think that you and the children would be in danger and not enjoy your party. I love you. I was trying to protect you from everything and everyone, but I was wrong to keep you in the dark. There is a trap for them, and I will tell you everything we are planning.”Madeline looks at me with those sharp eyes of hers, the same eyes that miss nothing. She has always been strong, even when she is scared, and right now I can see both in her face.“So tell me what they are planning,” she says. “I want to know what is going to happen, and I want to know if they are going to come onto our property and if my children will be in danger.”I take a deep breath. There is no point in hiding anything now. She deserves to know everything.“They are planning to use one of our suppliers’ vans to get onto the property,” I say. “They think they can blend in and pass through the gates without raising suspicion. But we are no
