Xavier;
He stared with casual demeanor at the lady in front of him taking seductive strides towards him with the sly grin not leaving her face, the girl- what’s her name? he couldn't remember The Lady knew she had to do a good job if she wanted him to herself. She tangled a piece of her hair against her index finger as she bit her lips, looking intently at him. She couldn't wait to run her hands through his well-groomed taper fade haircut, messing it up to her satisfaction. His green eyes held indifference, but that didn't stop her. She had a mission and was determined to pull through.She grabbed him by the tie as she giggled slightly. She spread her legs, placing her thigh against his lap. When she was finally settled, she began to glide slowly and precisely, making sure he was leaning against the chair. His face still held nothing.She seems to begin to panic slightly. This was an opportunity that was finally given to her, but she was messing it up.XAVIER FELT NOTHING. The feeling of Apathy that washed through him was immense. No matter how he tried, it wasn't working. He looked intently into her panicked-filled brown eyes. The concupiscent feeling that he had expected wasn't coming through, instead, he felt irritation course through him. He couldn't take it anymore, he sat up and that gave her a cue to get up.Elbow on his lap, fingers against his head, he bowed slightly, exhaling sharply.“ I will send you your paycheck, you may leave now” he demanded. He needed to be alone.“Are you serious, Xavier?” she voiced out. Xavier couldn't fail to sense the hurt and anger her voice produced. "A paycheck? "“leave, now!,” he snapped harshly at her.Before she left, she sighed in frustration “What is your problem, Xavier? If you wanted to avoid doing anything, then why send for me? To humiliate me?”And that’s also a question Xavier wants to ask.How did he get into this mess in the first place? He thought inwardly,concurrently undoing his tie and flung it on his bed.If his father wasn't such a pain in the ass who wanted him to get a wife before handing his company over to him, he wouldn't be doing this.When finally alone, Xavier ran his hand through his brunette hair, rummaging through it, roughly. What could he do? Was the question that constantly kept going to and fro in his mind. Hardik was a company he couldn't cancel out. He wanted it, and there was no way he was going to get it if he didn't prove himself.Exhaling sharply through his mouth, Xavier decided to leave. He stood up from the couch in his room and made his way out.Lucas, black-haired, gray eyes and tall masculine figure stood by the hallway, with his eyes fixed on his phone. It took him a while to finally realize that Xavier was out of the room. He raised his head after some time as his eyes immediately widened in amusement, accompanied by a smirk that crept into the right side of his lips.“I thought she said you guys didn't do anything?” he asked with partially cocked eyebrows, accessing Xavier's slightly unbuttoned shirt, down to his missing tie, accompanied by his messy hair.“Trust me, nothing happened,” Xavier reassured, adjusting the buttons of his shirt, exhaling sharply in exasperation.“Xavier, nothing happened?” Lucas asked in disbelief.“That's the same thing she said”“Why?”“You know why”“Erica has to be like the hottest girl I have ever seen, and I thought it would be easier because she is everyone's type“Well your plan didn't work" Xavier sighed in frustration “Well can you blame me?”“I should blame myself instead?”“If you were into both genders, it would have been so much easier for us”“Don't you dare pin this on me” he snapped and Lucas groaned in frustration.It was obvious that Lucas’ idea of having numerous sexual experiments with random girls wasn't going to work out. Xavier considered sticking to the original plan and that was, getting a wife for a year. That way, he wouldn't have to prove to anyone that he was heterosexual. A wife for a year would be a good convincing tool for his family. They could divorce after a year and everything would fall back in place. He would finally have Hardik company for himself. If his father hadn't made unnecessary demands for him to get married before the family's company is issued to him, then all this won't be happening.“Let's go with my idea” Xavier blurted out“Common, a wife for a year? Does that sound right to you"“Are you going to help me or not?”“one year is too little to convince dad”“What do you want, 15 years?”“Well that could actually be more effective," Lucas teased.“Lucas get serious. Help me get a wife”“A marriage without sexual affair, which lady would take that?”“There are thousands of ladies in California that would jump on that opportunity at the mention of the price,” Xavier said with so much assurance in his voice.Lucas exhaled deeply, leaning against the wall with his head pushed backward“Why does it feel like I am being forced to do this”"I need Hardik Lucas"“I know but why can't we just try once more?” Lucas decided to push more.“Theresa, Stella, Anne, Ava, Erica" Xavier counted with his fingers. How many more do we have to experiment on? It won't work and you know it”“It's going to be hard to get a wife for you. Do you expect me to print out flyers, hold a big banner and a megaphone on the Streets, chanting around, looking for a suitable bride?” He said. Xavier breathed in sharply, walking slowly towards him. He stopped in front of Lucas, bending to his level.“I trust you would do a good job” he whispered into Lucas's ear as he tapped him lightly on his cheek before turning to leave.Amelia looked at him in skepticism as he kept on going. The offer was tantalizing, but she wasn't buying it. She needed money, that was her ultimate priority, but she couldn't just jump on the offer because it has d good terms.“So, what do you think?” the gentleman in front of her asked, snapping his fingers in her face, bringing her back from little doubt paradise. He must have realized that she wasn't listening.“Who is getting married?” She asked. That had to be the first statement that made its way out of her mouth after a long time of silence.“Xavier Garcia”“And he wants a wife, only for a year, why?”“Reasons best known to him,” he shrugged at her“No sexual intimacy?”“I already stated that”“Why me and how did you find me?”“I have been to 16 restaurants in the past 2 days”“Searching for a girl?”“Exactly”“Why didn't you pick one from the sixteen restaurants you went to”“It pretty hard to convince people who live in California”“And you just think I looked stupid enough”
Chapter 4****************Amelia looked down at her worn-out jean trousers as his peering eyes were boring holes into her. She never really ceased to amaze herself. A couple of days back, she had been screaming negatively regarding the whole deal, but here she was, waiting patiently for her supposed interview.She hadn't told anyone about it. Scrap that, she didn't have anybody to tell about her new move. Apart from Wendy, her best friend who didn't know anything about it. No family member to take advice from and no one to give her a motherly view regarding the contract, judging from the fact that her mother died in an accident that occurred 10 years ago. Amelia acted okay, but deep down, she still felt the sting that the wounds in her heart brought. The memory was still fresh in her head because she was in the car when the accident happened. It was raining that day. Her mum wasn't with her glasses, and that was partly Amelia's fault. ****Flashback******"Amelia, please grab my glass
“It's a marriage, and you don't expect me to jump into it without at least knowing anything about it” He leaned back on his couch, taking a sip from his glass. Bacardi, to be precise. “Everything will be stated in the contract” “The contract isn't enough. I would like to know more about you”. “I'm Xavier Garcia, I assume you already know” “No, I want to know more than just your name” she sighed. He was being impossible and that wasn't helping. “You haven't even asked to know anything about me. I thought this was supposed to be an interview”. “No one stated that it was going to be an interview. The offer clearly stated marriage, and you meet my standards”. “I thought you said I wasn't your type” she smirked, squaring her shoulder “And you still aren't” “But…” She sighed in frustration. “Never mind. How will the marriage take place?”. “As soon as you sign the contract, you would be moving in with me, and we shall begin the marriage plans. You would have to see my parents first,
“Who are you getting married to?”. Wendy asked in a calmer tone.“Uhmm, a certain” Amelia squinted her eyes as she racked her head trying her best to remember his name. “Xavier Garcia” she finally blurted out and Wendy's face widened in astonishment “Who?” She asked again, as though she didn't get what Amelia had said. “Xavier Garcia” “Oh my God, Ami” was the only word that could make its way out of her puzzled lips as she looked at confused Amelia“This is unbelievable” she exclaimed and ran out of the kitchen to her room, leaving Amelia perplexed. She returned shortly with her laptop in her hands, laid it on the kitchen cabinets, and beckoned on Amelia.“Is this him?” she pointed at the screen and Amelia immediately recognized him. It was a picture of him in what seemed like a red carpet-event. He had on a blue tuxedo, with one hand dipped into his pocket and the other on his tie. His eyes were transfixed directly on the camera and for some reason, Amelia felt like he was looking
*****Different feelings erupted inside her as soon as he blurted out those words. 'Xavier's wife' that word, in particular, kept on ringing in her head. She couldn't face the fact that she was getting married. The thrills began coursing through her body just by thinking about it. The reality of her being married finally hit her. All this while she hadn't been thinking of the marriage itself and all, she just kept her mind circulated with the before-marriage details, leaving out what might happen during the one-year agreement. The thought of leaving her name, Wilson, and bearing Garcia stirred something in her, but she couldn't decipher what. She would be appearing in media and all as his newly wedded wife. That was the reality she wasn't ready to face.It was quite surprising how she had already started adopting a certain kind of trust for him, even without knowing much about him. She believed him so much when he said there would be no sexual activities, and it was something she rar
As Xavier gazed at her, she longed to know what went on in his head. He was at it again. He was trapping her with his gaze. She felt powerless as she gaped back into those green eyes that couldn't be unraveled. The way he stayed silent drove her insane. The situation soon changed from a usual quietness to an uneasy one. She looked down at the floor, her sight drawn away from his scorching glare.“Meet me downstairs,” he instructed coldly, turning to leave, but he suddenly stopped “and also, next time you feel crazy, shut the door. Some actions are painful to watch,” he said with his back still turned against her. She bit her lips nervously waiting for him to leave, so she could bang her head against the wall or something to punish herself for her folly.The time finally came, he left the room, and she abruptly grabbed a pillow that lay on the bed, screamed into it, taking her anger out on it. She ran her hands through her hair, messing it up. *So much for giving off a better impressi
“Wedding dress, check” Amelia mumbled, lying comfortably on her bed, staring at the chandelier that hung on the ceiling. “Meeting his parents” she hesitated. “Not checked”The thought of meeting his parents made her sick to the stomach. Being with rich people was something she had never done in her life. She wasn't only going to meet with them, but also dine with them, chat with them, and probably sleep over for a few days. Xavier didn't make that part a certainty, but she knew it was likely going to happen. There was no way they wouldn't want to know more about her. A thorough assessment would be done, and she wondered how she would cope with that. Xavier had already asked her to work on her acting skills. That, she was excellent at, but she was most definitely not good at lying. It was one of her biggest weaknessesTossing to the other side of the bed, she sighed in exasperation. Subsequently, the thought of Wendy brushed through her mind. She hadn't called her since she got here,
Amelia felt her heartbeat increase rapidly as the car came to a halt. Her nervousness knew no bounds as her hands trembled, Already getting cold.Cosmos switched off the engine and was about to get off the car to open the car door for the both of them, but Xavier stopped himHe turned to look at her and spoke. “Remember, acting is key, baby,” he said with a smirk, and she smiled nervously*He just called her a pet name* her inner self screamed for joy. Even though he was most likely testing out his acting skills on her, she still felt the heat when the words flowed out of his lips.Amelia, after seeing that Cosmos had already been stopped from opening the door, decided to make it out herself. She never liked the idea of Cosmos helping her with car doors when both her hands were functioning properly. Hands on the door handle, she was about to make it out when Xavier tapped her on the shoulder, stopping her. She looked at him confusingly as he made his way out through the door. It took
