'Run, my little one,' Athena cried out. 'Don't stop running.'

Branches clawed at my face as I ran through the underbush, my lungs burning, my legs begging and screaming for mercy. But I didn’t stop. I couldn’t stop.

The sound of snapping twigs behind me was too close... closer than it should have been.

He was gaining in on me.

"Mistress" he called out again "I'm going to get you.. Mistress, all you have to do is call my name but then again what wolf doesn't like being chased?"

I turned around one more time to see if he was close and my foot caught on something and I crashed hard to the ground. Pain went up my side like fire licking bone. The air rushed out from my lungs with a guttural grunt.

"Ahhh!!" I screamed in pain as the hot tears stood at my eyes, threatening to fall.

“Get up!” Athena’s voice snapped through my mind like a whip. “You are not weak, Kira. You are mine. A child born of destiny, and no child of mine is weak so get up and run.”

“I.. I can’t.. I really can't...” I

KIRA'S POVAsher cursed under this breath, and pulled away from me slightly, letting us out from our hiding place. He marched to Mira, who looked surprised to see us. "What the hell are you doing here?" Asher hissed at her. "I saw you go after Kira, and came to take you back to the pack," Mira replied. "Why did you follow her here? Do you want to die?" Asher snorted. "Oh, please. Don't pretend as if you'd care if I died." "Of course I'd care," Mira snapped back. "Do you think I want to raise our baby alone? Even if you constantly toss me aside for Kira, does our child deserve to grow up without a father because of her?" I sighed, and Mira shot me an apologetic look. "I didn't mean that in a bad way, Kira," she said. "I'm just worried about him." I nodded. "I understand. And you're right. He shouldn't be here. You shouldn't be here either. It's dangerous for both of you." Mira looked skeptical as she glanced around the dark forest. "But...are you sure you want to do this? I me

KIRA'S POVNight fell quickly. Mom was worried, and had tried to convince me to leave Blackthorn Pack with her, but I refused. I had to see Dante. There were so many answers I needed and only he could provide them. I needed to know exactly what happened to my Lycan, if I truly had one. And from what I heard, Dante needed me too, or more people would die. Everyone was here. Mira, her parents, King Jon, Vicktor, and Mom. We were all tense, waiting to see what would happen. About thirty minutes ago, we had received a report from one of the scouts that a half-shifted Lycan was getting close to the pack, and he seemed to have a set destination in mind. The palace. People had been instructed to remain indoors, and the guards had been warned to stay away from him. All we could do was watch and wait. We were standing on the wall that fenced most of the pack in. The wall was close to the borders of the pack and overlooked the woods where the temple of the Moon Goddess was located. "How

A knock sounded at the bedroom door a short while after Mom left."Come in," I said weakly, hoping that whoever was doing the knocking could hear me through two doors. The bedroom door was pushed open, and someone stepped inside. "Miss?" I heard a voice call. "In here," I directed. Seconds later, an unfamiliar girl appeared at the bedroom doorway holding a tray of food. "Um... Lady Reika asked me to bring this here for you. Would you like to..." She trailed off. I nodded. "I'll eat it in here." She nodded too, then disappeared into the bedroom. A moment later, she reappeared with a high stool which she set down by the side of the tub, then set the tray of food on it. She kept her eyes discreetly averted from my body, but I didn't care. A while ago, I would have been self conscious, but now, I just wanted this to end. "Did something happen out there?" I asked her before she could leave. "Where is my mother?" "Um... I'm not sure where she is now, but she, King Jon, Alpha Raymo

My heart skipped a beat when I entered Kira's bedroom and didn't find her anywhere. The sheets on the bed were tossed aside, and the room felt uncomfortably warm even though the windows were thrown open.It was also empty. Where was Kira? My first thought was that she was hurt somewhere. "Kira?" I called out in a loud voice hurrying to the bathroom and throwing the door open. I heard the faint sounds of her heartbeat before I saw her. She was sprawled on the floor, unconscious, a hand stretched out towards the bathtub. Tears filled my eyes as I rushed to her and lifted her up. Her skin was so hot that I almost dropped her. Her lips were dry and chapped, and her eyes looked sunken. She must have felt so hot that she tried to get in the tub, but she passed out before she even reached it. I didn't realize I was crying until a tear dropped onto Kira's cheek. "Kira? Wake up, baby. You'll be fine." I gently placed her into the tub, and turned on the water to the coldest setting. Kira

I knocked once on the door of Mira's bedroom, then let myself in. Although it was just barely morning, Mira was awake, and it seemed— expecting me. Her face betrayed no emotion when I entered and shut the door behind me. She was sitting on the edge of her bed, in a robe. For a short moment, we just stared at each other. Finally, I stepped forward. "Let's talk." Mira didn't say anything, but her eyes never left me. She was good at not letting her emotions show, but I'd caught enough glimpses to have an idea of what she was feeling. Anger towards me, definitely. I sighed. I'd never been a particularly affectionate mother. How did I start this? I didn't want her to think I was here to interrogate her, but I also didn't want to do something so out of character that she would laugh in my face. I settled with, "How are you feeling?" Mira stared at me. "Is that what you came here for?" I sighed again. "Mira... I just want to know—""Ask the questions you came to ask. Don't hide behin

"Can you believe him?" I scoffed as I listened to Asher's footsteps storm down the hall and slowly fade from hearing. "He's such a whiny little bastard. What did I ever see in him? He won't even take responsibility for the child he's having with his fiancee?"In my head, Zaram sniggered. "I thought you said he was the perfect match for you." "Ugh. Please. That was before he decided to crawl back to that womb snatcher, Kira and try to get on her good side again. Pathetic.""What are we going to do now?" Zaram asked. "You heard Asher. I don't think he's going to calm down any time soon." "Good thing I don't need him to calm down," I murmured. "He can just go right ahead making a fool of himself. It will make it all the more enjoyable when I bring him to heel like the dog that he is." "I can't believe he tried to get you punished after everything he promised you." "He's a fool. Blinded by emotions while letting his dick lead him." There was a short beat of silence, before Zaram voic
