Oprah’s answer scared Burgess a little bit, but before he could open his mouth, Oprah had continued, “But then I thought, if I stay with you, I can get even more money, so I refused."

She said that as if she were a gold-digger, but Burgess didn't get angry. On the contrary, he seemed happy and smiled, saying, "I know it's not about the money for you. If it were, you would have compromised long ago. Why bother going through all this with me?"

Oprah snorted again.

Burgess kissed her cheek and said, "Oprah, you do like me, don't you? Tell me, do you like me?"

A man who always acted so high and mighty was now humbly seeking a woman's affection.

Oprah's cheeks turned red, and she retorted, "I like you? Don't flatter yourself. Okay, back off a bit; you're hurting my shoulder."

"Then let me massage it for you," Burgess said with a smile, feeling like his heart was filled with something special.
