Chapter 3

I scoffed at Hannah's startled expression, asking, "If we don't know each other, why would I spend the last three years using all my connections to secure promotions for you?"

No one expected me to produce this sort of evidence, and they scrutinized Hannah with suspicious gazes.

Isaac was the first to react. He rubbed Hannah's stomach and bashfully said, "I didn't want to share the news in front of everyone, Colin. Hannah and I are expecting, so please stop your pointless arguments."

He smiled at everyone before continuing, "I'm sorry that you had to witness something so embarrassing, everyone. Colin has loved to compete with me since we were kids. He probably can't accept that I have a girlfriend now for the time being."

I stumbled backward as I stared at Hannah's stomach. "That's impossible!" I exclaimed.

Isaac probably predicted that I wouldn't believe him. He pulled out a pregnancy test report from his pocket and asked, "Why would I lie to you about something like this, Colin?"

The report clearly stated that Hannah was two months pregnant, which meant that they had been fooling around with each other behind my back for at least two months.

My heart felt like it was bleeding.

"Do you have anything else to add?" I asked while looking at Hannah.

I wanted to know what other excuses she was going to come up with, but I didn't expect her to outright refuse to look at me.

"I didn't want Isaac to find out about this, but I have no choice but to come clean about everything since I don't want him to misunderstand me."

She scoffed before continuing, "Are you going to keep lying even though we've already reached this point?"

"Lying?" I asked with a frown.

"Everyone in the company knows that you're obsessed with me. You've also been abusing your authority to force me to be with you. I only claimed not to know you earlier because I didn't want to have anything to do with you.

"I'm already pregnant with Isaac's child. He's the only man that I'll marry in the future. I hope you can come to your senses and stop bothering me."

My eyes widened. I hadn't expected Hannah to say such things.

Unable to hold herself back any longer, Mom pointed an accusing finger at me and began berating me.

"I can't believe that someone like you is a child of the Letterman family. How dare you do something so utterly shameless? What did Isaac ever do to you? How dare you do something like that? How dare you try to steal his girlfriend?"

I wanted to defend myself, but I was stunned and rooted to the spot.

Although we had been together for eight years, I didn't have a single photo with Hannah.

In hindsight, my relationship with her was a total failure.

"Colin… You…" Isaac stammered as he stared at me in disbelief.

Hannah suddenly grabbed my wrist, not giving me a chance to respond to her accusations.

"I don't want Isaac to misunderstand me because of you. Hurry and apologize to him right now."

Just then, my phone chimed.

I had just received a message from Hannah.

"The situation isn't what you think it is. Apologize and leave right now. I'll explain everything to you when I get home."

I looked at Hannah as if I were looking at a stranger. It seemed that I had failed to see her true character in the last eight years.

I scoffed and knocked her hand aside, exclaiming, "Why should I apologize?"

Hannah lost her balance and stumbled to the floor.

No one had expected me to suddenly retaliate.
