Chapter 2

Author: Summer Sway
Cyndi was the sole heir of the White family. Her friends naturally showed her some respect, and all of them tried to persuade me that nothing would happen.

"Yeah, Shane. You've already married Ms. White. Are you still worried that she might run away?"

"Yeah! I think Jack is just overly concerned about you."

"Isn't Jack the brother you're always proud of? How could he harm you?"

"You have a rich and beautiful wife, and you also have a wealthy friend. We all envy you to death! Just be content with your life."

I clenched my fists and almost shattered my lower teeth from how hard I bit down to suppress my anger before I managed to sit back down.

Jack gave me a smug smile and plopped down beside me, deliberately touching the limited edition wristwatch on his wrist.

When our friends saw the watch, they all let out a chorus of exclamations.

"Jack, you actually managed to get your hands on that watch! Oh my God! There are only three in the world, and one is in the hands of the richest person in the city. Could you be...?"

Jack probably did not expect this watch to be so valuable. He immediately took the chance to reply arrogantly, "It's nothing. My family has plenty of these kinds of watches."

I almost burst out laughing. The watch clearly belonged to my father. How did it end up in his hands?

In my past life, he stole my dad's luxury goods to rent out and make money off fake heirs. I guessed that was how he got this watch.

A friend looked at me suspiciously and then at Jack. "But isn't the White family allying with the richest family in the city through marriage? If you're the richest man's son, Shane must be..."

He paused, his tone subtle. "Could it really be like the rumors say? Is Shane just the richest man's adopted son?"

Another friend immediately chimed in, "I suppose so. I heard they adopted the driver's son to repay a debt of gratitude. They even treat him like their own. I guess Shane is that son. It's hard to understand why someone would give up their own son's marital happiness to repay a debt of gratitude! Ugh. I don't know what they're thinking, using an adopted son for the marriage. How much do they look down on the White family? I think Jack and Cyndi are a better match!"

Jack's expression changed. Cyndi and I had a whirlwind marriage, so he had no idea it was a business arrangement.

Cyndi's face also instantly darkened. Her pride was clearly hurt.

I took out my phone and slowly scrolled through a local app. "Hmm… I think I've seen this watch on quite a few influencers in this city."

I paused deliberately, looking at Jack. "But they all claim to be wealthy heirs on their profiles... Could it be that you guys are taking turns renting this watch?"

Jack's face flushed red and then turned pale, his eyes glaring at me as if he wanted to devour me alive.

Yes, I used to be simple-minded. Not only would I not have exposed him in public in the past, but I would even have been grateful to him for ‘testing’ my gold digger girlfriends for me.

Seeing that his friends were starting to doubt him, Jack flew into a rage. He took the watch off and slammed it to the ground, stomping on it while yelling, "This is my watch! What right do you have to slander me? I'll smash it to pieces, and you can’t say anything about it!"

Everyone held their breath. No one dared to speak. The limited-edition watch worth millions of dollars was trampled to pieces.

I clicked my tongue a few times before mocking with a half-smile, "You must have felt good stomping on it. Have you thought about how you're going to explain this to my dad?"

As soon as I finished speaking, Jack panicked. He lost his footing, tripped, and fell hard. He looked disheveled, his hands cut and bleeding from the watch’s glass shards. He looked at me. "Shane, are you satisfied now?"

Cyndi grabbed his hand, tenderly sucking the blood from it and simply bandaging it with a tissue. Then, she led him outside. "Let's head to the hospital."

Seeing me sitting still, she got angry. "Shane, Jack isn't just your good friend, he's like your younger brother! How could you do this to him? You're now the White family's son-in-law! I did this for the White family's reputation! I'm telling my dad about this. You should reflect on your actions!"

The police looked at my receipt expressionlessly, then turned to Jack and said seriously, "Sir, we're acting according to the law. Please cooperate and show us the watch." Jack shook his head vigorously like a rattle. "It’s my personal property. Why should I show it to you just because you want me to? How powerful are the police? Can they just violate others' privacy rights at will?" I sneered and took out my phone, finding all the influencers I had contacted earlier. Those influencers had all taken photos with this watch. I only had to offer a few advertising deals to get them to willingly reveal the origin of the watch. As expected, they all mentioned the same person: Jack. Jack was speechless. His face was grimmer than charcoal. His lips trembled, but he could not speak. I continued to press the issue, playing back the surveillance footage of him dropping and trampling on the watch. I handed it to the police. "The watch was not only stolen but also deliberately damaged. I

The sudden change of circumstances caused a commotion, and everyone was stunned by the dramatic scene. The auctioneer hurriedly stepped forward to calm things down. "Sir, please don't cause trouble in the auction venue! Otherwise, we will have to ask the security guards to escort you out!"Jack ignored him completely and grabbed Cyndi's arm forcefully. "Cyndi! How dare you have an affair behind my back!"Cyndi scoffed and mercilessly taunted him in front of everyone. "You're just a fake. How dare you ask me that question! We were never an official couple to begin with. How could you say I'm having an affair?"She paused, her tone becoming even colder. "My parents hate you. What chance do I have of marrying you? Are you stupid?"As Cyndi spoke, Vanessa walked over grimly. "Jack, what does she mean?"Cyndi went behind them before Jack could answer. She pushed Vanessa away, shouting angrily, "Jack! You can't change your habit of cheating, can you?""How dare you push me? I'm from G

Jack still wore my father's watch, but he had patched it up and covered it up so that it was impossible to tell from a distance that it had been damaged. When he saw me, he affectionately hugged the woman beside him and looked me up and down instead of showing any panic. His tone carried a hint of mockery. "Shane? Long time no see. I didn't expect you to fall so short."I coldly glanced at him. "You ruined that watch, yet you still didn't throw it away. Who's the one falling short here?"He tightly held the woman's waist. "What do you know about fashion? I specially customized this for myself. It's unique and one-of-a-kind!"I remained silent and felt only pity for the woman in front of me. Just a few days ago, I had heard from someone else that he was still with Cyndi.Seeing that I did not respond, he raised his eyebrows and nonchalantly said, "What? Speechless? Don't think that I lost everything when you stopped being my brother."He paused and chuckled contemptuously. "Let me

Which part of his body hasn't he done work on?""Honestly, I wouldn't even give him a second look if he didn't always secretly show off those fake abs."...Looking at these gold diggers in the group chat, I felt a little relieved. It took two hands to clap. Jack was disgusting, but they were no better. After seeing the evidence I presented, they immediately backed down. To make amends, they all sent me their chat records with Jack.Twenty gold diggers with twenty chat records finally showed me Jack's true colors.Jack snatched the ph

Cyndi immediately pointed at me and complained, "Dad! The Carter family let their adoptive son marry into our family. How outrageous! How could I ever marry an adoptive son?"My father-in-law, Walter White, turned red with anger and pointed at Cyndi's nose, scolding, "How dare you! Cyndi! What nonsense are you saying?"He then turned to my father and forced a smile. "Henry, the kids are just being kids. Don't take them seriously."My mother pulled me behind her, sizing me up with concern. "Shane, if you hadn't told me today, I wouldn't have known you've suffered so much... "My father was even more furious. He pointed at Walter and shouted, "Who just said they wanted to call off the engagement? You can call it off for all I care! Does Shane care about being the White family’s son-in-law? Why don't you look at yourself in the mirror? Why should my son put up with your disdain?"Cyndi finally realized she had stirred up a hornet's nest. She immediately pulled her hand away from Jack
