Feeling uncertain, Lex pressed, "Are you sure?"

Kate nodded confidently. "I know Tony Quill. His pride is ingrained into his very bones—he doesn't yield to influence or prestige, let alone rely on someone else if he wants payback."

Though Lex nodded in assurance, he soon frowned in irritation. "You really know him well. Could you still be hung up on him?"

Then, seeing that Kate stayed silent, he chuckled, "Oh, I'm just kidding. Why would you be hung up on that loser? You're right. That prick must somehow have stolen the accomplishment and deceived Ingrid, so she's now hostile toward me for his sake!"

Though he was basically comforting himself, Kate did not point it out and instead asked, "What about tomorrow? My family's still removed from the Carters' list of partners…"
