Author: Cozy Season
First and foremost, Edgar would try to get rid of the child in Shelia's womb.

"Miss Miles, please follow me."

A maid came up to lead her upstairs.

Shelia hesitated, but with no viable alternative, she reluctantly complied.

As they reached the room, she attempted to make a run for it, only to find that the maid had already locked the door behind them. The door was designed to be impenetrable from the inside, leaving her trapped.

"Open the door. Open the door!"

Shelia pounded her fists against the solid wood, but the maid remained unmoved.

"Mr. Odom said you need to rest, Miss Blair. The doctor will come soon."

Shelia's heart was gripped by fear as she listened to the distancing footsteps. She didn't know what Edgar was up to.

She quickly retrieved her phone, dialing Juan's number. The call wouldn't connect. She tried Joe next, only to find that he had also blocked her.

Panic set in as she understood the extent of her isolation. Edgar was a powerful man, so calling the police w

"No way," Drake said, shrugging. "I've got you guys. If I get canned, I'll open a shop with my savings. With you watching my back, it'll be fine."Robert smacked his head. "Dream on. You know what happens to those who leave the Bernard family or get eliminated."He paused and added, "Think about our old crew. What happened to them? As long as Shawn sees value in us, he won't let us go. Want to end up begging on the streets? I'll toss you some cash."Drake went quiet. He was just joking.Deep down, he knew once one was in this muck, getting out was almost impossible. They might be stuck with the Bernards forever, always a bodyguard ready to take a bullet."Marion, what's your take?" he asked.Seven years had passed since they met. They had a bond now, with Marion as their brain. In danger, they trusted his judgment."I'm staying," Marion replied blandly.Drake frowned. "You never thought about leaving?"With his ability, Marion could have thrived anywhere else. He didn't have t

Waiting in the car, Marion sensed something was off.He posed as a customer, slipped inside, and drove a razor blade into the guy's throat. Meanwhile, ten others stormed the warehouse and got Drake out.Looking back, Drake didn't know what had fueled their fire. Because of just an order, they had thrown their lives on the line.He took a deep drag on his cigarette, exhaling a slow smoke ring. "Man, we were so young back then."He still remembered that winter when the three of them were pinned down in a dark alley. In those chaotic gang days, the streets crawled with desperate outlaws. They fought hand-to-hand for two hours."You idiot!" Drake growled at Marion. "We're screwed because of you."Robert frowned. "Weren't you the one running off? If not for you, we wouldn't be in this mess." "Who asked you to show up? I could've handled them solo," Drake snorted."Big talk," Robert sneered. "Brag after we get out."The alley echoed with the clink of iron bars. If the gang caught

With Stanley's issue resolved, Randy and Erica returned to the country and threw a celebration bash.It was less a victory party and more a chance to catch up and gossip.Lillian and Solomon sat bored at the table, listening to the adults' bragging."Back in the day, Marion was a legend. Now? Total letdown," Randy sighed. "No joke, when Marion showed up overseas, the whole scene shook. Who would guess 20 years later, he's a stay-at-home dad?"He shook his head. "Time's a cruel thing."Lillian leaned toward Solomon. "When's your dad gonna stop blowing hot air?"Solomon, piling her plate. "He's old and loves spinning tall tales. Eat your food.""Uncle Robert never brags.""He barely talks."Nearby, Robert and Drake sipped drinks, overhearing the kids. They exchanged amused looks. Kids today had no clue what they'd been through. They wouldn't talk like that if they did."Lillian, come here," Drake called.Lillian went over. "What gift for me today?""Want a smack instead?" Dr

Randy eyed the set, fit for a museum. "I'm kind of a bridesmaid too. Got anything for me too?""Yes, but we're taking the bride now," Barton said."Go ahead," Erica said, waving her hand. "You're sincere enough. Debra's in good hands."She had expected a small gift, not this extravagance. Being a bridesmaid might just be a goldmine."Ready, my princess?" Andrew offered his hand.Debra took it naturally.Erica teared up. She had grown up with Debra, and witnessing their happiness tugged at her heart.Randy nudged her. "Why are you crying like that? Mrs. Frazier hasn't even started.""Shut up. Women get emotional. Wait till the ceremony. Mrs. Frazier is gonna bawl," Erica sniffled.Andrew carried Debra downstairs in a princess hold.In his arms, she felt safe, a feeling stronger today than ever. She was going to be his wife. But her mind drifted to last night's dream, in which she loved someone deeply. The man's face was unclear, but she trusted her choice."What's up?" Andre

At seven, it was time for the groom to fetch the bride.Erica was on high alert. Debra, in her room, thought she heard car engines."They're here," she said.Erica blinked. "Here? Where?"They hadn't heard anything, but soon footsteps echoed upstairs."They're coming! Your ears are sharp," Randy exclaimed, joining the others at the door. But then, the footsteps stopped.Erica tensed up. "Andrew?""It's me," Andrew replied, calm and direct.Debra blushed, and Erica grinned, "You know the rules. Gotta answer all my questions to get in.""Sure.""First question! What's the longest river in the country?""The Khoralith.""Second! What's the second longest?" "The Frostglen.""Third...""Wrap it up. You're gonna make us late," Randy cut in, baffled by her random trivia."Ugh, almost done. Quit interrupting." Erica swatted his hand. "Third question! What's the shortest river?"Andrew fell silent, and she smirked, "Stumped, huh? Guess you're not as sharp as they say."Andre

Getting up this early for a wedding was torture."Forget why it's not at night. Just get up and get your makeup done," Erica urged.Debra had scrubbed off her makeup just five hours ago. Now she had to wear it again. In contrast to her sluggishness, Erica buzzed with energy, directing the team and even hiring pros to guard the door. She even tested the door's sturdiness."What are you doing there?" Debra asked, puzzled."Oh, check how tough this door is. You know, we can't let Andrew waltz in so easily," Erica replied."But if you don't let him in, how am I getting married?""Ugh, I mean, we can't make it too easy."While scoping out the hall, Erica spotted a shadow outside and moved to shut the door.Randy quickly called out, "Erica, it's me.""Randy?" She pulled the door back open. "What are you doing here? I thought you were with the groomsmen."He held out some bags. "Just figured you wouldn't have time to grab a meal, so I got your favorites. Debra, there's some for you
