Chapter 118

Author: Edelweiss W.S.
Claire was probably silent because she felt awkward getting between me and my soon-to-be ex-wife.

I didn't mind, though, so I broke the ice. "What are you planning to make for dinner, exactly?"

"Anything you like. Just say the word, and I'll make it."

I chuckled. "Oh, I really am a lucky man!"

A faint smile touched her lips before she looked at me seriously. "Why are you divorcing her?"

I was slightly startled.

"If that was too forward, just pretend I didn't ask," she quickly added.

"It's fine. I have nothing to hide," I replied, smiling lightly. "We were married for five years. Then her first crush returned from abroad with a son. Their interactions made me uncomfortable. That's why."

The simpler truth was that Hera had emotionally cheated on me. Instead of feeling humiliated, I felt indignant about all the sacrifices I had made for her.

Claire nodded. "Hmm, understood."

Silence fell again. Only when we reached the supermarket entrance did she finally speak. "She didn't know

Flint's physique dwarfed mine completely. A terrifying curl twisted across his coarse, severe face. "Don't struggle. I'll do my best to make this less unpleasant for you."This was the largest foe I had ever faced. I could not even tell if Flint wanted to inspire fear or heap humiliation on me. He could have dropped me to the floor with a single strike, yet he dragged it out, savoring the moment. He wanted to torture me."Stop! Stop, you don't know what you're doing!" Baron shouted, lifting his head from the floor with difficulty. He coughed and spat blood. "He's not just any man! His real identity is—"A sudden voice cut him off, "Not so fast, Mr. Steele! I want to watch you squash him like a fucking bug!"Terry emerged from the car with a bandage wrapped around his head. His eyes glittered with malicious delight, his injuries seemingly forgotten. He smiled with dangerous satisfaction.Flint had already decided to humiliate me, so Terry's eager audience only fueled him. "Underst

All it would take for the Amos family to vanish into Astergrad's history was for Sebastian's true identity as the lost heir to be revealed.Baron could only lament that Julius had chosen to test his grandson so harshly. There was one more truth to reckon with—a giant would always be a giant. Whether exposed or not, Sebastian would remain the lost heir whom Baron had to protect at all costs.…"No! I won't let you get hurt! If you do, everything I've done up to this point will have been for nothing!" Baron shouted.Harvey had watched our exchange with mounting impatience and irritation, as though we had forgotten his presence entirely. "Seems like he's eager to get his skull cracked open with a bottle. Why not let him have his fun?"Then Harvey's tone shifted, cold and measured. "In fact, I've changed my mind. I'm tired of this. Flint, deal with him. Smash a bottle over that brat's head so we can all go home.""Understood." Flint Steele, a towering wall of muscle, finally spoke.

"Quite the courageous spirit, Goldman. You'd go that far for an unknown young man?" Harvey sneered, offering Baron a mocking round of applause. With a flick of his hand, he signaled his bodyguard, who tossed 30 beer bottles at Baron's feet."I want to hear the bottles shatter, Goldman. Loud and sharp. If the sound doesn't last at least a second, we start again from the top. I'll be your scorekeeper. Enjoy yourself," Harvey said, his eyes fixed on Baron.Baron grimaced. He hadn't even started, yet his head already felt faint and unsteady. "Do you have to make things so hard between us, old man?""Shut up! My grandson cracked his skull because of your associate, and I'm here to demand justice! You're the one who insisted on playing the hero. You did this to yourself!" Harvey roared. "Who do you think you are, Goldman?! You think I give a damn about your company?"His authority pressed down like a weight, but my anger burned too hot to let it paralyze me."How dare you?!" I shouted.

"He's one of Baron Goldman's mooks. And yet Baron refuses to apologize or make amends for what I went through! Instead, he sided with that jerk against me!"A flicker of sympathy crossed Harvey's eyes. He ignored Baron for a moment. "My poor grandson! Quick, back to my car. I brought a doctor with me. Ask her to help you, but be respectful. She's the very Goddess of Medicine. You leave this to me, Terry."Terry nodded like a schoolboy doing as he was told and climbed into Harvey's car. He dropped the act for a second, turning to glare at Baron and me with a look that could curdle milk.Baron muttered, "Shit, we've got a problem.""Problem?" I glanced at the old man. "Nice suit, but what's so dangerous about that bastard's grandfather?""If Harvey Amos is famous for anything, it's that his grandson can do no wrong in his eyes. This isn't the first time Terry's caused trouble. And every time, his grandfather swoops in to clean up the mess. That's why the kid turned into such an assh

"Listen to me, and listen closely, asshole. I'm protecting my mentor to the ends of the earth. You can call your daddy, but I am not backing down!"Baron said it—he would be on Sebastian's side forever. But how was that even a difficult decision? The Amos family in Astergrad versus the absolute titans of Enbarr? This was the easiest choice anyone could make.Terry had no idea who he was dealing with. This was Baron's moment to prove his devotion and loyalty before the truth ever came out.…I felt stunned and moved by his loyalty. "Mr. Goldman… Thank you. I will repay you for this!"Among men, actions spoke louder than words. I had no need to voice my gratitude further. I would show it by working harder than ever to bring in all the gold for him."I'm not doing this for the money!" Baron said, his smile smooth as butter. "You have to be protected at all costs! And I do mean, 'all costs!'"Terry's anger flared. "You think I can't do anything against you, huh? I'll call my grandp

"Goldman!" Terry snarled, his face dark with rage. This hundred-man cavalry had made taking me out nearly impossible!Baron Inc.'s security guards charged into the restaurant in a stampede, breaking through Terry's wall of bodyguards.Under their protection, Baron hurried toward me. "Are you okay, Master?! I'm sorry I'm late!"Then he noticed the blood on my hand. His expression dropped. The most important man in this entire city was injured."You sons of bitches! You hurt him?!" he bellowed. "I will not forgive you for this!""No, wait—that's Terry's blood," I replied with a grin. The size of Baron's rescue party had exceeded my expectations. Suddenly, the situation felt simpler.Baron sighed in relief. "Terry's blood? Good! Music to my ears. As long as you're not hurt."If Sebastian was the sleeping giant, the entire Grimwald family was a clan of untouchable titans, capable of leveling a city. How could they forgive a city where one of their heirs was injured?"What the hell
