Chapter 137

Author: Edelweiss W.S.
"I'm doing what you wanted me to do, man! Your pals are leaving! Why are you still pressing that pointy bottle against my neck? You've got to be careful! You could cut my jugular!" Terry shouted, failing miserably to hide his fear.

I sneered, "And then what? You'll die? Sounds like you deserve it. Now shut up. I'll let you go when the time comes."

He went silent, wisely choosing not to argue.

I watched Jeanine and Lucas leave the room and followed them into the hall. The restaurant had been emptied—the Amos' bodyguards had cleared everyone out long before this. Now, they waited in the hall.

"I said, go outside! Do not try to block my people from leaving, or else!" I barked.

This time, they obeyed immediately, without waiting for Terry to repeat the order.

With them gone, my employees were finally free. They turned to me, eyes filled with the loyalty of comrades who would follow me into any battle.

I realized that if Sleeping Giant survived this, we would become an unbreakable te

  • Goodbye, Saintess.   Chapter 152

As for the soulmate who could turn the pendant red, he had never appeared.Years passed, and Metis forgot all about it. She accepted this as her life—a life devoted entirely to the study of Revarian medicine. She existed to serve. Then, a fire erupted, and she came perilously close to death. As the flames threatened to consume her, Metis realized she harbored one regret—she wished she had a protege to pass her knowledge to.At that moment, a towering figure crashed through the walls. Light seemed to shine upon him, bright and unstoppable.A deep, commanding voice filled her ears. "Don't be afraid. I'm getting you out!"Before she could react, Sebastian scooped her into his arms. In that instant, the flames seemed powerless to touch her.In a flash, they were outside. She was safe.Breathing in the fresh air and watching the inferno from a distance, Metis felt as if she were still dreaming. The man set her down gently. She opened her mouth to thank him, but he was already gone, s

The tension between us had loosened, at least slightly.I waited until Metis' laughter subsided and asked again, "How much do I owe you for your treatment? What would you like as payment?"Metis' smile vanished. She fixed me with a sharp glare. "Is that all there is between us, Sebastian? Money?""Wait, that sounds wrong!" I protested. Why did she make it feel like we had just spent the night together, and this was the awkward morning after? She seized my collar and pulled me close, her face hovering near mine. "Does it? Because this is exactly my point!"She stood on her toes, her lips nearly brushing against mine. "My treatment is priceless! It cannot be measured in money!"Her closeness had been building for a while, and I realized my heart was racing faster than I could control."Then what am I supposed to do? Should I… propose marriage?" I asked cautiously.Metis froze. Her cheeks deepened in color as she released me and stepped back. "I don't want you as a husband! A man

It was just Metis and me now. I studied the stunning beauty before me and asked, "So, Dr. Gorgeous. This has to be really expensive, right?"She frowned. "You are going to pay me?""Why not?" I said. Then, baffled, I added, "Wait—don't tell me miracle doctors like the Goddess of Medicine don't take money. What do they want instead? Gold bars? Company stock? Okay, look. My company's new. As in, it was born today. It hasn't even gone public yet!""I can't believe you!" she snapped. Her glare sharpened as she marched forward until her face was only inches from mine. I caught her scent—something like sandalwood or perhaps a rare herb."And 'Dr. Gorgeous'? Does that mean you've already forgotten who I am?" she demanded.I stiffened. When a woman asked something like "guess what day it is," giving the wrong answer guaranteed disappointment. This was worse. All she wanted was proof that I remembered her.Well… I didn't."Maybe? You look really familiar, Dr. Gorgeous. But I don't exact

Metis' eyes widened. Instead of scolding me, she burst out laughing.…The Amoses stood frozen in shock, trembling with fury.Terry spun toward us and snarled, "I can't fucking stand these pricks!"He was about to charge when Harvey yanked him back by the arm."No! We're leaving! Your grandfather's life depends on her. We don't have a choice!" Harvey snapped, his tone heavy with fatigue. "Haven't we been humiliated enough today?"Terry turned to see his grandfather seething."That's exactly why I have to do something about this, Grandpa!" he protested.Harvey silenced him with a hard stare. The two climbed into the car without another word.As the vehicle pulled away, Terry's rage boiled over. "I can't… I can't just let this slide, Grandpa! I won't stand for it!""And you think I can?" Harvey shot back. His eyes were shut, but his voice carried a sharp, dangerous edge. "Our family has never been treated with such contempt in all our history. Never. But Dr. Fey won't be here

Terry loathed Sebastian. He despised him, looked down on him—and now Metis wanted Terry to apologize to this worthless bastard? It was impossible. Before he could even open his mouth to refuse, Harvey stepped in. With a sharp jab of his cane against the inside of Terry's knee, the young man dropped to the floor on one leg.Terry stared at him in disbelief. "Grandpa?""On your knees, Terry. Apologize!" Harvey ordered, his face grim. "The Amos family may survive without you or your pride, but it cannot survive without me."He struck Terry's other knee, forcing him down completely. The arrogant heir who had never once been told to apologize was now being humiliated in front of everyone. The shame burned Harvey as much as it did Terry, but Harvey had no choice. The doctor standing before them was his only chance at a cure.Terry saw the anguish in his grandfather's eyes. To him, kneeling like this felt like being pressed against sizzling oil, but he could not resist.Through clench

"Please don't forget to treat me, Dr. Fey. I'll be waiting at our residence." Harvey cast me a sharp look and sighed bitterly. "Don't worry. I can read the room. Enjoy your afternoon reminiscing with your associate, Dr. Fey."Terry, however, broke out in protest. "What the hell?! This isn't fair! How is this fair?! Look at me! I got screwed over, but he looks as untouched as a newborn! How is this dignifying to me?!"Who cares about this so-called goddess? She's on his side! That tells you everything about her so-called skills—she's overrated as hell! We shouldn't listen to her!"Terry was seething with jealousy. The beautiful doctor couldn't take her eyes off Sebastian, as if she were entranced. What made Sebastian so special? When she treated Terry's wounds, she never looked at him once. Yet now, she practically had stars in her eyes for that bastard."He! Needs! To! Pay!" Terry roared."Shut up!" Harvey thundered at last, his voice thick with disappointment. "Is your dignity mo
