Chapter 273

Author: Edelweiss W.S.
"Pleasure doing business with you, Mr. Grimwald!" the manager said.

He had never closed a 200,000-dollar deal so quickly.

Alice found the whole thing surreal.

Mila finally saw that events were not following her script. "Wait a goddamn minute. He signed it? Just like that? That cannot be right. He does not have the money. He is a fraud putting on a show for me!"

The manager answered by slapping her. "Shut up. He has already paid in full. Who do you think you are? Why would Mr. Grimwald care about your pitiful existence enough to try to impress you?"

Mila stood stunned. She forgot the pain on her cheek. "B-But how? You should be running out of money already. How much did Baron Inc. pay you for that crappy gig of yours?"

I snorted. "Just enough to embarrass you. Sir, correct me if I'm wrong. A salesperson who shows zero professionalism and insults a potential customer deserves to be fired, right?"

The manager nodded. "That is correct, Mr. Grimwald. Koch, you are fired."

  • Goodbye, Saintess.   Chapter 601

Hearing my answer, Anna finally let out a relieved breath and hurried out of the room as if she were making an escape.I did not follow her. I lowered my head and stared at the paste smeared across the front of my pants and at my unsteady state of mind. I forced myself to calm down before wiping the area clean. Two minutes later, I had already gone through an entire pack of wet tissues. The paste clung with stubborn persistence, and some of it refused to come off."This will have to do." I sighed, stood, and stepped out. At least my condition had settled enough that I would not embarrass myself in front of anyone.I did not expect to find a row of bodyguards standing with their faces to the wall, lined up in punishment. They were the same ones Anna had brought with her."What are you all…""Miss Shepard asked us to reflect on our mistake. We need to remember to knock next time."They must have noticed how different Anna acted around me. The hostility they showed earlier had vani

I finally understood what Anna intended to do. My legs locked in place. "Miss Shepard, this is not appropriate.""What else am I supposed to do? I can't let my face heal unevenly. Be quiet!" Anna sounded mortified. The closer she leaned, the harder it became for her to keep her eyes open. She had a point. I fell silent and thought, 'This woman lives her life trying to stay in control. Compared to her face, her cleanliness obsession means nothing.'Before long, her cheek pressed against the front of my pants. At first, both of us froze. I kept edging my waist back, which made it impossible for her to reach the remaining medicinal paste. After several failed attempts, she glared at me in frustration. "You're doing this on purpose, right? You're leaning so far back I can't reach anything!"I forced out a strained smile. "If I don't lean back, you'll rub against more than the paste."Anna understood, yet she had no alternatives. She grit her teeth. "Then I'll accept it. Now lift you

"You were so comfortable you almost fell asleep?" Sebastian asked."No." Anna's heart jolted at the sound of his voice. She shot upright, and her elbow clipped the half-box of medicinal paste beside her.The thick green mixture flipped cleanly through the air and landed squarely on his lap.…"Um…" I froze."I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to do that! I'll clean it for you."Maybe it was the intimacy we had shared a moment earlier, but her voice softened. Flustered, she grabbed a wet wipe and leaned toward the front of my pants. My body locked up as her hand approached. "Wait. No, this isn't appropriate!"In this cramped room I had nowhere to escape.Anna stayed calm. "It's fine. I don't feel any resistance toward you anymore."To her, this was no different from wiping away a spill. Since the discomfort of physical contact had faded, helping me seemed ordinary.I forced myself to focus and reminded her quietly, "That isn't the point. You still need the paste." Her expr

Anna looked around the cramped space. "But this room is so small. If I lie down, wouldn't that mean I have to lie on your lap?"Embarrassment softened her expression. Letting Sebastian touch her face had already pushed her limit.Lying on the lap of a man she had known for less than a day, in a tight room and in a suggestive position, was something she could not accept.…I knew resting her head on my lap felt too intimate, so I offered an alternative. "The paste is already on your skin. You can't open the door or let any wind in. If you really mind, you can lie down normally, and I can work from the front.""Work from the front? That won't work. The bed sits right against the wall. You won't even have room for your feet. If you sit on the bed, you'll be practically sitting on top of me. That's even more… you know…" Her voice faded until it was barely a whisper.Inside this confined space, alone with a man she barely knew, none of the sharp attitude she had shown outside remained

"My doctor friend gave me clear instructions. Once the paste goes on your face, you can't let even the slightest breeze touch it. If you slip up, it will leave marks. So the choice is yours." My tone stayed flat, yet it startled Anna enough to make her stiffen."I'll go in." Irritation colored her voice, but for the sake of her face, she stepped inside and shut the door."Come closer." I dipped my fingers into the paste and gestured for her to move in.…Anna stayed silent. A trace of resistance lingered, yet she still leaned forward. The cramped room lacked ventilation. She felt Sebastian's breath, and the closeness made her uneasy. When the cool paste touched her skin, a refreshing chill spread across her face. Even her irritation eased."This medicine actually works?" Her eyes widened. "It stopped hurting the moment you put it on."…"Of course. You think any ordinary doctor can make ointment like this?"With her this close, I caught the faint scent on her. Up close, I saw

"Yes," I replied. "Your condition is not serious. Once this is applied, the pain will ease soon."I nodded and raised the herbal paste to Anna's face. She still pulled back a little. After she leaned in, smelled it, and realized it carried no strange odor, the tight frown between her brows eased."All right then. Give me the paste. Do I put it on like a face mask?" she asked.I shook my head. "No. You need massage to make it work. I'll apply it for you."If it worked like a simple mask, someone would have mass-produced it already.Anna's brows tightened again the moment she heard I would touch her face. "You? Touch my face?"The words had barely left her lips when all her bodyguards stepped forward, eyes sharp as they glared at me.Anna had a serious cleanliness obsession. Forget letting me spread this earthy paste on her. She would reject another woman as well. She lived alone and spent her days working only with flawless gemstones, which explained why she had never taken a par
