Natasha looked tense standing so close to someone tied to a notorious crime syndicate.

"Y-You're not… actually friends with gangs and stuff, right?" she whispered.

I shook my head at once. Gangs? Criminal syndicates and secret societies? I didn't even know anyone from that world back in Astergrad, which made this all the more confusing.

"If you're no longer under Sam's employment or command, then why are you still treating me so… deferentially?" I asked.

Jackie's expression turned grave. "I have a favor to ask of you, sir."

I blinked. "Okay. Now that makes sense. What is it?"

Jackie said helplessly, "My sister studies at Astergrad U. Lately, she's been harassed by some powerful people. I want to help her myself, but this is my turf.
