Chapter 19

I continued crying non-stop until we reached the basement. Rod pulled me until we reached the second floor of the mansion, into his room where he used to entertain me.

"From now on, this is where you will stay, Jane. You won't leave this room. Do you understand?" Rod said, releasing his grip on me and facing me.

I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself. My chest felt like it was going to explode from the overwhelming emotions. But no matter how hard I tried to hold back my tears, they continued to flow like a waterfall. "Y-You're going to lock me up here? Rod, I have a life. You can't imprison me here," I weakly protested. He looked at me.

"I thought you were going to do everything I wanted?" he asked, incredulous.

I bit my lip and quickly averted my gaze. "B-But you can't keep me locked up here forever. Rod, I have a life. I'm studying!"
