Chapter 222 Underworld Kingpin

Auteur: Five Generals
“You can bring Larry back!?”

Lance and Naomi looked at Kaze, skeptical.

They looked down on him from the bottom of their hearts. Even though Larry had no academic credits or job, they would never make him marry into a family for money.

Kaze ignored the two of them. He offered to bring Larry back because Larry was held together with Darcy’s car and that was what he wanted to bring back.

If not for the car, he would not care if Larry died.

Darcy shook her head. “Kaze, stop fooling around. The casino bosses are not someone you can mess with. They have a lot of men and it’s too dangerous. I don’t want you to go.”

She insisted on calling Miru for help.

Kaze felt comforted knowing that Darcy worried about him. He said, “Darcy, don’t worry. I’m just going to talk to the casino boss and negotiate with him. Maybe I can get your car back. If things go south, we’ll see what we can do.”

Darcy looked at him, still worried. After some serious consideration, she sighed and said, “Fine

Kaze picked up the fork and twirled it right in the center of the plate. He twirled a big clump of pasta onto his fork. The meatball and pasta went well together in one big bite. Kaze could feel his belly getting full.Edmund did not reject the food even though it was simple. He wolfed down the pasta. The pasta seemed to be cooked from scratch, and the freshness showed. “The money isn’t what I’m worried about. My concern is that she’d storm off,” Edmund said earnestly after swallowing a mouthful of food. He voiced his concern. Everything else could take a back seat since this issue took precedence. It was not easy to get the target where they wanted her to be, so the last thing Edmund wanted was to let her slip away. “Relax. She won’t leave until she gets what she wants. Don’t worry about that,” Kaze said indifferently and took another bite. The pasta was chewy. Hunger was the likely reason why Kaze found the food rather appetizing today. “Can I really be sure abo

Lyra was there to use the West State’s branch leader against Cassey in Gardenia. She had to stir the ambition within the branch leader in the West State for the manipulation to happen before she could get what she wanted. It would not be an easy feat for sure, but Lyra trusted that she would succeed. Fletcher kept his thoughts to himself, simply being there for his leader. Charles would report his findings at the end of the day while still keeping tabs on the situation during the day. However, he would not follow the group too closely so as not to be discovered. Nevertheless, the group must have picked up on the tension because they would never leave home without their bodyguard or driver. His every move was anticipated by the group. The news always brought Edmund unease, but he never bothered Kaze about it. Kaze continued with his work routine while avoiding any contact with Darcy. It was not like he did not want to see her. Rather, it was unnecessary. On a separat

“Ma’am, we should just go,” Fletcher said, looking worried. He was worried about Lyra’s safety. “Get a car and see if we can leave,” Lyra said. She, too, started to worry. She wanted to find out what the branch leader was trying to do. If Lyra could not leave, then she could still strike a deal with Kaze. If they could, then Kaze did not care about this deal at all. Lyra was no longer confident that she had convinced Kaze. “Are we going out of this mansion or are we going back to the hotel to pack and leave?” Fletcher did not want to stay in the mansion anymore. His patience was running out. Staying in enemy territory felt like having a knife at his throat, ready to slit it at any moment. The thought sent chills down Fletcher’s spine. He wanted to escape. He was not a coward, but he had experienced many missions, and none of them were as tricky as this. They had been in Westeros for a while now, but they got nothing on the branch leader. Instead, Fletcher felt toy

Lyra thought her offer was tempting enough, so she was not in a hurry and waited patiently for Kaze’s reply. She believed she was in control, so it was not wise to show nervousness. Yet after a day, she got no news from the branch leader at all, which baffled her. She saw Fletcher, who had slept for the whole day, and woke up, came in from outside. “How are things outside?” Lyra asked. She had been watching TV the whole day. She saw a few patrols outside the window, but no one else. The servants would serve her food, but they did not stay for long. They did not seem to be interested in her as well. Lyra knew they were all Edmund’s men, so she did not care nor was afraid of being watched. However, she felt strange that she was not being placed under surveillance. In the evening, she sent Fletcher out to have a look. Fletcher did not sleep last night, so he rested during the day. He went out for a quick spin but saw nothing. He looked baffled when his boss asked about

If Cassey were just a puppet, he would have been swapped away easily. He was a capable person with fierce methods, which allowed him to cling to the position of acting branch leader. Northam and Toto wanted to take him down, but they dared not act against Cassey’s family, so they had been enduring him for years. “He’s quite capable on his own, but he’s strong because of his background. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be scared of him,” Northam said. Toto understood and agreed as well. Had he done his research on Cassey back then, this would not have happened. He might also not choose Cassey to be the acting branch leader. Unfortunately, they could not turn back time and could only accept the fact. They thought Cassey was still young and timid and would never dare to defy them. However, Cassey grew stronger in time and started to order them around. Toto was displeased and wanted to replace Cassey, but they did not have the chance until now. They were afraid of the Nash family b

“Should I get them inside?” Northam asked. He was discussing important matters with Toto, but it would be better to have people around. Their men were all trained, and they knew what not to speak. “Forget it. Too many women in the room will make things difficult.” Toto was not gay; he simply disliked noise. Bringing in the escorts would create a disturbance, which was far from ideal for a serious discussion. “Okay.” Northam nodded and filled Toto’s glass with liquor. “This is indeed a rare chance. If not for the news from the branch leader himself, we might not even know about this.” “Yeah. It’s surprising, but it’s a good thing for us. We can try to get him on our side,” Toto said. He was surprised by the kind gesture of the Westeros branch leader. “I don’t know if he wants to meet us. We are just the elders. Our responsibilities are here with Gardenia State, not to make contact with him.” Northam worried that the branch leader might not want to see him due to un
