Chapter 35 An Encounter During Interview

Author: Five Generals
Kaze talked to Hector and Agnes quite a bit to calm them down.

He sent them back into the house to rest after what happened.

When he came back out, Bruno and his men came over in a hurry.

“Mr. Lee. I am so sorry about what happened. It is the security’s mistake to let those gangsters in here. It is our responsibility.”

Bruno bowed and apologized to Kaze.

“The security guards are really useless,” Kaze said coldly.

The security personnel were not some old men part-timers; they were hired from professional security companies, yet they were unable to hold back a bunch of gangsters.

“Mr. Lee, they were frightened by the name Gold Tooth. I gave them a strict order and requested more men to guard the place. If the gangsters return, the security guards will stop them with their lives.”

Bruno felt helpless as well. He could frighten off others using Heavensward’s name but it did not work against the gangsters who disregarded the law.

“That won’t be necessary. I will not be usi

“What’s the name of your company?” the receptionist asked while on the phone. “We are from Quintessential Group’s branch office. We’ve worked with Mr. Hark before. Can you let him know that Ms. Quint would like to see him?” Luca replied with a smile. Darcy stood in the lobby and observed her surroundings. The office building was in a prime location right in the heart of the city. It took a certain type of capacity to open a company in the area, and it spoke volumes about its connections. Darcy looked for a spot to sit down while waiting for a response. Luca watched cheerfully as the receptionist communicated with management. The receptionist kept a smile on her face throughout. Once the call was over, she turned to Luca with a practiced grin.“I’m sorry, but Mr. Hark isn’t at work today. His secretary will be down in a minute to talk to you.” The receptionist conveyed the message. Everything else hinged on the situation at hand. Since Russell was not at work, Darcy

“I might want to try Russell’s number. If I can’t reach him on the phone, I’ll have to pay him a visit at his office.” Darcy would not miss out on any opportunities. “I’ll check for his company’s details. We can go there if we can get an address. It will be ideal if you can call him beforehand.” Luca knew better than to be reckless. Since Russell was a potential client, she should be careful not to rub him the wrong way. “Go on. I’ll give Russell a call.” Amid her hesitation, Darcy dialed Russell’s number. She had tried his number before, but the call never went through. Darcy assumed that Russell had gone back to the North State. Later, she found out that Russell had not left Westeros. Darcy punched the numbers and waited on the line until the engaged dial tone came through. It was a pretty frustrating situation to be in. “Where could he be? Why can’t I contact him?” Darcy was confused about the situation. If Russell was keen on working together, he would keep hi

It was a source of Darcy’s frustration. “The proposal is perfect, but why aren’t the clients happy? They keep picking it apart.” Darcy was baffled. Anxiety ate her up. “If this doesn’t work out, I’ll need to figure something else out.“Maybe I can reach out to Mr. Hark again. He’s a big client from the North State. I’m sure he can decide whether to participate in the project.” Darcy had high hopes for the guy. Russell had not been in contact since their last encounter. He did not appear keen on the company’s business ventures. Since Russell had expressed some level of interest before, Darcy had to make the effort and reach out. There may still be hope to salvage this. Darcy had always known that opportunities came to those who were ready for them. She was determined to seize every opportunity. Even when the odds were stacked against her, she had to reach for success. Luca brought coffee. Darcy had been behind her desk the whole day. She did not even step out of h

“Thank you, Mr. Witterson. I’ll be in touch with you soon enough.” Tobias had contacted Edmund and determined that he was open to a partnership. It was good news to Tobias. After the call, Edmund was immersed in joy. While he had been waiting for the call, the response came rather quickly. It was clear that the people in Gardenia could not stand Lyra. They seemed eager to set her up. “The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Mr. Lee is right once again. With an ally, we should be able to take care of business better. “Since these people set their sights on the West State, I’ll just redirect them to something else. I won’t have to waste the West State’s resources to pit these two against each other.” Edmund chuckled proudly. His reverence was only reserved for Kaze. Edmund was in awe of Kaze’s abilities. Kaze always rose to the occasion, and Edmund could not be more impressed. “I got to give it to Mr. Lee. He’s always one step ahead. His foresight is incredible.” As Edm

Though Edmund trusted Kaze’s judgment, unrest stirred within him. Edmund assigned his people to keep watch at every exit, ensuring that he would find out the moment Lyra tried to leave. Now that Lyra had made the trip to Westeros, she would not leave before taking hold of her objective. Plus, Edmund was not going to let her leave anyway. Considering Lyra’s arrogance and all the trouble she started, she was not getting away on Edmund’s watch. Heck, Edmund was determined to take her down. The timing was not right since Kaze had ordered him to stay put. Edmund had to be patient and wait it out. Nevertheless, Kaze said that Lyra needed a wake-up call. Maybe Edmund would get a peek into her true thoughts. If Lyra did not mind and stuck around, it would prove that Kaze was right all along. Despite his jitters, Edmund was willing to bet on it because of his trust in Kaze. The news made Charles uneasy. He had no idea how he was going to break the news to Lyra. The latter might ju

“I thought I was dead meat then. Even though I hired tight security, I sensed danger when they collapsed right in front of me. “I realized right there and then how powerful the North State was. It was why I wanted our people to grow.” Edmund recalled the time Kaze had to work a corporate job during the day and train the team at night. “To this day, the members keep your guidance in mind. They help each other to improve.” With that in mind, Edmund looked at Kaze with gratitude. “The Viper’s Den West State Branch isn’t your responsibility alone. I should do my part, but to keep my identity intact, you have to be the one in the limelight.” Kaze knew what Edmund wanted to say. It was a chance for him to vent his frustrations. Kaze kept his mouth shut for Edmund to blow off some steam. Some things should not be bottled up inside because it would lead to problems. It was important for Edmund to vent and let things go. “I know that you are looking out for me, and I am grateful
