Chapter 3965 Some Grieve, Some Rejoice

Author: Five Generals
During the long wait, everybody returned to their seats.

The seat right in the middle of the first row was left vacant. It was no secret that the seat belonged to Edmund.

Most came to the reception to get to know Edmund; too bad the VIP tended to arrive fashionably late.

Nevertheless, it would be an honor just to have a quick chat with Edmund.

Morris knew that he should not have come. However, there he was.

He said nothing about the snub, thinking he could handle the heat. He could ignore the hostile looks.

However, the struggle was real now that he was at the scene.

He looked at the empty seat next to him, his heart in his throat.

Edmund would never miss out on a chance to insult Morris, which put Morris on edge.

Still, Morris had to plant his bottom firmly on the chair, or this would be the last of the Siegfrieds.

He must seize the opportunity.

Feeling down, Morris looked to where a host took the stage.

The host sure knew how to work the crowd, sparking laught

Worst of all, learning that Clarice had bought the suit for Kaze disappointed Hallie greatly. She thought she had found a catch, but Kaze was nothing more than a bodyguard. “Now that you mention it, I did shop for your clothes. The custom suit is expensive, and it can’t be washed. Why don’t you wire the money to me?” Clarice smirked at Hallie. At that moment, regret finally kicked in. Hallie should have known better than to cross Clarice. “You’re the boss, Clarice. I’ll get you the money.” Though life was tough on Hallie, she was not deprived of material things. She might need to tighten her belt a little and cut back on buying designer dresses, but she could afford the money. There was no way she could get out of paying Clarice.“You’re really something. I can’t believe you’d grin and bear through it all.” Clarice was pretty mean in the heat of the moment. “I see my mistake, Clarice. I just wanted to know who he was. The girls are curious, too. We don’t want you to be tak

“If it’s an accident, just apologize and leave.” Kaze’s patience was running thin. Hallie just would not leave her alone, and he had little tolerance for those who played mind games. In fact, she had deliberately done it to get him to notice or make a pass at him. Kaze was not an idiot. He could see what Hallie was after, but she would not get her wish. Hallie thought that, after the stunt she pulled, she would get Kaze’s number. Yet, Kaze wanted nothing to do with her. One thing Hallie noticed, though, was that Kaze wanted no compensation for the experience suit. To him, it was nothing more than just clothes, and it proved that he was more than an ordinary bodyguard. The annual wages of a bodyguard would not cover the cost of the suit, and Kaze’s nonchalant attitude toward his clothes revealed his wealth. Having believed she had found the golden ticket, Hallie sank her claws in. Though Kaze was a pain, Hallie could use a good challenge. “I’m really sorry. I didn’t mean

Hallie was just looking out for herself. The only fault she had was picking the wrong guy. Kaze kept his gaze on the glass, not even engaging with Hallie. He could not speak on Hallie’s struggles since he had no idea. “Aren’t you going to comfort me or something?” Hallie thought she could gain some sympathy, but she found that Kaze was heartless. “Do you need any comfort? I thought you were a go-getter. You know what you want. You don’t need comfort. You’re out for sympathy. That’s how you’re going to hit on me.” Kaze cut to the chase as if he had read Hallie like a book. Hallie was taken aback. Kaze was not a familiar face in the upper crust. However, he was good-looking, tall, and charming. Hallie could imagine a good life as his wife. It was just a shame that Kaze’s nasty personality put her off. “I still don’t know your name. I recall Clarice hired a new bodyguard named Kaze. Are you him?” Hallie probed. If the guy were not Kaze, Hallie would drop a hint that Claric

“Even if you throw yourself at the guy, why must he pick you and give up his future? To many, Clarice is a free pass to riches. Any man who is lucky enough to marry Clarice will be related to Edmund. That’s a guarantee of a comfortable life.” Sophia tried to talk some sense into her foolish friend. “I understand your concern, but I’m not looking for anything else. I just want a place by his side. Nothing can stop you from getting what you want. I just hope you don’t regret the path you chose.” Though the others did not agree with Hallie, they kept their thoughts to themselves. It was Hallie’s choice. If successful, Hallie would become Clarice’s rival, and life would not be easy for her when she married Kaze. “What’s there to regret? I’m just getting to know him.” Hallie did not think it was a problem. “I’ll be right back,” she said confidently before strutting ahead, her chest out. Despite wanting to say more, Sophia held her tongue as Hallie’s mind was made up. “You don’

At the end of the day, these women just wanted a good man to marry, and attention was the way to get it.Their perspective was too narrow to see the bigger picture. Due to her love for extreme sports, Clarice adopted a carefree attitude toward life and death. She was not obsessed with material things. However, she was not about to turn down the good life that came her way. It was absurd that these socialites strived to acquire the best, even when they lacked the means to support the lifestyle. Clarice hated their guts. “They always stand in a corner, criticizing everyone who enters. “I feel sorry for them. They have no say in their marriage. So long as the man has money, the family will approve, even if he’s married before.” To Clarice, these women’s lives were nothing short of tragic. They were nothing more than just dolls to their families. Their good looks were used as currency for their marriage. Yet, these women never pushed back, content in their comfort zone.

  • Guardian-In-Law   Chapter 3969 The Socialites’ Jealousy

For these socialites, their attire was their armor. Appearance meant everything to them. Clarice, the ugly duckling, had suddenly turned into a beautiful swan. It was not a change that the socialites could accept or tolerate. Livid, they were tempted to put Clarice in her place. When their eyes fell on Kaze, jealousy consumed them. Clarice somehow got all the best that life had to offer. Kaze was not the most gorgeous man, but his looks were the type to grow on anyone. The black suit fitted Kaze’s tall frame perfectly, giving him an added touch of sophistication. That was the very thing the socialites would die for. Their entire existence had been dedicated to finding a good man to marry. By landing Mr. Right, these socialites would see their hard work pay off and bring honor to the family. It would be the fruit of their long-standing labor. They had been working toward their goal. Yet, Clarice seemed to have everything fall into her lap without even trying. The
