Chapter 4433 Darcy's Family

Author: Five Generals
“Leave it here. The chairwoman is busy. I’ll bring it to her later and send it back to you once she signs it,” Luca said and took the document. She did not want others to disturb Darcy.

“The chairwoman hasn’t come out of her office the whole day?”

“Stop being nosy. The chairwoman is just busy. Go back to your work. I’ll let you know when I get her signature,” Luca said and then put the document on her desk.

“Okay. Thank you, Luca.”

The guy then went back to work.

He felt strange at first but it was not the first time Darcy was caught up with work.

The antiquated courtyard was filled with buildings of ancient charm. In the northwest corner sat a study, complete with a floor-to-ceiling window.

The location was a little secluded but it granted a good view over the courtyard.

It was quiet with some puppies running around the yard, looking absolutely serene.

The birds would fly in and tease the puppies for fun.

The puppies tried to catch the birds but always missed.

Kaze nodded in silence and then left the office. Agnes saw the look on Kaze’s face and assumed it was disappointment, which put a grin on her face. “Does he do nothing in this company and always trouble my daughter?” Agnes stubbornly assumed that Kaze was useless and the only thing he could do in the company was please her daughter. “Madam Quint, it’s not like that. Kaze is outstanding. He already secured several deals for our company. His team is making a lot of progress, and he’s one of the best managers we have here.” Luca did not know if she should defend Kaze, but speaking the truth should be the right way to go. “Do you two know each other? Does your boss always meet with him?” Agnes looked at Luca with narrowed eyes, feeling suspicious. “It’s not like that. I’m just telling the truth, I am not distorting the facts. You can ask the other employees to verify what I said. Kaze has a good image here in our office. “He joined us just recently, but he worked hard and

Agnes was not aware of this, so she would not be coming to the office so often. Darcy was talking to Ricky while worrying about Kaze. She brought Ricky around the office and introduced him to the different departments. Ricky initially had concerns over the company’s performance, but after a simple tour, he realized he was being prejudiced. “I did some research on your company, and to be honest, it’s nothing stellar. The projects are limited, and they don’t seem promising, but now I realize a good boss can change a company’s fate.” He praised Darcy’s ability, which he believed she deserved. “Thank you for your kind words. Our company is doing okay. I did change things around here so that we can operate smoother, but the employees are great,” Darcy replied. As for what would happen from hereon, she had no control at all. As long as she remained with the company, she would do her absolute best to make it profitable. They toured around the office, chatting and looking aroun

“I don’t believe a word you say. I know exactly what you are thinking, and no matter what foul thoughts you have, you won’t succeed!” Agnes grew wary, knowing that Kaze was around, and she would never let him have his way. She would never allow him to be with Darcy anymore. Given her usual temper, she would lash out at Kaze and scold him in his face. However, Agnes could not make a scene at the office because it would make Darcy look bad. She could not afford to let others know either. Knowing that she had to keep her demeanor, she felt aggrieved. She hated everything she saw before her eyes. “I have no plans at all. You’ve misunderstood me from the start,” Kaze explained nonchalantly. Even though he knew Agnes would never believe him, he continued. Right after Darcy came out from her office, she received news that Edmund’s nephew, Ricky, was coming over. She had never heard of Edmund having a nephew, but after asking around, she learned that the young man was a dista

“Don’t you defend Kaze anymore. I know what is going on in his head. He’s a nobody, a greedy, poor man who wants to leech off you. I thought he was not all that bad when he agreed to divorce you, but now he’s just trying to lure us into something bigger. “He had nothing to do with you anymore, yet he is here, at your company, trying to give you trouble.” Agnes was furious thinking about Kaze. She never thought her daughter would be this rebellious. Her daughter could have told her, and she could have gotten rid of Kaze for her, but it did not happen. She stubbornly blamed it on Kaze. “It’s not like that. Can you not distort the truth?” Darcy felt bad, especially when she saw Kaze, who stayed quiet. She did not know how to convince her mother. “How much do you want? Or what do you want? Name it and I will give it to you. You have to promise to stay away from my daughter! She’s beautiful and powerful; she should be with someone of her standards, not you! I won’t allow you t

The teacup was part of an expensive tea set and a collector’s item. Agnes was strict with her lifestyle standards and if the cup was not something of her preference, she would never drink from it. Luca knew her preference, so she brought in the teacup to please her. Agnes looked at the cup on the table. She picked it up to have a closer look. It sparked joy in her gaze. “You are a smart girl. You know what I like. This is from Uleania, right? I haven’t seen this brand before.” One of her hobbies was collecting expensive tea sets. She had never used any of her collection but she loved to keep them. She was rich and had time, so she could spend lavishly on things she did not need. “It’s because the chairwoman reminded me of your preference, that’s why I was able to present this to you,” Luca said. She could tell her boss was having an argument with her mother, and as the assistant, she sided with her boss. If she could just ease the tension between the two, it would be

“No, Mother. It’s my honor that I can give you money to use. I didn’t mean it any other way,” Darcy said seriously as she looked at her mother. Her tone made Agnes angrier. “You are not the only one earning money. I am doing my best to take care of the family and be the bridge between you and the Quint family. You shouldn’t use that tone with me,” Agnes said, trying to seize the superiority back. On second thought, she really did nothing for her daughter. “I brought Sky up. He’s healthy and adorable.” She tried to find achievements to prove herself. “Yes. He’s… alive.” Darcy nodded, which made her mother angrier. As a mother of two, Agnes knew the difference between Darcy and Sky, and she was just lying to herself. She was silenced but she did not want to argue anymore. It felt like she was punching air, talking to Darcy. They soon arrived at the company’s lobby. Agnes frowned at the building because it was located at a secluded corner of the city. “Why is the o
