Chapter 4540 Blinded By Short-term Gain

作者: Five Generals
Even if Agnes could not win the leader’s attention, she could also mingle with the other families at the auction.

Her heels echoed through the hallway as she headed straight for Darcy’s office. She had been there before, so all the employees recognized her.

“Mrs. Quint, are you here for the chairwoman? Should I let her know?” Jenny asked as she stood up.

“Is she busy? I’ll just go to her office,” Agnes said, already making her way to Darcy’s office.

The employees saw her but dared not stop her. The mother was there for the daughter, which meant it was likely a family affair, and they wanted no part in it.

Everyone returned to their desks, but whispers quickly broke out.

“Why is Mrs. Quint here?”

“God knows. She’s here for the boss, of course.”

“I hope she’s not here to cause trouble. Ms. Quint has been busy in the last few days because of the project.”

“Yeah. Ms. Quint is not like herself lately. She’s trying to be patient, but I can tell she’s facing a lot of pressur

All of these chapters and we still don’t have a conclusion to the Russell or Quill situation...‍♀️. This is dragging the story out - no one cares about Agnes & my like for Darcy is waning. Just let Kaze identify himself and shut all of them up!

  • Guardian-In-Law   Chapter 4542 Argument

“Stop it! I won’t say yes, and I won’t do as you say. Forget about it! I won’t sell myself and I won’t turn myself into a clown!” Darcy refused to be her mother’s puppet. Agnes thought she had her temper under control today and did not lash out at her daughter, nor choose any harsh words, yet her daughter refused to listen to her. She was losing her patience, and her anger was piling up. “Listen to yourself! What are you talking about? Did I ask you to murder someone? I just want you to talk to Edmund Witterson. If he doesn't want to give you the invitation, this would be over, but you don’t want to try.” Agnes regained her composure as she tried to persuade Darcy. She just needed Darcy to listen to her this one time and not disappoint her again. She always hoped Darcy would listen to her. Darcy shook her head in silence, her expression darkened. She would never compromise or listen to her mother. She knew once she compromised, she would lose her personality and integri

  • Guardian-In-Law   Chapter 4541 Embarrassed You?

Agnes had always been selfish. She cared about her personal gains and disregarded her daughter’s feelings. Darcy refused to compromise, which was why she worked hard to climb higher to the peak. With power, her mother would not be able to control her. Yet after all that Darcy had worked, Agnes was still trying to manipulate Darcy’s life, which irritated Darcy. “Why are you so foolish? This is a good chance, and you should attend. Even if it’s not business, you can talk about something else,” Agnes grumbled, looking at her daughter with a frown. Agnes felt like she was losing control over Darcy. She felt irritated at times, but she did not want to give up her control over her daughter. “Only those with status and a strong background can attend the private auction. You can meet them and expand your connections even if it’s not business-related. If they are interested in you, develop a relationship and get married. “If you don’t want any of them, why not consider the chief o

“This is going too far, even for Edmund Witterson. The market is big, and they shouldn’t monopolize everything. But he’s determined to control everything,” Ruth grumbled, voicing her disagreement. “They originally wanted to team up against Witterson, but then the auction was announced, and now they’re all scrambling to please him instead.” Margot was also unhappy with the turn of events, but there was no way she or her husband could avoid it. “If I had known about this earlier, I wouldn’t have told my husband to turn against Witterson. Now that he had practically offended the whole of Witterson Corporation, it was difficult to get the invitation,” Ruth said with a sigh. Her family was not as strong as Margot’s, and they couldn’t throw money around as generously. Even now, they still had not secured an invitation. Her husband, Marcell, was still working on it, but had already spent a fortune with no word back. Margot did not comment, quietly sipping on her tea. There was no ne

  • Guardian-In-Law   Chapter 4538 Leave It

“Why are you so stubborn? Think about what you’ve been through or what’s going to happen to you in the future?” Agnes bellowed. She started to worry about her daughter. Her daughter was beautiful and capable. It should be easy for her to get a good man with equal status. However, Darcy only cared about her career and had zero interest in marriage. As a mother, Agnes was deeply worried. “Stop wasting time convincing me. If you’re bored, go shopping or something,” Darcy said, setting her glass down and getting ready to leave. She had eaten her breakfast, and there was no need to waste time with her mother anymore. “Can’t you just listen to me?” Agnes bellowed. She was frustrated that her daughter did not listen to her, but she could not get through to the girl either. Darcy got changed and left home for work. She did not want to be under the same roof as her mother, but she could not escape just yet. They rarely met in person during weekdays. Darcy often worked until late

Not all things had to be done immediately. Kaze could afford to wait, but he could not allow those people from the north to run wild in his territory and cause problems. Kaze had learned to be patient from his years of experience. For now, there was nothing more to do except hold his position and wait for good news. After some consideration, he decided to live his undercover life and go to work as usual. Since no one noticed anything strange about his background, it would not cause any problems, and he did not need to worry. Besides, Russell’s every move was right under his eyes. By simple observation, Kaze could also figure out what Russell’s master would do and could lure them into the trap. “Now that I’ve figured them out, I don’t need to worry so much. I have control now.” With that, he got up and went for a morning jog. His daily routine had been the same since he came to Westeros, and strangely, he never got bored with it. Dwight usually woke up late because he worked
