Chapter 4711 Common Goal

Author: Five Generals
“That’s pretty long. You must know a lot about the company, having contributed so much.”

Agnes nodded in approval of Bert’s abilities.

“Yes. I’ve done so much for the company, but I get little in return,” Bert said, disgruntled. It appeared there was something on his mind.

“You’re a brilliant employee. How could the company neglect you?” Agnes asked deliberately to get Bert talking.

“I don’t know. As a veteran here, I should earn a higher salary than the new hire, but he’s getting more projects with better prospects than I have.”

Knowing why Agnes sought him out, Bert took his chance.

He still had no idea why Agnes would ask about work. So Bert probed around to see what Agnes was getting at.

“Who’s in your way?” Agnes asked eagerly, hoping to confirm her thoughts.

“He’s a newly joined manager. There’s nothing remarkable about him, but Ms. Quint trusts him a lot. He gets all the extra projects.”

Bert did not name Kaze to sound Agnes out. For all she knew, they could share a com

“I just hope these people act fast and sort out everything without any complications.”There was a determined look on Agnes’ face. She was committed to getting her way.Kaze had been waiting for the drama to break out. Sure enough, the word was finally out in the afternoon.Apparently, his team’s business proposal had been compromised, and their competitor had announced the project details in advance. It was a major issue for the company, and it got a lot of attention from management.Kaze was working in his office when the door swung open. The person was rude, not even saying hello.“Get out here, Kaze!”Bert, along with the other managers, gathered outside Kaze’s office. Most employees poked their heads out of curiosity. However, they stayed out of the danger zone, for fear they might get caught up in the mess. They had no idea what was going on, but the tension was palpable.Kaze looked out and rose to his feet without a word before taking large strides out.Standing outs

“We should talk about what we are going to do.”“I think the best course of action is to leak his projects. We can make it look like Kaze has betrayed the company by selling confidential files.“We can set things up and make him leave the company,” Bert said with a victorious smile.“I know he’s working on a major project that’s nearing completion.“I’m pretty tight with one employee on his team. I can get some files from him and sell Kaze out.”“This is going to be easy. The plan can’t go wrong so long as we are all on it.”Bert was pleased with the results. The other managers smiled, sharing the same thoughts as Bert.“We should all give what we can and get this done and out of the way,” Bert said. The managers raised their glasses to toast.“So it’s decided.”The managers grinned as if they had won, crushing their only obstacle.Kaze, on the other hand, was oblivious to the managers’ scheming. He had never seen them as a threat anyway, so he did not send anyone to keep

Kaze knew that Agnes would give him hell. However, he did not want to say much. After all, Agnes was never the type to know when to stop. Even when Darcy gave in to her demands, she only wanted more.“That woman is awful. When will she wake up?”Kaze shook his head in resignation at the thought of Agnes. He had warned Darcy to be careful of her mother, but she would not take his advice.Darcy was so wrapped up in the idea of love that she could not let go of her mother, which had led to Agnes’ out-of-control behavior. One day, Darcy would pay the price and wish she had made a different decision.Kaze would not get too involved in the matter since it was Darcy’s choice. She would have to live with it.Once again, Darcy worked late into the night. When she arrived home, Agnes was nowhere to be found. Darcy assumed that Agnes was in bed, so she put the thought behind her and dragged her weary body to pack a bag.She would be away for a few days and needed her things. Before da

“I’m sorry. I had no idea. I wouldn’t have put you through that if I were aware of how the Hanbergs operated,” Agnes uttered in regret, hoping to patch things up with Darcy. “I don’t believe you. I find you fake.” Darcy did not have any faith in her mother. Agnes was likely at the office to ask for something. No one knew Agnes like Darcy did, and it was heartbreaking for Darcy to go through what she did. “How could you say that? How could you hurt my feelings?” Agnes felt upset. “I’ll do my best to give you what you want, but don’t talk to me about family.” Darcy had lost all her trust in Agnes. It was best not to waste more of her time on the matter. “All I want is for you to have a proper talk with me.” Agnes tried to persuade her daughter instead of fighting over little things. Hopefully, Darcy would see things her way. “I’m swamped with work. I don’t have time for a talk. I’m going away on business tomorrow.” Darcy was done with the conversation. She had nothi

The person seemed to have a problem with Kaze, even getting aggressive with him. The details did not go unnoticed, and Agnes saw it as a good thing. That was what Agnes was after. Her wish was for others to turn against Kaze, allowing her to benefit from the conflict while getting the opportunity to take a swipe at him. “What are you doing here? Do you need anything?” Darcy was not happy to see her mother. She assumed that Agnes would get tired of waiting and just leave. However, there she was. The point was, Agnes was not the least bit apologetic when she saw Darcy. All Agnes did was stare at Kaze in the crowd. Darcy went up to Agnes, worried that she might harm Kaze. Darcy had always known that Agnes was driven by greed. However, she never thought that Agnes would sell her daughter out completely. “Why else do you think I’m here for? Of course, I came to see you.” Agnes glanced at the crowd before striding into the office. She did not even say hello to the rest. Ber
