CAESAR

Her breath fanned the back of my neck heavily as I carried her. The royal palace was within my reach now, and I increased my running pace.

The royal palace was a completely different building from the warriors' chambers and was guarded by warriors.

Miriam had already spotted me coming from a distance, and I saw her helping me distract the warriors guarding the main gate while I sneaked through the palace gate, carrying Esmeray, who was howling in pain, tightly on my back.

She gave me a signal to wait for her in a darker place in the palace where the moonlight wasn't as visible. I waited for her to return from distracting the warriors.

It didn't take long before she appeared and signaled me to follow her quietly into the royal palace. I nodded in response. She had already noticed Esmeray on my back but was more focused on getting her inside the palace before asking any questions.
