Ever since that day, Ryder became colder than he had ever been before. He acted like nothing had happened. He stopped mentioning Eunice’s name and avoided any conversation that reminded him of her. But every night told a different story.

Each time he closed his eyes, Eunice appeared in his dreams. Sometimes she was smiling at him the way she used to. Sometimes she was crying, holding her stomach, calling his name. Ryder would wake up drenched in sweat, his heart racing, his chest tight. Sleep became his enemy.

Yes, she betrayed me, he thought countless times while staring at the ceiling. But was it right to throw her out when she was pregnant with my child? Am I really right? Or am I just angry?

The questions had no answers, and they slowly ate at him.

That morning, Ryder dressed quickly and stepped out of his room. His expression was hard, his eyes dark. As he walked toward the entrance of the mansion, bodyguards flanked him on both sides.

He looked at them briefly and scof

Kellan opened his eyes slowly and sat up on the bed. A dull ache spread across his body the moment he moved. His ribs hurt and his jaw hurt. Even his head felt heavy. He lifted a hand and touched the side of his face gently, hissing when pain shot through him. Before he could fully process his surroundings, a smell drifted into his nose. It was the smell of food. Kellan frowned. He hadn’t ordered anything. And he was very sure he lived alone. He swung his legs off the bed and stood up, steadying himself for a moment before walking out of the room. As he followed the scent, his confusion only grew. It was coming from the kitchen. Kellan walked down the short hallway and stepped into the kitchen. That was when he saw him. Kyle stood by the counter, wearing an apron like he owned the place. He was busy stirring something on the stove, completely relaxed, as though this was his home and not Kellan’s. Kellan stared. “You are still here?” Kellan asked flatly. Kyle turned s

Arden slowly opened his eyes. He realized that he was no longer at the penthouse but inside a moving car. For a moment, he felt confused. Then he turned his head to the left and saw Ryder driving. Ryder glanced at him briefly before returning his eyes to the road. “You are awake finally,” Ryder said with a small smile. Arden rubbed his eyes and sat up properly. “Are we heading to the mansion?” Ryder nodded. As soon as Arden straightened up, his stomach growled loudly. He froze for a second, clearly embarrassed. Right. He hadn’t eaten since yesterday evening. With everything that had happened, hunger had been the last thing on his mind, but now it was impossible to ignore. Arden raised his head and looked at Ryder, who was focused on driving. Ryder’s expression was calm, but there were faint dark circles under his eyes. Should I tell him? Arden thought. Or wait until we get to the mansion and eat? He bit his lower lip and turned to face the window. Forget it. I’ll e

Kellan wiped his face slowly and laughed weakly. “You think beating me will change anything?” Ryan leaned closer, his voice calm but cold. “This isn’t Ryder asking anymore.” Kellan’s smile faded slightly. “He is in our group penthouse,” Kellan finally said. Ryder didn’t wait to hear anything else. He turned sharply and walked out of the club. People moved out of his way as he passed through the crowd. His face was dark and unreadable. He walked straight to the car and slid into the driver’s seat. Corner rushed after him. “Boss, let me drive you there,” he said quickly. “No,” Ryder replied simply. He started the engine and sped off before Corner could say another word. ~~~~~~~ Back inside the club, the noise had dropped slightly. Ryan bent down and helped Kellan sit on one of the couches near the bar. Kellan winced as he lowered himself, holding his ribs. Ryan studied his face. His lips were split and one eye was already swelling. “You can go after him,” Kellan

“If he hadn’t sent her out that night, she would still be alive today,” Kellan said as he turned to face Arden. “Do you see reasons why you shouldn’t be with him?” Arden stared at Kellan in utter silence. The room felt tight, like the walls were closing in. Kellan’s words hung in the air as Arden’s fingers curled slowly into the bedsheet beneath him as he took a breath. “You are selfish,” Arden finally said. Kellan froze. “What?” Arden sat up straighter, his voice shaking but firm. “What kind of friend are you? You said Ryder had difficulties during the time Eunice was around. Why then did you leave him when he needed you most? And then you came back to the mansion, learned everything that happened, and blamed it all on him.” Kellan’s jaw tightened. “How selfish you are,” Arden continued, his voice rising despite himself. “You disappeared when he was drowning. Now you stand here acting like the judge.” “So what was I supposed to do?” Kellan snapped. “Smile with him aft

“The game is simple,” Dinte said as he stopped walking. “Between her,” he said, pointing at Eunice, “and your family, choose one. Whoever you choose will go home with you. The other you don’t choose will be my property.” Dinte smirked. “You devil!” Eunice shouted. “Is that even a game?” Dinte’s face darkened instantly. He walked toward her in quick strides and slapped her hard across the face. The sound echoed through the unfinished building. “Don’t talk when i am still talking,” Dinte said coldly. Ryder’s fists clenched so hard his knuckles turned white. His chest rose and fell as he struggled to breathe normally. “Will you play?” Dinte continued. “Well, not as if you have a choice.” “I do have a choice,” Ryder said calmly. For a brief second, Dinte looked surprised. Then— A gunshot rang out, then another and then several more. The five guards holding Ryder’s mother and Asher dropped to the ground almost at the same time, bullets tearing through them before they c

“Where the hell have you been all this while?” Ryan said as he came down the stairs. Kellan frowned deeply as he turned to face Ryder. “Maybe Ryder would explain why I had stopped coming,” Kellan said. Ryder sighed inwardly as he stared at Kellan blankly. “Where is Eunice?” Kellan asked. Ryder didn’t respond. Kellan looked from Ryder to Ryan, and without needing to be told, he understood. “You sent her out?!” Kellan yelled. “Calm down, Kellan. You need to hear the full story before you conclude,” Ryan said. Kellan nodded his head. “Alright, I am listening,” he said as he folded his arms. Ryan carefully explained everything, leaving no details aside. When Kellan heard it, he fully knew that Eunice was in the wrong, but the jealousy and anger he had toward Ryder blinded him from seeing anything wrong in her actions. “So, you decided to send her out?” Kellan said with a bitter chuckle. “I told her, didn’t I? That you are heartless and wicked.” “She betrayed him, K
