Jake scratched the back of his head, pensive in his small apartment while a powerful woman took a private tour of the living room. "Care for some...water, juice?" He was so nervous he could barely feel his tongue. An asteroid could fall out of the sky and he wouldn't be this affected.
He stood stiff when Iris veered. "I do not sip from every cup out there."
"Are you here to sue me for what happened? Cause I swear it was an accident. I wouldn't dream of causing harm to anyone and..."
"Why have you not answered our calls or shown up at the company?"
"You...your calls?" Jake was lost.
"Your application letter painted you out as one who was dying to work with us, yet here you are disrespecting my leniency," Iris did not blink.
"Pardon me but I had no idea Amery had been trying to reach me. My roommate was hoarding the mail for days, I just found out. May I ask what this is about?"
"A girl. About this height with purple hair. Says you defended her against a bully in an ally."
Jake tilted his head, thinking back on whether her words held meaning. When it zinged, his eyes grew a little wide. Did Iris Amery look into that incident to build a stronger case against him? "It happened on the day of the accident. I was just being a good citizen," he appealed to whatever conscience was buried behind that stone-cold face.
"Then there is nothing to discuss," Iris struts past him, towards the exit. Jake quickly runs over to get the door when she swings him a look. "Tomorrow, at exactly eight-thirty, I expect you to be at my office. Do not be late. You might not get lucky twice," her voice was thick on instructions.
Jake was as quiet as an owl as the vision of her disappeared down the hall. He would have said thank you but was chewing his mind figuring out what she had against him. "The mail!" Jake slapped his forehead and rushed back in. That ought to give him answers.
**
The following morning, Jake walked into the Mother House with jelly knees. He doubted his eyes, checking his watch every twenty seconds even though he was many minutes early. A couple of interns from the marketing department crashed into him on their way up. Jake was clueless when they mentioned their boss frequently bothering human resources to find him. His replies were substituted with empty smiles and nods.
Jake's mind was a mess when he reached the top floor. His palms grew sweaty after crossing the security checkpoint, where he was searched and escorted to the President's secretary. 'Gemma,' Jake read the name tag on the woman's breast pocket.
"She is ready for you," said the secretary.
It was a long walk to the office now that he thought of it. Jake constantly wiped his palm against his coat and the walls. He needed to work on his shallow breathing but there was no time for that. There was also no need to knock on a glass door when he was seen the second he got there.
He walked in, holding onto his nervous heart and his briefcase. If what he read in yesterday's mail was true, and that Amery wanted him back as an intern then all was well. And the universe had not given up on him.
The diamond queen was behind her desk, putting her name on a document she approved of. She stood as Jake drew nigh, posing in front of the table. The skirt of her crisp black suit pinched a few inches above her knees as she sat.
Jake was mindful of staring too hard at her bold matte lips. Paired with the derby hat resting on her head, he wondered if someone had died. He stuck his chest out when Iris checked her wrist.
"Let's make this brief. How bad do you want to be here?" She said.
"What...Mhm!" Jaske's throat clasped on him. "Sorry... This company and what it stands for motivate me. Amery is a home that does not despise small beginnings and for someone like me who's had close to nothing all his life, it's a beacon of hope and a tester of will."
"Hmm, whatever," Iris pitched her head up. Speeches like these were an easy bore. "How would you like to be a permanent staff in one of our branches, Jake?"
"Hah...That would be a dream come true," Jake's feet took an inch forward, revitalized for their purpose.
"Hmm," Iris nodded. "Very well. If you can prove your competence to me as an intern, you will have a place with us in the marketing department. Screw up and you're done here."
"..." Jake lost his tongue again due to shock.
Iris reaches behind for a notepad and scribbles down some words, "Gemma will see to it that your name is put on pending. In the meantime, I will find you an apartment closer, for convenience."
"An apartment? But I already have one," Jake did not get the whole idea.
"I am not stepping into that filth a second time. It's either I give you a place or you find a better one to lodge," it was an order. "My men will take you to a doctor to get some tests done. I will send for you when they're ready."
"Madam, I already provided the necessary medical reports. I am fit to work."
"Any idiot can fake a hospital report. If you have a problem with my demands, then perhaps you're not willing to work with me," Iris looked at him with darted eyes.
Jake's mouth was open but not a single beep came out till he closed it. Iris lowered her head to finish the notes. "They will pick you up tomorrow, at nine. I expect nothing but maximum cooperation, Jake Name."
"Ye...Yes, Madam," Jake spoke timidly.
"Good, give this to the secretary on your way out," Iris handed over the note. "That will be all for now. Return to your workstation at Marketing," she added.
Jake let out a deep gust when the elevator doors shut."What just happened?" He rubbed his face anxiously. He could swear he caught a glimpse of a tiny smirk on the President's face. Although he felt like a floating feather, his mind was pressed at Iris' peculiar demands.
Offering him a job? For what, spilling a beverage on her?
Apollo swung his fist the second Jake got close enough. He did not hold back his anger, and his men supported him wholeheartedly. Jake was denied the chance to speak. He managed to get a punch on Apollo, but his fighting chances grew slim as the other guards took hold of him.The cab driver was too scared to step out or even think of breaking up the fight. He tried to stop Iris from leaving the car, but she couldn't care less."What do you think you're doing?" Iris said, gaining attention as she got closer. Apollo let go of Jake and hastened to her. His hands fell on her cheeks, his eyes ridden with suspicion."Forgive me. I shouldn't have let you leave the house in this condition," said Apollo.Iris took his hands off, secretly enduring the pain in her gut. "I thought we agreed you were not going to lay a finger on my donor?"Apollo paused to soak in her expression. "There was CCTV footage of him pulling you against your will down the streets. Was I supposed to just sit quietly when
Apollo was doing his afternoon checks when he entered the security room. His mind was foggy, his knuckles tense. His fists got tighter whenever his memory jerked to previous nights: visions of his black leather belt scratching Iris' neck as she suffered for breath.Apollo had to shake that cold memory off a dozen times. He wasn't supposed to touch her. And now he felt guilty because he treated her too roughly, which may have fueled her sudden state. Iris was sick - too weak to be the commanding voice of the house. The men were snacking on sandwiches as they monitored the security cameras. Apollo was moving on to the next post when his eyes flashed over the screen. A person was standing at a corner of the main gates, hiding from the sun."Who is that?" He said."It’s the boss’s assistant. Should we let him in?" Said one of his men."No, I'll handle this myself." Apollo took his radio device and walked out.His steps lightened the closer he got to his place of interest. Jake was despera
He had her attention. Iris was a minute away from taking responsibility for Jake's swollen phallus. Her role was to house it till it was flaccid enough to fit in his pants. Her reward would be a good amount of jizz and a pleasurable sensation in her tummy.Iris's phone rang out of the blue. Jake, who wished to mute it, got a good look at the name on the screen.'It's that bodyguard.' Jake felt a wave of anger twisting in his throat. Iris was close to picking it up when he pushed it away from her reach. He placed some files on the gadget to minimize the noise and got to the bottom of Iris' panties.Iris was neither saying no nor yes, but her body was ready for him. Jake rubbed his crown against her entrance, loving the short shudders he got out of her. Iris bobbed forward ever so gently as he went it."Oww," her chin went down when she let out a soft coo. Jake stole a moment to admire her. Iris let go of her anger and took his gift. 'He's taking it slow? Since when has he been conside
Iris let herself in, pulling at her fingertips to take off the cotton gloves. She had been here a couple of times and knew her way around. "Hello, Ma'am." Larry popped out of the kitchen to welcome her. "I trust that you do not lack anything in this house," Iris said. "No, we're good," Jake responded instead, bypassing the visitor he had been dying to see earlier. Larry did not comment on the sudden switch in attitude. "I'll be in my room," he said. "Were you not busy in the kitchen? Stay, we'll talk in my room," Jake insisted, his tone a little thick.Iris followed Jake and waited by the bed while he shut the door. Her hands fumbled with her buttons as Jake sorted out the noise in his head. Quickly concluding, he turned towards the lady. "I appreciate you taking time off your schedule to see me, but-" Jake's mind rebooted when his eyes fell on Iris. Her blouse glided down her waist.'Don't end up like the last guy.' Apollo's advice began to shrink in Jake's head. He could swear
Iris slowed down her steps as she observed the number of cars parked outside the garage. When the servants who welcomed her confirmed her suspicions, she let out a stressed sigh. "Great, more badgers to fend off," she muttered. Her heels hit the floor in short, brisk steps as she went inside, heading straight to the main lounge downstairs."At last, the jester shows up," Charlotte said, spotting Iris from afar.Abigail sat in the middle, her head bowed like a drenched kitten. She rushed into Iris' arms, seeking refuge. Baron remained on the single couch with his legs crossed and a glass of liquor in hand. "All the fuss about gaining custody of our father's lastborn, and yet you can't even play the part of a guardian. Is this the time a responsible adult comes home?""What do you want?" Iris said.Charlotte stood next to Baron, feeling high and mighty with her sibling's support. "Don't you think you owe us an explanation for rubbing your bad luck off on that girl? What kind of guidanc
They raced through the dimly lit streets with the hazard lights on. Time seemed to blur into a hazy, surreal sequence of events. Jake's breathing was shallow and laboured, his body growing weaker with each passing moment.Iris held his hand tightly, engaging Jake with words, trying to keep him awake. Jake may be stubborn, but she couldn't help but blame herself. None of this would have happened if she stuck to her plan and got him home instead of giving in to his petty whims; she should have been stricter with him.Upon reaching the hospital, the medical staff immediately took over, whisking Jake away to the emergency room. Iris, barely holding it in, filled the doctors in on what had happened, desperately praying for a miracle. Hours later...Iris was confined to the waiting area, forced to wait on the doctors to work their magic. Dawn was fast approaching. The last time she saw Jake, he was cold and unresponsive. People in blue and white were performing chest compressions, administ
