Lillian walked slowly down the stairs in her mother's house and made her way into the kitchen to have her breakfast. It was the day she would be going to Abuja for the business trip, but had refused to go with Nath when he was leaving the previous day. The investors were arriving the following day, anyway. So, she had some hours to herself.
Plus, everything concerning where she would be lodging into throughout the days had been sorted by her capable mother.
She made herself some pancakes and decided to take some to her mother who was in the living room. "Hi, mum." She offered the plate of pancakes to her and placed the syrup on the table before her.
Nathaniel had shown her to her room which happened to be next door to his. He reserved two rooms when he had arrived and had given her the key to it the previous day when she arrived. And now that Lillian was thinking about it, she could not help but admit that he was sicha sweet and caring person. Well, she had known that a long time ago when they were kids and she was glad to know that had not changed about him.She quickly got into her black suit and white shirt, but spared herself the use of a tie. They would be meeting the investors in thirty minutes and needed to be on time with Nath. The investors had arrived a few hours earlier and had called for the meeting immediately. The meeting was actually sched
Lillian got out of her hotel room after she had made sure that Nathaniel had gone to his room after apologizing to her. She made her way to the room number that Clifford had given to her. It was already very late in the night and she had figured that was the best hour to discuss with the man about helping Nath. And even if she wanted to help Nathaniel, she did not want him to know about it. It would be better if he didn't know. She had knocked a few times before she heard a reply from inside of the room and the door opened to reveal Clifford. "Hello, Mister Clifford. Hope I didn't disturb your sleep," Lillian smiled as she asked. She was also in the bath robe she had brought from home as well. The average old man smiled in return. "I have
"It's actually so sad that he didn't get the investors," Mrs. William complained to her daughter for the umpteenth time."Mum, did you call me in here just to tell me that? It's been three days and you've been singing that to me ever since," Lillian said with a frown. She was actually starting to regret arguing with Nathaniel. She had thought she would take the upper hand after the investors called him, but unfortunately he had not heard anything from them. Not that he told her, but she knew he would have been there to inform her about it if he eventually got the investors, but he hadn't done that. She had been very worried ever since they got back and kept praying that Mr. Clifford would keep his word to her.
Lillian took the following day off from work, deciding to get some rest at home. And that was because she had slept in that morning while thinking of what happened between her and Nathaniel the previous day. He did a great job in ruining her mood. She had actually been very happy that he got the investors, but did he really have to think that low of her? She did not even do anything wrong.Perhaps, he was right. The way she had been treating him and acting like a bitch that she wasn't could have given off that aura. She had just finished texting Mr. Clifford on the phone to thank him for helping her when she got out of her room with a pair of shorts and armless top that was revealing the inscription on her arm. She was used to dressing li
It had slipped down her left arm, revealing her inscription but Nathaniel had covered his eyes childishly. "No, no, no. It's okay. Wear it, please. You can return it later," Nath suggested. She smiled at his childish behavior and put back the suit very well. "Open your eyes," she said and he obeyed and saw her smiling. "Are you a baby? Why did you do that? It's not like I'm getting all my clothes off," she said with a broad smile which he returned. She had managed to crawl out of her sad mood with his help.Nath only managed to laugh. "I am glad that lighten your mood. I don't like seeing you sad," he said. He had decided to be nice and tolerate her rudeness, if she ever decided to do that again, until he got a feedback from the age
Lillian got off work on a Wednesday evening and decided to visit her who had been absent for some days without permission nor did she call her to tell her her whereabouts. She had even called her to inform her about her mother's sickness and she had promised to get back to her but hadn't for a few days now. She could not help but feel that something was going on with her best friend. She was not even sure if she could call her that anymore. She had been avoiding her and it had been really obvious. She decided to pay her a surprise visit and talk things out. She parked her car in front of her house and walked in. She made attempts to open the door, but it was locked from behind. That assured her that she was at home. She knocked a few times before the door opened and revealed her best friend who immediately looked shocked to see
Nester got out of her car and walked gently to where she had made an appointment to meet with the agent she had hired to look for Lillian. She had always wished to find the woman first and could not have been more excited when she did. Her plan would go more smoothly than expected. She was going to make sure that her boss got to look only at her and no one else. She loved Nathaniel and really wished to have him for herself. That was why she was going to go through with what she was doing."Hello, ma'am," the agent addressed her politely as she got to where he was in the eatery they had decided to meet up.Nester nodded and her eyes swayed to the woman beside the agent who met her eyes, but said nothing. "Who is she, Fred?"
Lillian finally decided to come clean with Nathaniel. She planned to tell him everything about her. There was no reason why she should be hiding it anymore. Dorcas has been fooling her all along when she had only wished only for her happiness. Never would she have thought her best friend was jealous of her. What did she have to be jealous of? Was it because she was born rich? That was, of course, no excuse. The one with the good heart? Everyone has a good heart, though not everyone uses them. She must confess she was really disappointed. But if there was anything she learned, it was never to place anyone's happiness before her own. She should have just listened to her mother. Now, she regretted it. She had given the man she loved the impression that she hated him. Even if she had left some hints for him to think other
