CHAPTER 6: Curse

XYNETH'S POV

I kept glancing at Yves, watching as he observed his son eating. He must be feeling a mix of worry and relief now that Xavy was starting to eat his meals properly.

What a good father he is... and I'm sorry for doubting you, Yves. I can't apologize to you directly, but I'll apologize in my mind.

Xavy stopped eating and looked at his father. "Do you want to eat, Papa?"

Yves smiled and nodded. "Yes, I would like to."

I was stunned when he suddenly smiled. My heart skipped a beat as I saw how beautiful he looked when he smiled, especially with his eyes sparkling. He truly loves his son.

The way their eyes sparkled was so beautiful that it made my heart tighten a bit.

Xavy raised his head and looked up at me while still sitting on my lap. "Do you want to eat too?"

I smiled in response to his question. "Yes, but I'm afraid I'm already full. Remember, you fed me earlier?"

He nodded and then glanced at his father, who was busy serving food onto his plate.

Xavy looked at me again. "Then, how about you feed Papa and me?"

I froze when he asked me to do that. I mean, I've never really fed someone in my whole life, except for this adorable kid. But if Xavy asks me with his cute little face and sparkling eyes, I don't think I can say no to that.

I glanced at Yves, seeking his approval. It was clear that he didn't like being fed by someone else since he had his own hands. Who would want to be fed by someone like me? After all, I'm just their babysitter.

It's fine if he doesn't want me to feed him. I don't want to feed him either since he has two functioning hands.

I looked at Xavy, who was still looking up at me, waiting for my answer. I smiled at him. "How about both of us feed you, hmm?"

His eyebrows furrowed, and his face wrinkled. "Why? I want you to feed Papa and me."

I still want to leave, dear Xavy. I still love my life, and I haven't met the one who can make my heart beat fast—like doki doki. 

I sighed and looked at Yves, then at the fork that already had a piece of meat on it. I glanced at him, giving him a signal to open his mouth.

"Say ahh..." I shyly said, but he didn't budge. He just stared at me.

Come on, just take it already... it's so embarrassing. I mean, why would I even feed my boss?

Just pray for my soul tonight. He has this deadly glare that I can't resist.

How could I resist your son?! Just pick it up; my hands are starting to numb... Grrr... this handsome jerk!

Since my hands were starting to numb from waiting for him to pick up the meat with his mouth, I decided to withdraw my hands. But before I could, he caught hold of my hands and ate the meat.

Tss, if he wanted to eat it, he should have done so earlier.

He looked at me and then let go of my hands. "It's good."

"Yeah, it is," I answered back.

I pricked another piece of meat with the fork and fed it to Xavy. He immediately opened his mouth and savored the meat.

"Is it good?" I asked him, and he nodded enthusiastically before continuing to eat. This time, he held the fork himself and used his hands to feed himself.

I suppose he could feel the tension earlier, and he might have thought that we were uncomfortable feeding each other, so he didn't ask us to feed each other.

While he was still busy eating, I gently stroked his hair. He must have been really hungry.

I tapped his shoulder lightly. "Xavy, can you please get off me for a moment? I need to drink some water."

He stopped eating and looked at his father, who was also eating. "Papa," he called, making Yves look in his direction.

"Yes, do you need anything?" Yves asked, but as expected, he still had that emotionless and cold expression.

"Please give her a glass of water," Xavy said softly, causing my jaw to drop.

I panicked a little when he made that request to his father. I mean, dear Xavy, I'm the person who was hired by your Papa, so I shouldn't be ordering him around.

Damn... I'm going to get fired...

I nervously shook my head. "N-No need. I'm really not thirsty. I-I'm fine, really."

Yves looked at me. "Why are you stammering? Are you scared?"

Look, dude, you've already asked me that question three times.

Who wouldn't be scared if they were in my shoes?

I smiled sweetly. "No, of course not. But it's true that you don't have to go to such lengths to bring me a glass of water, since I'm not really thirsty."

He shrugged. "Who said I was going to bring you one?"

"Ha?"

Damn this handsome jerk! If you don't want to, then don't. You should have just said so! Grrr...

"Are you cursing me in your mind?" he coldly asked me, looking straight into my eyes. I had no choice but to meet his gaze since he didn't want me to avert my eyes.

I smiled at him. "Of course not, sir. Why would I curse you? By the way, why did you think that?"

He pointed at the spoon I was holding in my right hand. It was bent. The spoon wasn't the type to bend easily, but it did when I exerted my anger onto it, preventing me from speaking harshly.

I smiled at him and looked at the spoon. "Wow... This spoon is really easy to bend. Am I a psychic or what?"
