XYNETH'S POV
I am Xyneth Lava Asuncion, a hard-working woman, but I'm broke, which is why I'm desperate for another job. Today is my contract's end, so it's my last day working as a waitress in the restaurant.
I don't know why my life feels incomplete these past years. It's like I've forgotten something more valuable than my own life.
I sigh as I get back to work, serving the customers as usual.
I approach the woman sitting near the glass window and politely ask, "What is your order, Ma'am?"
The woman stops using her phone and looks at me. "I want adobo, sinigang, and steak. For dessert, I want macaroni and halo-halo."
I smile at her and reply, "Okay, Ma'am. Please wait for a minute, and we will serve your order." I turn my back to retrieve her order.
Heading to the kitchen, I grab the dishes the woman had ordered.
Rosalie, one of the staff working as a waitress in this restaurant, approaches me. "Dear, today is your last day, right?"
I chuckle. "Stop saying it like that. It might be misunderstood as if today is my last day on Earth."
She chuckles too. "Oh, sorry. Anyway, what are you going to do for your next job?"
I sigh as soon as I hear the words "next job." It will be hard for me to find a decent job that will hire me.
I shrug my shoulders. "I don't know, but I'm still going to find a job that has a high salary." I say as I pick up the dishes ordered by the woman earlier.
I glance at Rosalie. "I'm going now. The woman might be hungry waiting for her order to arrive." I say before leaving the kitchen to serve the woman's order.
As soon as I reach table 14, where the woman who ordered earlier is seated, I gently place all her orders on the table.
The woman smiles at me and says, "Thank you."
"It's my pleasure to serve you, Ma'am," I reply politely.
"I want to order too," a deep cold baritone voice says behind me.
I compose myself and politely turn around to look at him. As soon as I see him, my jaw almost drops. I'm shocked by his face—such a gorgeous face. He has thick eyebrows that make him more appealing, a pointed nose, red-plum lips—
"Are you done staring at me, woman?"
I almost jump in shock. I clear my throat before speaking. "W-What is your order, Sir?"
"I want Ulafia with hot sauce, and for the drink, I want plain water," he says while looking directly into my eyes, making me feel a little uncomfortable. But I still compose myself.
I smile, taking down his order in my notepad. "Noted. Please wait for a minute, and we will serve your order." I say before heading back to the kitchen to serve his order.
Rosalie approaches me again to whisper something. "Who's that hot man?"
"Hot? Ah... you mean the one at table 13? I don't know, but he seems familiar to me," I say nonchalantly.
"Familiar? How so?" she asks. Rosalie is the one who cooks his order; she's a chef here.
I shrug my shoulders. "I don't know, but his aura says so. It feels like he's a part of me or something like that."
Rosalie can't help but make a scoffing sound. "Dear, you just read too many novels." She chuckles at her response. "Yeah, maybe that's it."
As soon as Rosalie finishes cooking, she takes the man's order and goes to his table to serve it. When she arrives at table 13, she carefully places the Ulafia, making sure the soup doesn't spill, and puts the glass of water on his table.
The man looks at me once again and says, "Thank you."
I smile. "It's our pleasure to serve you, Sir." I say politely before going to another table to take their orders.
Today has been a hectic day. It's already 4:00 in the afternoon, and my body is screaming for rest. Who wouldn't be tired? Many customers have visited here. My contract ends at 9:00 in the evening, so I still have a few hours left.
Since I'm near the glass door, I greet the customer as soon as the doorbell rings.
"Welcome to the Paradise Restaurant," I say, slightly bowing my head without looking at the customer.
He chuckles. "We meet again, Honey."
As soon as I hear his voice, I immediately raise my head to look at him.
He's smiling from ear to ear, totally different from what I imagined. Well, don't blame me; that man has a cold and dangerous aura about him.
I'm momentarily stunned by the word "Honey," but I don't mind it.
I smile and reply, "We meet again, Sir. My name is not Honey, but Xyneth. The Paradise Restaurant is glad to have you back, Sir." I gesture with my hand, inviting him to come in.
"Oh, so your name is Xyneth?" he says, still smiling.
"Yes, that's my name," I reply.
"Xyneth is a good name, you know," he comments, making me smile. "Thank you."
"But Honey is way better than your name," he adds, making me chuckle.
I'm about to speak when Rosalie chimes in, "Oho... Honey? How about I call you 'F*ck off'? Dear Customer?"
I immediately turn around as soon as she says that. Rosalie is the same age as me, but she's sarcastic and has a foul mouth.
She speaks her mind, which is why she was assigned as a chef to prevent her from badmouthing the customers.
"Oh? F*ck off is a good name, but I wanted to be called Honey by her," the man says in a cold tone, pointing at me.
"Sorry, but we won't tolerate any flirtatious behavior here in our restaurant, especially when it involves our workers," Rosalie says in a menacing voice.
I quickly cover her mouth when I feel a strong, cold aura behind me. I still keep my hand over Rosalie's mouth as I turn my gaze to the man.
I smile. "I'm sorry for the inconvenience, and I also apologize for her behavior."
The man shakes his head. "That's fine. Anyways, I've lost my appetite to eat here. 'Til we meet again, Honey," he says before leaving.
I look at Rosalie. "Why did you do that?"
"Do what?" she looks innocent.
"Why did you say that to him?" I ask.
She hisses. "Can't you see that he was hitting on you? That sly man!"
"Do you know him?" I ask her.
She shakes her head. "No, but I can feel that he's a dangerous man. That's why I bad-mouthed him to stop him from hitting on you. He has this dangerous aura, especially that cold stare. I hope you won't see him again."
I don't respond or dare to speak back.
XYNETH'S POV I am already a jobless woman since my contract at Paradise Restaurant ended. Well, I was the one who said that the contract would only last for 4 months, and now I'm regretting those words. I had wanted to work there for a long time to meet that man again, but unfortunately, my contract ended. I sigh. I'm wearing a formal dress, and I was really looking forward to applying as a secretary at the Valdez Company. But due to my bad luck today, I wasn't accepted. I call Rosalie, and she immediately answers after one ring. "Yes?" "Rosalie, help," I say in a sad tone as I hold my shoulder bag, walking down the streets alone. "What?! What happened? Did someone rob you and try to do something bad?" she asks continuously in a horrified tone. I can't help but chuckle. "No, it's not that." Rosalie lets out a loud sigh of relief. "So, what do you mean by help?" "Help is the action of helping someone to do something; making it easier for someone to do something by offering one's
XYNETH'S POV I can't believe what just happened. Part of me had hoped that one day, I would cross paths with that man again, but I didn't expect it to happen so soon. I'm still trying to process the situation. The man chuckles at my expression. "What a small world, our paths always cross again." I don't know what to say, so I simply nod my head. "Are you uncomfortable?" he asks, and I immediately shake my head before speaking. "No, I'm not, Sir. It's just that I don't know exactly what to say. I apologize," I say politely. "Don't worry about it. Let's get to the point. I'm going to ask you some questions, and you have to answer them truthfully. Okay?" he says in a cold tone, enough to make me shiver a little. I nod my head. "Okay." He smiles at me. "Please sit on the couch. You might get tired if you keep standing," he says. I go to the couch near him without any complaints. I'm looking at his direction, and he's looking at me. I'm waiting for the interview to start. "Okay. Fi
THIRD PERSON'S POV Yves cleared his throat and glared back at Rosalie who was tightly clinging on Xyneth. Xyneth let out a sigh as she drank her champagne, not morning the two of them. Rosalie sat beside her while Yves was on the opposite side of them which made the position facing at each other while the table was between them. It wasn't until Xyneth couldn't take it anymore. "Rosalie, why do you always glare at him? He is now my boss, you know."Xyneth said making Rosalie dropped her jaw while her eyes was widened to shock. She looked at Xyneth who keeps on drinking Champagne, "Damn. What?!" She smiled at her, "Yes. I am the babysitter of his child, tho I still hasn't seen his child but I would seen him tomorrow when I'll start working as their babysitter." "What the f*ck?! How does this happened?!"She said loudly before she looked at Yves who was calmly drank the Tequila, "You did this on purpose for you to flirt with my best friend, right—Ah... you have a son already, I'm s
XYNETH'S POV I was already at the Emperial's Mansion, exactly at 4:00 in the morning. Thank goodness Yves had registered my fingerprint to open the door and gate, or else I would have spent the early morning outside the house. As I entered, the house was quiet, and I noticed a note stuck on the refrigerator. I read the words: "I have something to do today, please take good care of my son. I'll be back at six. Choose any room you prefer." That was the note Yves left. Following Yves' instructions, I looked at the rooms. I went up the stairs to the second floor and saw seven rooms with different colored doors. I chose the sky blue door, which thankfully wasn't locked. I looked around the room, which had a sky blue theme and a queen-size bed. I placed my luggage on the bed and opened it to unpack my clothes into the closet. I placed my laptop, phone, and notepad on the table, while other belongings were placed on another table. I hung my clothes in the closet and arranged my shoes an
XYNETH'S POV I kept glancing at Yves, watching as he observed his son eating. He must be feeling a mix of worry and relief now that Xavy was starting to eat his meals properly. What a good father he is... and I'm sorry for doubting you, Yves. I can't apologize to you directly, but I'll apologize in my mind. Xavy stopped eating and looked at his father. "Do you want to eat, Papa?" Yves smiled and nodded. "Yes, I would like to." I was stunned when he suddenly smiled. My heart skipped a beat as I saw how beautiful he looked when he smiled, especially with his eyes sparkling. He truly loves his son. The way their eyes sparkled was so beautiful that it made my heart tighten a bit. Xavy raised his head and looked up at me while still sitting on my lap. "Do you want to eat too?" I smiled in response to his question. "Yes, but I'm afraid I'm already full. Remember, you fed me earlier?" He nodded and then glanced at his father, who was busy serving food onto his plate. Xavy looked at
XYNETH'S POV "You're sleepy, right? Let's go to sleep," I said, but he shook his head. "I won't..." "But you just said earlier that you were sleepy, right? So let's go to your room and let's sleep," I softly said to him while he was still clinging onto me, and Yves was just staring at us doing nothing. The two maids were busy cleaning the table. "I'm sleepy, but I won't sleep," he insisted, making me sigh. "And why is that? It's already late at night, and you have to sleep so that you will grow fast," I told him, but he just pouted and kept insisting not to. "Can you tell me why you won't go to sleep, dear cutie?" I said sweetly to him, making him grin cheekily, but then his face suddenly turned sad. "Because I'm afraid that this might be a dream created in my mind. I'm afraid to wake up feeling empty, and I'm afraid to wake up without you," he sadly said. I couldn't help but pinch his cute, adorable cheeks. "Silly. Where did you learn to be so sweet? Don't worry, I won't go a
XYNETH'S POV I was huffing, catching my own breath as I ran hard. I didn't know where I was. All I could see was a dark, abandoned building. I didn't know why I was there. I ran as fast as I could, but it was no use. I heard growling noises, the sound of falling leaves being blown by the wind. My heart was beating so fast, and I could feel my legs shaking. I wanted to give up. In any minute, my legs could turn into jelly from nervousness and fear. My legs were trembling, and so was my whole body. My eyes started to water because of the darkness. I was scared of the darkness because I felt like someone might be watching over me. "H-Hello? W-Who are you? W-Why are you doing this?" I didn't know what came to my mind when I uttered those words. It felt natural when I spoke them. Where am I? Why am I here? Where is Yves, and where is Xavy? I clenched my fists to calm my nerves, but I was still shaking. I didn't know why I felt like this. I was startled when someone grabbed my hand.
