Chapter 6

As I made my way down the hallway, thoughts of the previous day's conversations I had had with Ruth's tilt Brown raced through my head. I couldn't help but crack a cheeky smile to myself; she had been so angry at me, and it was absolutely adorable that she was angry at me. She gave me the evil eye when I entered the classroom almost ten minutes after the bell had rung, before I had even sat down. Bucher didn't bother saying anything to me; instead, he continued on with his lecture without stopping.

I addressed her by saying, "Hello there," while moving my desk slightly forward and into the aisle so that I could stare directly into her eyes. Even though it was misting all day, the temperature was quite warm, and she had on a shirt with short sleeves and a V-neck. I thought the dark blue looked good on her; it contrasted nicely with her fair skin and brought out the color in her eyes. I liked how it looked.
