CHAPTER 16: YOU'RE HEAVY

It's minutes after midnight and still no word from Adrian. The ambulance arrived less than three minutes after they were called.

Gwyneth was carted off to the hospital along with Adrian. He instructed the kids to stay put; he was a bit upset with the girls for shocking their mother in the manner they did.

“Eva, you're gonna wear a hole in the floor," Kevin hisses.

“I can't help it. If Mama dies, I'll never forgive myself." Kevah continues to trot in worry.

She thought she acted selfishly for knowingly giving her mother such awful news in such a horrible manner.

A painful pang seeps its way into her heart. She feels like she will pass out any second. If only she could turn back time, she would have just bitten her tongue and let her mother talk down to her.

She blames Manny, something about him drives her to stand up for herself, but she chose the wrong occasion to do so. Now her mother may die because of her.

“How could you drop a bomb like that on your mother?" Trevor demands.
