Chapter 2

Author: Jazz Knight
Perhaps because the live stream had ended, Arthur sent me a message:

“Your mother's belongings are still here at the manor. Aren't you coming to collect them? Bella, as long as you can accept her and the pup, I promise everything will remain exactly as it was before.”

I did not reply.

When I arrived at the manor, Amy approached me with a deliberate sway, affectionately linking her arm through mine. "Bella, thank you for coming to see me. I didn’t know the master bedroom belonged to you. Arthur said it gets the best sunlight, which makes it easier to care for the pup, so he had me move in temporarily. Please don't be angry. Once the pup is a bit older, I will move out on my own."

I coldly pulled my arm away and ignored her, focusing entirely on Arthur instead. "Where are my mother's belongings?"

Amy's eyes welled with tears instantly, and she looked at Arthur with deep grievance. "Does the Luna dislike me? Maybe... maybe I should move out right now..."

The subtle smile Arthur had been wearing instantly vanished. "Bella, Amy is talking to you. You should at least respond to her politely."

I took a deep breath and turned to look at the tearful Amy. "Congratulations on successfully seducing my future mate and giving birth to the heir of the Silver Moon Pack. Keep planning well. I wish you a speedy rise to becoming the Luna."

"Bella!" Alpha Arthur growled at me.

Amy bit her lip, looking up at me with a face covered in tears. "Bella, I never intended to ruin your relationship. The healer said it would be very difficult for me to ever get pregnant again. In this lifetime, I'm afraid this pup is all I'll ever have..."

As she spoke, Amy clutched her chest and crouched down, her tears splashing heavily onto the floor.

Arthur's voice trembled instantly as he tightly embraced her. "What's wrong? Is your heart acting up again?"

Amy panted, her face deathly pale as she continued to explain. "You won't have to wait long. Just until the pup turns a month old... No, just two weeks! As soon as my body feels a bit better, I will leave immediately. I will absolutely never appear before you and the Alpha again!"

Having said that, she looked up at Alpha Arthur and then lowered her head. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have been wandering around Moonlight Park that night. If I hadn't, I wouldn't have run into the Alpha, wouldn't have given birth to the pup, and most importantly, wouldn't have broken Bella's heart..."

Amy wept until she could barely catch her breath, collapsing weakly into Arthur's arms.

The look he gave me was piercingly cold. "She apologized. Are you satisfied now?!"

"She's putting on the exact show you like to watch. What does that have to do with me? Give me my mother's belongings, and we'll be even from now on."

Arthur blocked my path, refusing to move.

Seeing this, Amy put on a helpful front. She stood up, picked up a box from the sofa, and walked toward me. I recognized it immediately; it was the box containing my mother's belongings.

When she reached the fireplace, Amy suddenly looked at me with a provocative smirk. I instantly realized something was wrong.

The next second, she intentionally flipped her hands, tossing the contents of the box straight toward the roaring fireplace. Amy then faked a trip, crashing heavily onto the floor.

"No!"

I rushed forward frantically. My mother’s favorite scarf, the oil painting she had personally painted, and her thick journals... everything was caught by the flames, turning to ash within seconds.

I thrust my hands directly into the fire to rescue what I could, desperately trying to salvage anything. Both of my hands were severely burned, but it was entirely futile.

"Bella!" Arthur held me back in a panic. "Dammit, you're going to scar yourself!"

I turned and glared at Amy, raising my hand to deliver a sharp slap to her face!

Amy clutched her cheek and wailed, "I'm sorry, Alpha. I just wanted to help Bella, I didn't expect it to turn out like this. It's all my fault for being too weak and accidentally falling..."

Arthur lifted Amy onto the sofa and then stood directly in front of me. "Bella, apologize to Amy! No matter what, you shouldn't have laid a hand on her."

Amy crawled over and wrapped her arms around his leg, begging. "Alpha, don't be like this. She just lost her mother, she's too heartbroken... just let her take her anger out on me! I beg of you, for the sake of the pup, forgive Bella just this once! Bella, I don't need you to apologize. I forgive you. Please don't fight with him, okay?"

I violently shook off Amy's hand.

Seeing that I had absolutely no intention of apologizing, Arthur’s face finally turned completely cold. "Someone, lock her in the basement so she can reflect on her behavior!"

At his command, several warriors materialized and pinned me down.

"Bella, I am ordering you right now in my capacity as the Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack to reflect on your mistakes. I will let you out in three days."

I raised my chin high. "By what right? I am not in the wrong!"

After a long silence, Arthur took a deep breath. Avoiding my gaze, he suppressed his rage, suddenly pulling me forcefully into his chest. "Alright, Bella. Amy isn't holding that slap against you, and neither will I. But you must go and reflect. This is to ensure you learn your lesson."

Arthur turned and walked away, and the guards dragged me down to the basement.

My hands shifted into wolf claws as I scratched violently against the heavy wooden door, roaring into the empty hallway until my strength was completely depleted and I collapsed onto the floor.

The events inside the Silver Moon Pack’s manor were never made public, but terrifying stories spread everywhere. Some said they heard Amy’s sharp, terrified wails lasting throughout the entire night. Others claimed they saw Arthur’s Beta dragging a blood-stained sack out of the pack in the dead of night. Three days later, the corpse of Amy’s brother was discovered in the black market where rogue wolves traded, alongside several pieces of jewelry that had not yet been turned into cash.Arthur openly announced to the outside world that very day that he was the one behind it all. He attempted to dispose of them using the most brutal methods imaginable, trying to salvage a shred of his dignity as an Alpha. But it was entirely a futile effort. No pack was willing to engage in commercial trade with the Silver Moon Pack ever again. The alliance between the Bloodthorn Pack and the Stoneclaw Pack grew more stable by the day. The arrival of Arthur’s mother and my grandmother’s furious outburst completely severed the relationship between the Stoneclaw Pack and the Silver Moon Pack. The news spread like wildfire across all the packs. I understood perfectly well that Arthur would never let this matter drop.Sure enough, Arthur called me that very evening. "Bella, you ought to understand exactly what kind of threats your pack members will face during the bitter winter without our alliance. Turn back now, and issue a public apology in your capacity as the future Luna of the Silver Moon Pack. This is your absolute last chance to earn my forgiveness."I listened to him finish in complete silence, my heart entirely devoid of any emotion. Once upon a time, every single suggestion he delivered in that commanding tone would make me overthink, constantly filled with anxiety over losing him. Looking back now, it simply felt ridiculous."Arthur, the treacherous one who needs to apologize is you, not me."The other en

Leo’s words struck my mind like a flash of lightning. Growing increasingly worried about my family back in the Stoneclaw Pack, I hurriedly rushed back. My grandmother was advanced in age and frequently struggled to recall recent events, but she remained extraordinarily attentive to everything concerning me. Following my mother's passing, she showered me with even more affection, terrified that I might suffer even the slightest grievance. When I informed her of my decision to follow the Moon Goddess’s will and hold a marking ceremony with my fated mate, grandmother looked at me, her eyes brimming with deep heartache. She didn't question my reasons, nor did she press me about why I abandoned my past obsession. She simply squeezed my hand with deep affection."I respect any decision you make. My only wish is for you to be happy and healthy forever. Nothing else matters."I rested my head against her lap, tears silently tracing down my face.Early the next morning, Arthur’s mother arri

Arthur scrambled up from the ground in a miserable state. Ignoring the blood at the corner of his mouth, he stared fixedly at Leo’s hand wrapped around my waist. "Leo, this is a private matter between Bella and me. Get the hell away from her!"Leo let out a cold laugh, tightening his grip around my waist to pull me a bit closer into his chest. "The exact moment she announced the cancellation of the alliance, Bella no longer had anything to do with your Silver Moon Pack. Bella is my fated mate, and she is under the protection of the Bloodthorn Pack. Arthur, the one who needs to get the hell away is you!"Arthur’s face turned completely ashen. His chest heaved violently as his gaze swept across my disheveled ceremonial gown. "Bella, you always absolutely despised the idea of accepting a fated mate. Are you intentionally using Leo just to make me angry?" He looked at me, attempting to inject a hint of his past warmth into his voice. "Bella, this is wrong. You can't keep making mistakes

“How did you end up in such a miserable state? Come on, I’m taking you back with me.”Leo brought me back to the Bloodthorn Pack. The manor walls were entirely covered in climbing vines, an unfamiliar sight that somehow made me feel completely grounded and safe.Leo's mother brought over a bowl of hot meat broth and watched me finish every drop. She wrapped her arms around me, gently patting my back. "Don't think about a single thing. Go run a bath and get a good night's rest."She carefully wrapped fresh gauze around my hands. "You absolutely cannot get these hands wet. I will go with you to help you bathe! Just consider me as your mother.""Mother?"I looked up in a daze, glancing at Leo’s mother before turning my head toward Leo. The tips of Leo's ears flushed slightly red."I'll go prepare some food," he muttered, stepping out.His mother explained with a warm smile, "Leo told me everything. Your marking ceremony is scheduled for two weeks from now. You and he were always me

Six years ago, the Stoneclaw Pack's caravan was ambushed by rogue wolves while crossing the canyon. To protect my young brother, my mother found herself pinned down, a rogue's razor-sharp claws pressed directly against her throat. I roared and charged forward, only to be violently swatted aside. As I howled at the sky, believing I was about to lose my family, the rogue wolf over my mother suddenly collapsed.Arthur leaped down from the high cliff, casually wiping the stained blood from his claws. At that exact moment, my heart skipped a beat. For the past five years, I memorized every single law of the Silver Moon Pack, strictly holding myself to the standards of a future Luna. To stay by his side during his distant military campaigns, I even personally tested medicinal herbs. He used to whisper countless beautiful vows, promising that I would be the sole love of his life. And now?
