Upon waking again, all I saw was a sea of white.

The nurse told me I had a fractured arm and some superficial abrasions, but my husband was in critical condition.

Perhaps the nurse felt that, as a wife, I should be anxious and worried about my husband's condition in the emergency room.

So, when I expressed my desire to get some fresh air, she led me to the emergency room where Wynn was.

I stared blankly at the continuously lit red light above the door, saying nothing.

The nurse by my side looked at me with concern and said, "Don't worry too much. The surgeon in there is the most experienced doctor in our hospital. The driver who lost control and crashed into you all was also saved by him. Your husband will be fine."

I tugged at the corner of my mouth and replied, "Hmm."

Perhaps she found me too indifferent, and for a moment, she didn't know what to say. She made an excuse and left.

My mind is in turmoil now.

Why did Wynn risk his life to protect me in that crisis?
