Chapter 2

Author: Elizabeth
My death was sudden and unexpected.

I was alone in the villa, and if Leo's servant hadn't returned for some papers, my body might have gone undiscovered for a long time.

Barely 12 hours passed between my death and the moment my body was taken to the woods to be cremated.

However, one thing was overlooked: the spot where I died hadn't been cleaned.

So, when Leo walked into the bathroom, he was met with a scene that looked like a crime had been committed.

"Judy!" he shouted loudly.

His shout nearly sent my soul flying out of my ghostly shell again.

“Why are you yelling so loud…” I muttered from the side. It was clear he was distracted. An Alpha as strong as himself would have been able to smell the blood the moment he walked into our den.

After I passed away, my lifeless body had slumped into the bathtub.

The mess outside wasn't that terrible.

"Couldn't Leo just clean it himself?" I muttered.

But obviously, he couldn't hear my silent complaints, and he didn't seem to care about tidying up either.

Instead, he was shaking with rage, pulled out his phone, and barked orders at his beta without even noticing I was standing right there.

"Get me another den. I'm moving out tomorrow!" he yelled, before throwing his phone to the floor, shattering it into pieces.

I'd never seen Leo so furious and out of control; it was a side of him I'd never witnessed before.

I let out a shaky breath

I patted my non-existent heartbeat, trying to calm myself down. For a second, I thought he had seen me.

Only after Leo left did I kneel down, almost masochistically, and stir the blood-stained water in the bathtub.

This was the second time I had seen a scene like this.

The first time was when I found out Leo had made me his mate for revenge. I was in the bathroom. The shock cause me to go dizzy and I slipped and fell hard unto the tub, blood flowing everywhere, taking the life of our unborn pup.

And the second time was when I took my own life.

Looking at the tub, it looked different from this perspective. More gruesome that I thought it was when it happened.

“Leo…” I muttered, looking at his retreating figure.

“If one day you learn that I had nothing to do with her death,

will you regret it?” I asked.

Leo and I spent one excruciating night in that den.

The next morning, Leo woke up early, changed, and headed into the mountains behind our den.

I overheard him telling his beta on the phone to clear out everything, saying he didn't want to see any reminders of me.

I didn't think he'd actually leave, though; not when his first love buried right on that mountain behind our den.

He arrived at her tombstone.

"Butterfly, she's gone now," Leo said, crouching by the grave and tracing the headstone with his fingers.

A photo of her was embedded in the stone. It was a picture of a bright, smiling she-wolf with a radiant grin. Her life had been cut short at just twenty years old.

The sight of this made me feel stupid. The den I loved so much, only existed because she was buried here. While I was cremated and scattered to the wind.

“I finally avenged you,” he said dreamily, staring blankly into space for a long, long time. My wolf trembled slightly in rage.

Love knelt there for a while.

Lately, I'd noticed Leo zoning out a lot, like his whole soul had been sucked out of him.

I didn't think it had anything to do with me, assuming it was just the emptiness that comes with finally achieving revenge.

After all, he'd spent years fueled by hatred for me, so it made sense that he'd feel hollow now that I was gone. It did not feel good knowing the alpha I loved so much only felt relieved because I was now dead.

Leo didn't leave the mountain until sunrise, and even then, he didn't head back to the villa.

Instead, he went straight to the garage and drove off. When I saw him heading to a rundown apartment complex on the outskirts of the pack, I realized what he was up to.

Following his memories, he knocked on the door of Butterfly's puphood home, but no one answered.

He knocked again, harder, several times, still getting no response. His agitation grew, and he started pounding on the door even more forcefully. The hinge of the door lifted at his sheer strength.

This time, he woke the neighbors.

“Who the hell—” a neighbor stepped out to ask in anger.

The neighbor's words trailed off as he stared at Leo in shock, taking in the transformation from a scrappy teenager to a powerful Alpha.

The neighbor swallowed his insults when he saw Leo.

"What happened to the family that lived here?" Leo asked icily.

The neighbor's expression turned ugly, and he rolled his eyes.

"They took the blood money for their daughter's life and split to enjoy it," he answered Leo.

Leo's frowned again his words, like he couldn't stomach the neighbor's crude words.

"Where did they go?" He asked dangerously.

The neighbor's irritation grew, but he felt the energy leaking of the alpha and he eyed Leo warily.

"How should I know? Who are you to grill me?" He asked with a slight trembled in his voice. It was clear he was scared of Leo. He thought Leo was a friend of the family and would hurt him at any moment.

"I'm... her mate," Leo replied.

The neighbor's eyes lit up with gossip. Suddenly calming down, as though felt Leo was the daughter's mate then it was fine to insult the family.

"You're the one she got conned, huh?" he sneered.

"Too bad Butterfly was born into the wrong family. They sold her out without a second thought." I felt a pang in my heart and glanced at Leo's face.

His eyes blazed with fury, and after a long pause, he spat out one word through gritted teeth:

"Sold...?"

I really couldn’t understand what was going on in Leo's mind at that moment. And what gave him the audacity to think I wasn’t actually dead and demand I be returned when he dumped my ashes himself. At this moment, all that mattered was that I felt lighter and lighter. I felt so light that even a gust of wind could carry me away. It was clearly almost time for me to vanish.Leo paced around the house. His inner wolf rage madly as he called my name over and over again. Leo was frantically searching through the den, but there wasn't much left to search. Most of the cabinets had already been emptied. I watched him from a nearby spot for a quarter of an hour as his wolf grew increasingly agitated. At 3 a.m., he barked into the phone at his assistant to come over.Soon the assistant arrived. Leo pointed at a cabinet and roared;"Where are the items that were in this cabinet?" The sleep-deprived assistant hesitated before responding, "Alpha, you instructed us to clear everything out..." Leo's outburst was silenced by those few words. The assistant arrived and departed, equally perplexed by the situation. Leo slumped to the floor, his gaze fixed on the diamond rings, his voice barely above a whisper: "This can't be happening. Judy, even in death, you're still tormenting me."Sure enough, he was pinning the blame on me.My wolf was furious at first, then weak again, at the thought of how insane he was acting.I really wanted to know what exactly he wa

The first thing leas saw as he opened the box, was a knitted sweater.Leo frowned and took out was a half-knitted little sweater. He had already found out about my pregnancy, so it was clear it was for our pup we never got to have.A long time ago, I had just found out I was pregnant. I was overjoyed. I’d bought yarn and started learning how to knit from a blogger online.I had no talent as the lines were crooked and the stitches wrong. But I recall how excited I was to learn and create something for the pup. I had thought Leo would like it too.But I never expected that less than a month later, that dream would be shattered. Now that he knew I’d once been pregnant, he didn’t show much of a reaction. But I could see him clench the tiny sweater tightly in his hands.Long time ago, when he was still pretending to love me, he used to say how he would love a pup in the future. That final night seemed like nothing had happened.Leo showered, and I sat nearby, staring to my favorite flower I had tended to when I was alive. "Judy," he called out suddenly. I stiffened. I had to remind myself that he could not see me. But it was hard after the years of suffering not to flinch from hearing my name.I waited until he didn't call again, then let out a silent sigh of relief. He had forgotten his clothes. In the past, I would bring them to him, but now I just stood outside, sulking. I knew he only called my name out of habit. When someone gets used to another's presence, the absence feels like a loss. The name he said was just a sound, not a real call for me.I went back to staring at my plants. I reached out and touched them and they moved. If Leo came out and saw them shaking, maybe he'd think the house was haunted. Scaring him wouldn't be bad, I thought. But an hour passed, and he still didn't come out. Out of habit, I started to worry. I opened the door, an

From that night on, Leo dropped all pretenses. He would hurled vicious insults at me, lock me inside the den, and forbid anyone from speaking to me. As the alpha of the pack it was easy for him to do anything he wanted to me.He confiscated my phone, and every time my father or brother called, I could only answer under his watchful, icy gaze. He said I needed to atone for my sins, the sin of taking the life of the she wolf he loved. Without me knowing, he had come to hate me so deeply that he wished I would die without a trace. And later, he got what he wanted. But why? Why was he still not happy? Did I suffer for nothing? Pain wretched through my wolf. Now, standing there with my prenatal report in hand, Leo was trembling with rage. It said I was seven weeks pregnant. The pup was only the size of a bean, barely able to be called a life yet but that was my pup. I could feel his heartbeat. But Leo couldn’t. So why did it hurt him too? Why is he acting all hurt when he hurt us?Why

On the way back, Leo drove faster than he ever had before. His face was darker than ever, his wolf panicking wildly..I could only sigh at this. I had always believed I wasn't the one who caused his beloved's death. But seeing him so sure and seeing how many things remained hidden, I was not so sure.Leo sped all the way, finally slamming the brakes at the gates of my family’s estate. The once-grand Judy’s family villa had fallen so quickly. Sure enough, one should not fight with a strong pack or make their Alpha your enemy. My family was a big example of this. As Leo entered, not a single servant was in sight. “Leo, you still dare to come here?!” My brother grabbed his collar and threw a punch at him, but he was too weak to fight an alpha. Leo casually shoved him away.“Get out of my way!” Leo’s face was like that of a demon. “I’m not here to fight you. Just tell me. Where did Judy’s heart come from?!” Leo asked.“Hahahahaha, where it came from?” My brother laughed wildly, breaki
