Chapter 3

Autor: 阿禾几
Theo stood at the doorway.

His gaze swept across the room before finally landing on Mia. A trace of disapproval appeared in his eyes.

“Mia! You’ve gone too far.”

I froze for a moment. That meant he was not surprised by what Mia had done to me. He only thought she had taken it too far.

The guards released their grip.

I straightened up, rubbed my aching wrists, and looked at Theo.

“Did you tell her to do this?”

He paused.

“Silvia, you have been spending a little too much.”

I let out a cold laugh.

“So you’ve always believed that I was living off you?”

“Theo.”

I stared directly into his eyes.

“Tell Mia who I am.”

Theo’s gaze flickered.

Then the look in his eyes changed into a kind of condescending pity, as if he were looking at a child who did not understand reality.

“Silvia, you’re just a girl my family adopted. You can’t keep relying on me to survive forever.”

I looked at Theo as if I were looking at a stranger.

The humble young man who had once stood nervously before me was long gone.

He turned toward Mia and gave her a tired smile.

“She’s always been like this. She thinks she’s the Alpha’s daughter. I’ve explained it to her many times, but she won’t listen.”

Mia wrapped her arm around his.

The contempt in her eyes turned into complete disgust as she looked at me.

“Theo, you’re too soft on her. You’re so busy running the pack you barely have time for a sip of water. You’ve supported her all these years, and this is how she repays you?”

I knew how demanding the responsibilities of an Alpha were.

That was why I had asked Theo before whether he needed more people to assist him or whether he wanted me to appoint someone else as Acting Alpha.

But he had refused, saying he could handle it himself.

I could no longer stay silent.

“Theo only had the authority to manage the pack because I appointed him as Acting Alpha.”

Mia looked at me as though I were a joke.

“Silvia, your wolf hasn’t even awakened. You think you had the right to appoint anyone?”

She laughed.

“That little seal ceremony of yours was nothing more than the Elder Council playing along with you out of respect for Theo. They were just humoring you.”

I turned my gaze toward Theo.

“Is that what you told her?”

Theo sighed helplessly.

“The Elder Council said it themselves. It was just a game of make-believe.”

“Mia may have gone too far, but she was only trying to help you. She wants you to become independent sooner. This is something she has to do as the future Luna.”

“If you’re worried about having no one to rely on once you’re an adult, we’ve already arranged a good match for you. You should have seen the marriage contract by now.”

I understood everything.

He had long since stopped believing that my wolf would ever awaken.

Everything that happened today was part of his plan.

He had encouraged Mia to make me give up my right to inherit the pack and all the assets that belonged to me.

“No need.”

I looked at Theo calmly.

“My affairs are not something you two get to decide.”

“This year, I will not renew your appointment.”

Theo looked taken aback.

Mia burst out laughing beside him.

“Grow up, Silvia. Stop living in your childhood fantasies. You’re just an adopted daughter. Your wolf will never awaken, and you will never become an Alpha.”

Theo’s expression darkened.

“Silvia, don’t embarrass yourself.”

His voice turned colder.

“I’ve played along with your little game of make-believe for all these years. It’s time for it to end.”

I looked at him without saying anything.

He thought I had finally given in.

His tone softened into patronizing indulgence.

“Fine. If you want to keep playing your little stamping game, I’ll go along with it. But from now on, you need to show Mia more respect.”

Mia leaned against his shoulder, smiling proudly.

I smiled as well.

“Alright,” I said. “Then we’ll meet at the full moon.”

After they left, I stood alone in my study, staring at the deer head mounted on the wall.

I had killed it myself when I was ten, with a single arrow through the throat.

I picked up my phone and called Grand Elder Harlan.

“Silvia?”

His voice was old, yet steady.

“Harlan,” I said, “notify the Alphas of the other packs. I want all of them to attend the first Full Moon Council Meeting three days from now.”

There was a silence of two seconds on the other end.

“Silvia, you’ve kept such a low profile all these years. Why are you summoning everyone now?”

I looked into the dark eyes of the deer head.

“To establish my authority.”

And to see how long Theo could keep his lie going.

After Mia learned that Theo had completely acknowledged me as the true Alpha, she caused a huge scene.According to Jacob, she had a fierce argument with Theo and smashed everything she could find in anger.“You’re just going to accept this? After spending twelve years building everything, you’re willing to give it all up just like that?”Theo only replied with one sentence.“That was never mine to begin with. The compensation that an Alpha should give me was not only fully provided, but even exceeded.”Mia was left completely speechless. The next day, she packed her belongings and returned to the Redstone Pack. Before leaving, she came to see me one last time. She stood beside the fountain in the estate garden, looking far worse than when she had first arrived. Her reddish-brown hair had lost its former shine, and dark circles had appeared beneath her eyes.“You’re not planning to take those mines back, are you?”I shook my head.“Once something has been given away, it belongs to you.

That night, Theo came to see me alone. He had no documents in his hands and no account books with him. He simply sat across from me and remained silent for a long time.In the end, I was the one who spoke first.“What do you want to ask?”Theo stared at the Alpha seal on the table, his voice hoarse.“What have these twelve years actually meant?”I paused for a moment.“The Acting Alpha of the Crescent Pack.”He let out a self-deprecating laugh.“The kind that is appointed for one year at a time?”“Yes.”“So it wasn’t because your father was the Alpha, and it wasn’t because you wanted to make me feel important?”“No.”Theo closed his eyes briefly. When he opened them again, his eyes were slightly red.“But Grand Elder Harlan clearly told me back then that it was only a ceremony.”I thought for a moment before remembering.“He wasn’t wrong.”Theo frowned.“What do you mean?”I looked at him calmly.“Who became the Acting Alpha was never the important part.”“To me, it was always just a s

Theo remained silent for a long time. After the elders had gradually left the conference room, he called me to the side hall.“Silvia, let’s talk privately.”I did not refuse. After all, twelve years of companionship and trust were not something that could be erased so easily that I would not even give him a chance to speak.Theo closed the door and got straight to the point.“I was wrong before, but replacing me so suddenly may not be the best decision for the pack.”His words carried more weight than Mia’s hastily fabricated ledger, so I did not argue. I simply motioned for him to continue.“The heads of the pack’s five major operations were all personally trained by me.”“The packs in Lake Rock Forest have worked with me for eight years. They only recognize me.”“You may have revoked my appointment today, but the connections and relationships I have built over all these years cannot simply disappear because you say so.”I nodded.“So?”Theo seemed to think that I had finally become

I no longer wanted to watch the two of them continue their ridiculous performance, so I picked up a ledger from the table.“Now.”I opened the first page.“The first item on today’s meeting agenda is the settlement of accounts.”Mia’s expression changed immediately, as if she had suddenly regained some hope.“What settlement? Theo has been the Alpha for so many years. When has he ever made a mistake?”I nodded.“Exactly. So we will first calculate his contributions, and then we will settle the accounts from the past few days.”Theo looked up at me.“Silvia, I have nothing to be ashamed of.”“That’s good.”I motioned for Jacob to bring out last year’s financial records.Theo had indeed never tampered with the accounts. In the previous year, the Crescent Pack’s territorial businesses had increased their net profits by twenty percent. The supply chain in Lake Rock Forest had been rebuilt under his management, and his responses to several rogue werewolf invasions had also been timely and e

Mia panicked, but as if she had suddenly thought of something, she turned around and glared at me.“Silvia, what kind of madness have you gotten into? How could you possibly make everyone cooperate with you in this ridiculous performance?”I looked at her and smiled.“Believe whatever you want.”Theo took a deep breath and stood up, placing both hands on the table. For the first time, there was an unmistakable urgency in his voice.“Grand Elder Harlan.”He looked at Harlan.“I have led the pack for twelve years, and everyone here has witnessed what I have done. Why would you all help her put on this childish act?”Harlan looked at him calmly.“Theo, do you believe that everything the pack has achieved over these years was because of your efforts?”Theo answered in a low voice.“At the very least, I have contributed a great deal. But Silvia has never done anything for the pack.”Harlan nodded.“Good. Then let everyone see for themselves.”As soon as he finished speaking, the doors of th

Mia probably believed that she was truly about to become the Luna of the Crescent Pack. The next day, she brought her people to my estate and had them remove my belongings piece by piece. She called it helping me repay my debt.Lily and the maids were furious. Their eyes were red with anger, and they wanted to stand up for me.“Don’t get worked up.”I stopped them and calmly recorded the first item in my notebook.I wanted to see just how far they would go when no one told them the truth, and then settle everything with them all at once. After that, Mia turned her attention to the pack’s accounts.Jewelry, luxury watches, expensive cars...Every gift she had sent to the Redstone Pack had been paid for from the Crescent Pack’s treasury. The financial director did not dare offend her, so he categorized each expense under “Alpha’s daily expenses” and processed the reimbursements. When the bill was placed in front of me, I flipped through two pages.“Approve it.”The financial director vis
