Chapter 2

Author: 阿禾几
Mia did not notice the strange expression on my face. She simply smiled and ran her fingers through her reddish-brown hair.

“Now that Theo and I have formed a mate bond, I will become the Luna of the Crescent Pack. Naturally, I need to teach you some manners.”

I frowned and interrupted her.

“I am not Theo’s adopted sister. I am the daughter of the Alpha of the Crescent Pack. Theo is only the Beta I appointed to temporarily manage the pack on my behalf. He is not the Alpha.”

Mia looked as if my answer had amused her.

“If Theo isn’t the Alpha, then who is? You?”

“How ridiculous.”

Her smile disappeared, and her gaze turned cold.

“You’re an unawakened failure. Besides running around the forest playing with dirt, what else can you possibly do?”

Mia lowered her head and looked at me, her eyes filled with mockery.

“Theo already told me everything. You’re not right in the head. You’ve been imagining you’re the Alpha’s daughter since you were a child.”

I pressed my lips together and said nothing.

So this was what Theo had told her.

It seemed that after managing the pack for twelve years, the power he held had grown so deeply rooted that he had begun to desire something that was never his to take.

Taking my silence as agreement, Mia pulled a black card from her pocket.

It was my black card.

“This,” she said, holding the card between two fingers and waving it in front of me, “I had it canceled for you.”

I suppressed the anger rising in my chest and asked calmly, “Why?”

“Your wolf hasn’t awakened, and you’re not an Alpha. How could you possibly enjoy privileges like these?”

Mia took the card back into her palm and lightly tapped it.

I stared at her.

The black card was linked to my personal account. The money was part of the private inheritance my father had left me, completely unrelated to the pack’s business.

“That’s my money!”

A trace of disdain appeared in Mia’s eyes.

“What money? Without Theo, you’d have been starving years ago!”

She believed Theo was the true Alpha of the Crescent Pack, and that everything I owned came from him.

Mia then ordered her guards to bring over a thick ledger.

“These are all your expenses since childhood.”

“Since your wolf never awakened and you’ve never contributed anything to the pack, Theo shouldn’t have to support you.”

She slammed a pen down on top of a debt agreement.

“You owe Theo a total of one hundred million gold coins. Sign it.”

I flipped through two pages of the ledger.

The records did not only include my personal expenses. They also contained compensation payments for my father’s former warriors, upgrades to the territory patrol system, and even the equipment purchased for the border patrol team last year.

Everything had been converted into gold coins and added together, creating an absurd number.

“One hundred million?”

I almost laughed from anger.

“This estate alone is worth more than that, and it’s part of the inheritance my father left me.”

Mia smiled.

“This estate was clearly left to Theo by his father. How did it suddenly become yours?”

I looked at her coldly.

I knew that no matter how much I explained now, to her it would only sound like another one of my delusions and lies.

It would be better to wait until Theo arrived and confront them both face-to-face.

Perhaps believing that I could no longer keep pretending, Mia clapped her hands.

Two guards stepped forward and began removing the belongings from the living room.

Among them was the family portrait of my parents and me, with the date handwritten by my father in the bottom right corner.

My mother had hung it there seventeen years ago.

Every day, I passed by it and saw it.

“Get rid of this useless junk.”

Mia brushed off nonexistent dust from her hands.

“It will only get in the way when I redecorate this place.”

But she was not finished. She had someone bring over another document, a marriage contract.

“The Alpha of the Dark Night Pack is currently looking for a mate.”

“You can marry him. I’ll even give you a discount and consider this debt settled.”

So she was not only after my money.

She also wanted to drive me out of the Crescent Pack.

I picked up the marriage contract and tore it apart in front of her.

“I am the future Alpha of this pack. You have no right to decide my future.”

Mia let out a sinister laugh.

“An unawakened parasite like you still dreams of becoming an Alpha? Don’t push your luck. You’re signing this debt agreement today whether you want to or not.”

“Grab her!”

Her guards rushed forward.

One grabbed each of my arms, holding me firmly in place. Their strength was overwhelming, as if they were deliberately trying to crush my bones.

Just as I was preparing to fight back, the doors opened.

“What are you doing?”

After Mia learned that Theo had completely acknowledged me as the true Alpha, she caused a huge scene.According to Jacob, she had a fierce argument with Theo and smashed everything she could find in anger.“You’re just going to accept this? After spending twelve years building everything, you’re willing to give it all up just like that?”Theo only replied with one sentence.“That was never mine to begin with. The compensation that an Alpha should give me was not only fully provided, but even exceeded.”Mia was left completely speechless. The next day, she packed her belongings and returned to the Redstone Pack. Before leaving, she came to see me one last time. She stood beside the fountain in the estate garden, looking far worse than when she had first arrived. Her reddish-brown hair had lost its former shine, and dark circles had appeared beneath her eyes.“You’re not planning to take those mines back, are you?”I shook my head.“Once something has been given away, it belongs to you.

That night, Theo came to see me alone. He had no documents in his hands and no account books with him. He simply sat across from me and remained silent for a long time.In the end, I was the one who spoke first.“What do you want to ask?”Theo stared at the Alpha seal on the table, his voice hoarse.“What have these twelve years actually meant?”I paused for a moment.“The Acting Alpha of the Crescent Pack.”He let out a self-deprecating laugh.“The kind that is appointed for one year at a time?”“Yes.”“So it wasn’t because your father was the Alpha, and it wasn’t because you wanted to make me feel important?”“No.”Theo closed his eyes briefly. When he opened them again, his eyes were slightly red.“But Grand Elder Harlan clearly told me back then that it was only a ceremony.”I thought for a moment before remembering.“He wasn’t wrong.”Theo frowned.“What do you mean?”I looked at him calmly.“Who became the Acting Alpha was never the important part.”“To me, it was always just a s

Theo remained silent for a long time. After the elders had gradually left the conference room, he called me to the side hall.“Silvia, let’s talk privately.”I did not refuse. After all, twelve years of companionship and trust were not something that could be erased so easily that I would not even give him a chance to speak.Theo closed the door and got straight to the point.“I was wrong before, but replacing me so suddenly may not be the best decision for the pack.”His words carried more weight than Mia’s hastily fabricated ledger, so I did not argue. I simply motioned for him to continue.“The heads of the pack’s five major operations were all personally trained by me.”“The packs in Lake Rock Forest have worked with me for eight years. They only recognize me.”“You may have revoked my appointment today, but the connections and relationships I have built over all these years cannot simply disappear because you say so.”I nodded.“So?”Theo seemed to think that I had finally become

I no longer wanted to watch the two of them continue their ridiculous performance, so I picked up a ledger from the table.“Now.”I opened the first page.“The first item on today’s meeting agenda is the settlement of accounts.”Mia’s expression changed immediately, as if she had suddenly regained some hope.“What settlement? Theo has been the Alpha for so many years. When has he ever made a mistake?”I nodded.“Exactly. So we will first calculate his contributions, and then we will settle the accounts from the past few days.”Theo looked up at me.“Silvia, I have nothing to be ashamed of.”“That’s good.”I motioned for Jacob to bring out last year’s financial records.Theo had indeed never tampered with the accounts. In the previous year, the Crescent Pack’s territorial businesses had increased their net profits by twenty percent. The supply chain in Lake Rock Forest had been rebuilt under his management, and his responses to several rogue werewolf invasions had also been timely and e

Mia panicked, but as if she had suddenly thought of something, she turned around and glared at me.“Silvia, what kind of madness have you gotten into? How could you possibly make everyone cooperate with you in this ridiculous performance?”I looked at her and smiled.“Believe whatever you want.”Theo took a deep breath and stood up, placing both hands on the table. For the first time, there was an unmistakable urgency in his voice.“Grand Elder Harlan.”He looked at Harlan.“I have led the pack for twelve years, and everyone here has witnessed what I have done. Why would you all help her put on this childish act?”Harlan looked at him calmly.“Theo, do you believe that everything the pack has achieved over these years was because of your efforts?”Theo answered in a low voice.“At the very least, I have contributed a great deal. But Silvia has never done anything for the pack.”Harlan nodded.“Good. Then let everyone see for themselves.”As soon as he finished speaking, the doors of th

Mia probably believed that she was truly about to become the Luna of the Crescent Pack. The next day, she brought her people to my estate and had them remove my belongings piece by piece. She called it helping me repay my debt.Lily and the maids were furious. Their eyes were red with anger, and they wanted to stand up for me.“Don’t get worked up.”I stopped them and calmly recorded the first item in my notebook.I wanted to see just how far they would go when no one told them the truth, and then settle everything with them all at once. After that, Mia turned her attention to the pack’s accounts.Jewelry, luxury watches, expensive cars...Every gift she had sent to the Redstone Pack had been paid for from the Crescent Pack’s treasury. The financial director did not dare offend her, so he categorized each expense under “Alpha’s daily expenses” and processed the reimbursements. When the bill was placed in front of me, I flipped through two pages.“Approve it.”The financial director vis
