Mellisa’s POV

As if everything that had already happened wasn’t chaotic enough, Tony suddenly threw his glare toward the stage like the stage offended him personally and then, he snapped, “Organizers, get your ass over here. Explain to me what the fuck is going on here!”

His voice boomed so loud it bounced off the walls that made people jerked in their seats, while a few gasped. I swear someone clutched their pearls. You know, that was embarrassing for himself and his company. Even Josh beside me muttered under his breath, “He has no shame.”

Before Tony could wind himself up for another outburst, a voice cut through the entire hall in a sharp, calm, and commanding tone.

“Who the hell do you think you are?”

And with that, every head turned.

The man who stepped forward looked like he had lived a full 70 years on earth, but for his voice? That one carried the energy of someone in his twenties as it was firm, steady, and unaffected by nonsense. The moment I saw his face, I recognized him

  • He Regrets After The Countdown to Our Divorce   Chapter 75 – 48 hours to raise the money!

Mellisa’s POVI was outside, feeling all restless as I moved around inside the police station building premises from one side of the space to the other. Because inside the police station report room, it seems like what they were doing with the tracking and every other thing right there wasn't enough. And again, it was like being at a particular spot made things worse or maybe I have been so comfortable which was just the least way of uncomfortability that I know that Hearty will be feeling wherever she is right now. Knowing her life was at risk and the thought of the fact that her health was stable at the moment even scared the living hell out of me.My chest felt tight, like something was squeezing me from the inside. I kept pacing with my phone clutched in my hand, staring at the screen even though there was nothing on it. Josh had tried talking to me earlier, telling me to breathe, but breathing felt like a luxury at this point. My mind kept racing: ‘What if they hurt her? What if

  • He Regrets After The Countdown to Our Divorce   Chapter 74 – This is no joke!

Sophia’s POV“Yeah, Tony,” I said into the phone as I shut the door behind me, lowering my voice so that no one would get to hear me. “Sure, the boys were able to get her to the building we agreed on keeping her when she gets kidnapped.”His sigh came through the line, heavy and irritated. “Good. That’s a good move. Just make sure you guys force her to persuade whoever she has to call to get a ransom. Threaten her however you can because we are definitely getting that money.”I pinched the bridge of my nose, listening to him continue like someone who’d been chewing on frustration all day.“You know we have gone bankrupt,” he went on, his tone sharp, “and we need that money — at least enough to get a good lawyer to know if we can get out of this police custody. Staying here is torture. I am depending on you to give your best shot. And don’t forget, you’re getting 20 percent of the money and so give it your best because that's huge.”“Sure,” I replied, trying to keep my voice steady eve

  • He Regrets After The Countdown to Our Divorce   Chapter 73 — Who could be behind this?

Mellisa’s POVHearty and Jack left the restaurant hand in hand — or rather, Jack pushing Hearty’s wheelchair and the little corner of quiet we’d carved out for ourselves felt suddenly too big when they were gone. Josh and I only kept talking about flowers, the guest list, the stupid little things that suddenly mattered when you were planning a life together and our wedding is in a month's time. It was the kind of easy conversation that stitches you back together as you know we wanted those stitches to hold and bound us when stronger. We didn’t check the time and we didn’t notice the phone buzz like an alarm until Josh’s screen lit up.He glanced down, smiled and straightened. And just then, picked the call and placed it on his left ear, “Hi, man — you must be having a good time with my future sister-in-law and…” His words trailed off.Something in his face went cold the way the air does right before a storm. His shoulders tightened and his jaw worked. The smile disappeared like someon

  • He Regrets After The Countdown to Our Divorce   Chapter 72 — Hearty is taken away.

Mellisa’s POVThe pasta arrived like a little miracle as it looked creamy, steaming, and exactly what Josh had ordered: Alfredo pasta with chicken and shrimp, finished with mint leaves that made the space smell like summer. We tucked in and the conversation settled into that easy rhythm that I love: the kind that threads between jokes and real moments without anyone needing to force it.While on that, I noticed that Jack kept sneaking looks at Hearty. It wasn’t subtle as his eyes kept drifting to the wheelchair, to the way she twirled the straw, to the soft line of her smile when someone said something funny. Josh noticed it too as he bumped my foot under the table and gave me that little grin that said, ‘go on,’ enjoy the show. I smiled back because things like that made me warm inside which was more of a small and honest sparks. After a while, I noticed that everyone focused on his food once again, especially Josh who also had a slight mean face or maybe something that I couldn't

  • He Regrets After The Countdown to Our Divorce   Chapter 71 — The little get-together.

Josh’s POVThe restaurant we walked into had that quiet kind of class — the type where the lighting sits low like it’s minding its business, the walls wear soft gold accents, and the whole place smells faintly of expensive spice and something sweet. Nothing loud or overwhelming though just calm, elegant, and exactly the kind of space you take the woman you love when you want her to feel special without making noise about it.Honestly, I chose this place because of her — Melissa. She didn’t have to say a word, but I could already tell she liked it. Her eyes had that tiny sparkle, the one she gets whenever something warms her heart even if she tries to hide it. And seeing her this happy since Hearty got out of coma? God… it does something to me every single time. It’s like if she laughs, my whole world shifts into place. If she smiles, my chest softens on its own. She doesn’t even try — she just is my peace.Melissa has been the missing piece I didn’t know I was searching for. I mean, M

  • He Regrets After The Countdown to Our Divorce   Chapter 70 —We have a wedding to plan.

Mellisa’s POVMrs Morgan snapped in shock, her voice wobbling between anger and disbelief.“How could you! How could you dare send officers to arrest my son and I?”But it was already too late for her outrage. The officers were quick…real too quick. Before she could finish her outrage speech or even attempt another dramatic turn, one officer pulled her hands behind her while the other slipped the cuffs on Tony like they had been waiting for this moment all the while. They didn’t even flinch at her protesting, you know.Tony, on the other hand, panicked immediately.P.A.N.I.C.K.E.D. - In capital letters. He jerked his hands around like a trapped chicken, looking everywhere except at the truth.“Come on, Mellisa. Don’t do this… don’t do this to us,” he choke-whined.Us?Who was the ‘us’ here if I may ask?And then came the cherry on the nonsense cake.“I used to be your lovely husband!” He added.I blinked.Josh froze behind me of how funny it all sounded.Even the officers paused like
