Chapter 2

Author: Cup Culprit
Her voice was whiny, tinged with a crying tone.

“Bear with it. This muscle is way too stiff. If I don't rub it out, how are you going to practice later?”

I pushed the door open.

In the huge rehearsal studio, Madison was wearing an extra-short practice skirt.

Her long legs were propped up on Sean without any reservation. His hands were tightly pinching the soft flesh of her inner thigh, pressing down again and again.

He pressed until Madison's face was flushed, and she was leaning entirely against his shoulder, trembling slightly.

It couldn't have looked any more suggestive.

Hearing the sound of the door opening, Sean reacted as if he had been burned, quickly letting go and standing up.

“Babe, you… you're here?

“Um, Madison… she just had a leg cramp. It hurt really badly, so I was helping her relieve it.”

A flash of awkwardness crossed Sean’s face, and he rubbed his hands together helplessly.

Behind him, Madison adjusted the hem of her skirt and looked at me provocatively.

“Yeah, Ellie, high-intensity training makes it easy to cramp up. If you don't handle it right away, you're done for. You understand, right?”

In the past, when other students in their dance company got cramps, Sean would always keep a cold face and tell them to massage it out for each other.

Back then, he always said that his wife was particular about cleanliness and that men and women should maintain proper boundaries.

So, it turned out that boundaries depended on the person.

However, it didn't matter because I didn't care anymore.

I casually tossed the knee pads onto a nearby chair.

“I understand,” I nodded.

“He’s the coach. For the sake of the competition results, it’s only right for him to help his students relax their muscles.”

Sean froze.

He had prepared a whole speech to coax me and had even braced himself for me to make a huge scene. But he never expected me to be this calm.

This abnormality made him feel uneasy, but Madison looped her arm through mine, smiling innocently.

“Thanks for understanding, Ellie! I've always said you are the most generous and wouldn't get blindly jealous.”

I quietly pulled my arm back.

“No need to thank me. It's what he's supposed to do.”

Seeing the tension ease, Sean let out a sigh of relief. However, as his gaze fell on my empty hands, he froze again.

“You… only brought the knee pads? What about the sandwiches?”

“I didn't have time to make them, since you wanted the knee pads quick.”

He blanked for a moment.

In the past, whenever I came to the studio, my hands would always be full of bags.

Sometimes it was a homemade lunch box, and sometimes it was a big bag of fruit, enough to share with all the students.

However, he would always take just one bite of the food I prepared and set it down.

Frowning, he'd say homemade food lacked precise calorie calculations and would ruin his muscle definition. He said a dancer's body was their career, before throwing my food straight into the trash can.

Gradually, I stopped embarrassing myself.

“The competition is coming up, and you wouldn't want to affect your physique by eating, right?

“If you ate my food and gained even half a pound, affecting the competition results, I wouldn't be able to take the blame.”

Sean let out a couple of dry laughs, cornered by my words.

“Then wait for me a bit? Once I finish this class, how about we grab a bite to eat? The sushi place downstairs is pretty good.”

It was a rare moment for him to swallow his pride to make peace.

“No, thanks.

“I have some things to take care of, so I'll leave first.”

After saying that, I didn't look back at his stunned expression. I walked straight to the locker room, took out that exquisite pair of dance shoes, turned around, and left.

Not long after I walked out, my phone kept vibrating nonstop. I picked it up and found it full of texts from Sean.

[Babe, there's really nothing going on between Madison and me. Don't misunderstand.

[I'm sending you my training schedule, and you can check on me anytime. Don't be mad, okay?]

Attached below was a tightly packed schedule.

There was a time when I tried everything to find out his schedule just to see him more. But he always found me annoying, saying I was controlling him too much and not giving him any personal space.

Now, he was voluntarily handing me the leash.

Unfortunately, I no longer wanted to be the person holding the leash.

I put my phone on silent and went home to take a nap.

After an unknown amount of time, the door pushed open.

Sean stood at the doorway, his eyes watery as he looked at me, looking just like a dog drenched in heavy rain.

“Ellie, why didn't you reply to my messages?”

“Call a doctor and schedule a hymenoplasty immediately. Mr. Smith doesn't need to find out about a minor setback like this.”After delivering the order, he turned toward the officers, his attitude shifting into something far more cooperative.“Officers, this whole thing was just a big misunderstanding. Our kid was just throwing a childish tantrum and acting out. We’re dropping the charges right now.”Dropping the charges, of course, was only to make sure nothing got in the way of her marriage.A wave of chill washed over me.So it turned out that all of Madison’s blatant provocations, all those frantic confessions she wanted the entire world to know about…None of it was because she actually loved Sean.Instead, she was simply using him as a lifeline to escape her family's arranged marriage. She just wanted to find someone to destroy her value as a commodity, to break free from a fate where she was stamped with a price tag. And for that, she hadn't hesitated to wreck my relati

Mr. Grant kicked the interrogation room door wide open, storming right up to Sean and screamed, “You pathetic excuse for a dance teacher! Who gave you the balls to touch my daughter?!”“Dad!”Madison rushed in right behind him, panic and anticipation written all over her face.“Sir, I didn’t do it…” Sean stammered, his face deathly pale as he tried to defend himself.“Shut the hell up!” Mr. Grant roared, not giving him a single second to speak, his voice completely dripping with rage. “We sent her to your studio to learn some skills so she could better serve Mr. Smith, not for a bottom-feeding cockroach like you to try and climb the social ladder!“How is she supposed to marry Mr. Smith now?! Can you even afford to pay for this?!”As he yelled, Mr. Grant raised a fist, ready to smash it straight into Sean’s face.“Sir! Please calm down! This is a police station!”Two officers reacted instantly, rushing forward and holding him back with a tight grip.“Mr. Grant, I’m afraid th

Late into the night, I received a phone call from an unknown number.“Hello, is this Ms. Ellie Warren? This is the Westside Police Department.”“We have a Mr. Sean Olson in custody, and he is requesting that you come down to post bail for him.”Bail? What on earth did he do?“Officer, I’m sorry, but I think you have the wrong person. Sean and I aren't related.”“But he claims you are his fiancée…”“Not anymore.”The officer’s voice turned incredibly serious and cold over the line. “Well, Mr. Olson has been detained under suspicion of sexual assault, and he has repeatedly begged for you to come down here.”Sexual assault? How could a word like that ever be tied to Sean?Even though I had already resolved to completely cut ties with him, hearing this news still left me stunned for a good while. After hesitating over and over, I ended up calling an Uber and heading down to the station anyway. The moment I arrived, I saw Madison curled up on a bench. She was wearing an oversize

“I’m telling you right now, Ellie is the only woman I will ever love.“Even if she doesn't want me anymore, I will still only love her.”He sounded completely earnest. Every bit of color drained from Madison’s face.“Are you two finished with your little drama scene? Because if you are, I have to go to work.”Turning toward the curb, I hailed a passing taxi and climbed straight into the backseat without looking back.“Ellie! Don't go!”Sean tried to chase after the car, but Madison held him back with all her might.“Sean! Wake up! She doesn't love you anymore!“Why won't you just turn around and look at me? I’m clearly the one who loves you the most…”Well said. But I couldn't even be bothered to look back.…By the time Sean finally managed to shake Madison off, Ellie was already long gone. He wandered the streets for hours like a literal ghost.Suddenly, his phone started ringing.Seeing Madison's name on the screen, his first instinct was to reject the call, but a te

Dad snatched the baseball bat sitting right by the door and swung it toward Sean without hesitation.“Can't understand plain English, can you? Do I really need to throw you out myself?”Sean didn't even dare to dodge, taking the hits straight to his body. He stood there miserably in the hallway until our front door slammed shut right in his face.It was as if all his remaining hope had been completely locked out, but Sean didn't give up.The very next morning, I went downstairs to take out the trash before heading to work and saw him standing there holding a container and a bottle. He had dark circles under his eyes, clearly having gone the entire night without sleep.“Ellie, I brought your favorite, freshly made almond milk and sourdough toast.”The moment he saw me, he immediately rushed over, offering the breakfast to me as if presenting a prized treasure.“You used to wake up early to make this for me, so now it's my turn to make it for you. I tried it a bunch of times,

Sean’s face instantly flushed bright red, and he awkwardly held the box of chocolates.“Sir, it's me, Sean.”“I… I came to apologize to you and Mrs. Warren. These are some artisanal chocolates I promised Ellie, and these flowers are for her.”Dad let out a cold sneer.“Well, Coach Olson. Don't you have practice with that Madison girl today? No extra training sessions? You aren't worried about ruining your reputation anymore?”“Sir, I'm so sorry. I was incredibly immature before…” Sean kept his head down, his voice completely raspy. “I know I was wrong. I really do. Ellie, please come back home with me, okay? Without you, I really can't function.”I just leaned against the doorframe, watching his pathetic, submissive display. If this had been the old me, seeing him stand out in the rain for my sake and getting cornered by Dad like this would have broken my heart. I would have stepped in and defended him instantly. But now? I only found the bouquet in his arms an eyesore.“Do
