MATILDA'S POV

I woke up the next morning to the sound of my alarm.

I reached for my phone and turned it off.

For a few seconds, I stayed in bed, staring at the ceiling.

Then I remembered that Mom was away.

I sighed and slowly got out of bed.

The house was unusually quiet

I walked into the bathroom, had my bath, brushed my teeth, and got dressed for school.

When I came downstairs, I headed straight to the kitchen.

I decided to make breakfast before leaving.

I made some eggs

  • Healed by My Ex's Brother   CHAPTER 14 :A LITTLE CLOSER

MATILDA'S POV Sunday morning arrived quietly. I woke up later than usual, stretched beneath my blanket, and reached for my phone on the bedside table. For a moment, I stared at the screen, remembering the conversation I'd had with Ryan the night before. I shook my head and smiled to myself. He really was something else. I couldn't believe we'd spent so much time teasing each other over groceries. It wasn't as if we'd discussed anything important, yet somehow, the conversation had been enjoyable. Still, it was just a conversation. I placed my phone down and climbed out of bed. There was no point lying around all morning. Mom was still away, which meant I had to take care of things around the house myself. After making my bed, I opened the curtains and let the morning sunlight fill the room. I took a quick shower, changed into comfortable clothes, and headed downstairs. The house was quiet, but it no longer felt quite as lonely as it had when Mom first left.

  • Healed by My Ex's Brother   CHAPTER 13 AN AFTERNOON WITH YOU

CHAPTER 13 MATILDA'S POV Saturday morning was unusually peaceful. For once, I didn't have to rush anywhere or worry about an upcoming lecture. I spent most of the morning relaxing at home, watching television and scrolling through my phone. By the afternoon, I realised there was hardly anything left in the fridge. I sighed and stood up. I needed groceries. After changing into a simple top, jeans, and sneakers, I picked up my bag and checked that I had my purse before heading out. The supermarket wasn't too far from the house, so I decided to go myself. When I arrived, I picked up a basket and began moving through the aisles, checking the items I needed. Milk. Bread. Eggs. Noodles. I paused in front of a shelf, trying to decide which cereal to buy. "Are you planning to stand there all day?" I froze. I knew that voice. Slowly, I turned around. Ryan stood behind me, one hand in his pocket and the other holding a shopping basket. I stared at him in surpri

  • Healed by My Ex's Brother   CHAPTER 12: AND EVENING OF Quiet Thoughts

MATILDA’S POV By the time I got home, it was already five in the evening. I dropped my bag on the couch and let out a long sigh. My day had been exhausting, and all I wanted was to take a bath and sleep. I went upstairs, changed out of my clothes, and headed straight to the bathroom. The warm water felt good against my skin, washing away the tiredness of the day. After bathing, I changed into a comfortable pair of shorts and an oversized T-shirt. I barely made it to my bed before sleep took over. When I finally woke up, the room was darker, and the first thing I did was reach for my phone. I checked the time and groaned. I'd slept for hours. Then I remembered my mother. I opened our chat and sent her a message. Me: Good evening, Mom. How was your day? Her reply came a few minutes later. Mom: Good evening, my baby. My day was fine. How was yours? Have you eaten? I smiled. That was always her first concern. Me: My day was okay. I just got home and slept

  • Healed by My Ex's Brother   CHAPTER 11:

CHAPTER 11 A PUBLIC SCENE MATILDA’S POV By the time our lecture ended, I was completely exhausted. My head still hurt a little from the previous night's party, and my body felt heavier than usual. I regretted drinking so much. If I had known I would feel this terrible the next day, I wouldn't have touched a single glass. Anna walked beside me as we left the lecture hall. “I'm starving,” I complained, rubbing my stomach. Anna laughed. “You and hunger. It's like you haven't eaten in days.” “Because I haven't eaten since breakfast. And that breakfast was barely enough.” “Okay, okay. Let's go to the canteen before you start fainting.” I rolled my eyes, and we headed toward the school canteen. Thankfully, it wasn't too crowded when we arrived. We bought something to eat and found an empty table near the corner. I dropped into the chair with a tired sigh. “I'm never drinking again,” I announced. Anna burst out laughing. “You said that this morning.” “And I meant

  • Healed by My Ex's Brother   CHAPTER 10: A Name Without an Answer

MATILDA’S POV I woke up with a terrible headache. I groaned and slowly opened my eyes, staring at the ceiling. For a few seconds, I had no idea where I was. Then everything came back—or at least, the little I could remember. The party. The music. Anna. The drinks. I frowned and sat up slowly, immediately regretting it when my head started pounding harder. “Ugh…” I pressed my fingers against my temple. What happened last night? I tried to remember. The last thing I could clearly remember was talking to a guy at the party. After that… Nothing. I looked around my room. How did I even get home? I was sure Anna had brought me back. At least, I thought she did. I reached for my phone and checked the time. My eyes widened. “It’s late.” Thankfully, my first class wasn't until the afternoon. I sighed in relief and dropped my phone back onto the bed. I needed water. Or maybe coffee. Something to help with this headache. I slowly got out

  • Healed by My Ex's Brother   CHAPTER 9: A Name in Her Sleep

MATILDA’S POV The next morning, I woke up feeling much better. I stayed in bed for a few seconds, waiting for the familiar pain to return, but it didn't. I smiled to myself. Finally. After missing school for a day, I was ready to get back to my normal routine. I took a shower, got dressed, grabbed my bag, and headed downstairs. By the time I arrived at school, the place was already busy. I walked toward the building, adjusting my bag on my shoulder. Then I heard my name. “Matty!” I turned around. Anna was walking toward me with a huge smile on her face. “You're finally alive!” I laughed. “Very funny.” She hugged me before looking at my face. “Are you feeling better?” “Much better.” “Good. Because I have plans for you tonight.” I narrowed my eyes. “What kind of plans?” Anna's smile widened. “There’s a party tonight.” I immediately shook my head. “Anna, no.” “Yes.” “I just got back to school.” “And that's exactly why you need to co
