Throughout the journey to the temple, I didn’t utter a word. Aristo tried to crack silly jokes from beside me but I didn’t reply him. I wasn’t in the mood to pretend to be happy. Understanding Cahir’s decision didn’t mean I had to be happy about it, neither did it mean I couldn’t be angry that my mate went behind my back to make plans for me and then spring it on me last minute.

“You can rest on my shoulder if you feel sleepy,” Aristo said in the car's silence. I was sandwiched between him and a guard so when he spoke, I knew the words were directed at me but I said nothing. “Sia.” He tapped my knee. I turned to him with a glare and he raised his hands in surrender.

The silence stretched after that so I ended up falling asleep. In my dream, there was a pup chasing me about despite my tiredness. It was a dream I had frequently before I got the priestess’ necklace. From the dream, I could feel myself getting warm as I got increasingly tired.
