Chapter 52

Wyatt

I was sitting with Beau on the front porch of the boy's house watching Bri surrounded by the boys who were attempting to show her how to fish. Their dock ran long across the front of the stilted house before jutting out into the water at the end. I was sipping sweet tea Bri had rustled up this morning letting it steep in the late morning sun in a glass pitcher on the porch.

I watched her line go tight and heard her squeal of delight. She did a little happy dance that warmed my heart as well as caused it to ache. The boys helped her pull up the fish in a scoop net. She dropped it the first time she tried to pick it up and they all laughed as she struggled chasing it across the dock as it flopped around. She held it high with two hands for us to see. Beau and I clapped and whooped for her as the boys took it to add to the fray they had already caught.
