The first thing Selene noticed when she woke was pain.

Her arms ached, her legs felt heavy, and every bruise screamed in protest the moment she tried to move. She lay there for a while, staring at the wooden beams above her bed, almost convincing herself to stay still. But she knew better. In this place, if she didn’t rise, someone would drag her out and she’d never hear the end of it.

With a sharp breath, she pushed herself upright. Her muscles burned, and her ribs throbbed where she’d taken a hit the day before. Still, she swung her legs over the edge of the bed, forcing herself to stand.

That’s when it happened.

A voice.

Soft. Distant. Almost like a whisper carried on the wind.

Hi.

Selene froze. Her head snapped around the room. Empty. Just her and silence. She pressed her hand to her temple. Maybe she hadn’t slept enough. Maybe her brain was playing tricks on her.

But then it came again.

I never left.

Her chest tightened. It wasn’t loud, it wasn’t clear, but it was real. Strang

Selene is slowly starting to hear her wolf, and the sparks between her and Damien are getting harder to ignore 👀🔥. But remember she’s still only 18. The real storm begins when she turns 20 and the bond fully awakens. Until then, every step she takes is shaping into the queen she’s meant to become. What do you think of Selene’s wolf voice finally speaking up? Should I let her wolf get bolder with each chapter, or keep it soft and mysterious for now?

The pack hall hummed with low voices, the scent of iron and fur thick in the air. Wolves sat in clusters, some sharpening claws, others exchanging updates about patrols or recent rogue sightings. Veyra stood near the far wall, arms crossed, observing quietly. Every glance, every subtle shift of posture registered with her; the room was a chessboard, and each wolf a piece to be measured.Damien leaned against the edge of the central table, fingers tracing the carved wooden map of the pack territory. His jaw was tight, amber eyes scanning the gathered wolves. Korven stood nearby, arms folded, expression unreadable but alert.Selene entered from the side, the floorboards barely creaking under her steps. She moved with that innate authority the pack had learned to respect, but tonight there was an edge sharp, precise, impossible to ignore. Her gaze immediately found Damien’s, and the tension between them was palpable, like two storms brushing against each other.

The morning sun spilled across the training grounds, catching the frost on the grass and the taut muscles of the pack. Wolves moved through coordinated drills, practicing stances, attacks, and defensive maneuvers. The air was tense but disciplined, each movement sharp and deliberate. Every snap of a branch, every scraping footfall, felt magnified in the crisp air.Veyra walked among them, observing quietly. She didn’t rush to intervene, only adjusting stances, correcting angles, or giving brief, soft-spoken advice when necessary. Her calm efficiency drew the younger wolves closer, their respect growing naturally. Each small nod, each careful correction, reinforced her place not by authority, but by competence.Selene watched from a distance, arms crossed, senses keyed on every subtle shift in the pack’s energy. She noted the almost imperceptible tilt of the younger wolves toward Veyra, the way their confidence seemed to rise when she was nearby. A warning flickered in

Morning came with the scent of frost and damp earth. Wolves patrolled, trained, and prepared for the day ahead. Yet even with the activity, the tension from the night before lingered like a low hum beneath everything.Damien found Selene leaning against a tree at the edge of the clearing, eyes on the younger wolves practicing maneuvers. “What are you thinking about?” he asked quietly.Selene didn’t turn immediately. “You,” she said finally. “And her.” Her gaze shifted to the far edge of the clearing, where Veyra was assisting a young wolf in correcting his stance. “I don’t like how quickly you’re trusting her.”Damien crossed his arms. “I’m not blind. I saw what she did yesterday. She protected the boy. Took the hit we all expected someone else to take. That matters, Selene.”Selene’s wolf shifted beneath her skin, tense. “And it could matter because she wants us to see it. Every move is calculated. That girl doesn’t stumble, doesn’t react like normal wolves. And yet, you want to take

Night settled over the pack like a heavy blanket, cool and still. Most wolves were winding down, but the tension from the day kept the air tightly wound. Patrol reports were being filed, warriors were checking weapons, and scouts whispered about rogue patterns that didn’t feel random anymore.Selene stepped out onto the balcony of the Alpha residence, arms crossed. The moonlight washed over her, soft and steady, reacting faintly to her presence the way it always did. Her power hummed under her skin, sharper when she was unsettled. And tonight, she was unsettled. Not because of Veyra’s actions.Because of Damien’s reaction to them.A soft knock sounded behind her. “Selene,” Damien said quietly. She didn’t turn. “You’re checking on her again?”He sighed. “I checked on everyone. She just happened to be one of them.”Selene finally looked over her shoulder. &l

The day moved on, but the patrol incident lingered like a quiet hum through the pack grounds. Whispers followed Veyra as she walked some curious, some wary, some slowly tipping into something like respect. Saving one of their own spoke louder than any excuse she had given before. But not everyone was ready to soften.Later that afternoon, Damien called Korven to his office. Papers were scattered across his desk border maps, reports of rogue movement, and a few notes from the scouts he trusted most.Korven entered without hesitation. “You wanted to see me.”Damien leaned back slightly. “You worked closely with her today. Tell me honestly did anything feel off?”Korven didn’t answer immediately. He dropped into the seat opposite him, thinking carefully. “Nothing that raised alarms. She followed orders. She stayed in formation. And she reacted faster than half the men when things went wrong.” He paused. &ldquo

The air was crisp that morning, the kind of sharp cold that made every sound clearer. Wolves moved across the training grounds, shifting into their routines, but tension still clung to the atmosphere. Veyra stood near the edge, hands clasped behind her back, waiting. Her posture was calm, respectful, almost soldier-like. She didn’t speak unless spoken to, and she didn’t try to force herself into the pack’s rhythm. She simply watched and waited.Damien approached with Korven beside him. “Today’s patrol is different,” Damien said, voice firm. “Rogues have been testing our western border. We need steady hands and sharp eyes.”Korven nodded once. “We’ll be careful.”Damien turned to Veyra. “You’re joining this patrol.”A few nearby wolves stiffened, exchanging uncertain glances. Selene, who had been observing from a distance, narrowed her eyes slightly but didn’t interrupt. Her wolf growled quietly inside her mind, but Selene held it back.Veyra simply
