Amanda.

I wake up alone, which is never a good sign.

Keith's side of the bed is cold—he's been gone for hours. I find him in his study, surrounded by screens showing surveillance footage, his expression dark.

"How long have you been up?" I ask.

"Since three." He doesn't look away from the screens. "Elena was surveilling the estate last night. She sat outside our gates for forty minutes, just watching."

Ice slides through my veins. "She knows where we live."

"She's known for weeks, probably. This was just a reminder. A message that we're not as protected as we think." He finally looks at me, and I see the exhaustion in his eyes. "I'm increasing security. No one gets within a mile of this property without us knowing."

I cross to him, taking the coffee cup from his hand before he can drink more caffeine he doesn't need. "You need to sleep."

"I need to make sure you're safe."

"I am safe. Dimitri's here, we have a dozen guards, and the estate has more security than most government

Keith. The warehouse Elena brings me to is predictably isolated—dockside, abandoned, no witnesses. She's learned from her father's mistakes, at least. My hands are zip-tied behind my back, my phone confiscated. Elena keeps the gun trained on me as she forces me into a chair and secures my ankles to its legs. Professional, efficient, terrifyingly competent. "Comfortable?" she asks, stepping back to admire her work. "I've been better." I test the restraints—tight but not impossible. Given time and tools I don't have, I might work free. "So what now? You ransom me back to my organization? Torture me for information? Kill me and trigger a war?" "All of the above, eventually." She pulls up another chair, sitting backward on it, arms crossed over the back. "But first, we talk. I want to understand something." "What?" "Why her? Amanda. She's pretty enough, I suppose, but there are thousands of beautiful women in London. Women with breeding, connections, who could actually be assets to

Amanda. The trap is elegant in its simplicity. Sofia creates a false security report suggesting a weakness in the estate's eastern perimeter—a blind spot in the camera coverage, a gap in the patrol schedule. We make sure this information gets leaked to one of Elena's contacts, a low-level operative who thinks he's spying for her but is actually feeding her exactly what we want. Meanwhile, I become the bait. "I don't like this," Keith says for the hundredth time as I prepare for my role. "Using you as the target—" "Is the only thing that makes sense," I finish. "Elena wants to get to me. We're giving her the opportunity, but on our terms, in our controlled environment." The plan is for me to take my usual evening walk through the estate gardens—a routine I've established over the past weeks. Except tonight, I'll conveniently walk near that 'blind spot' in the eastern perimeter. If Elena takes the bait, she'll make her move. And we'll be waiting. "Fifteen operatives positioned a

Keith. Franco Colombo arrives at my estate exactly on time, which tells me he's taking this seriously. I watch from my study window as his convoy pulls up—three cars, minimal security, exactly as we agreed. He's playing by my rules, at least superficially. The question is what he's planning beneath the compliance. Marcus appears at my elbow. "Everyone's in position. Snipers on the roof, close protection team in the house. If he makes a move, we're ready." "And Amanda?" "Locked in the safe room with Dimitri and two guards. She's not happy about it, but she's secure." Good. I made Amanda promise to stay in the safe room during the meeting, no matter what she heard or how long it took. It's a reinforced panic room in the basement, designed to withstand everything short of a military assault. If this goes wrong, she'll survive. I head downstairs to meet Franco. We've set up the meeting in the formal dining room—large enough not to feel cramped, small enough to control. My people li

Keith. Elena Colombo's presence at my club is a calculated provocation. She shouldn't be here—her membership was never activated after the warehouse incident, and her father knows better than to send her into my territory. Yet here she stands, champagne flute in hand, smiling like she owns the place. I feel Amanda tense beside me. "That's her," she murmurs. "The daughter." "Yes." I keep my expression neutral, though my mind is already calculating angles. Elena being here means Franco is making another move. The question is what. "Mr. Greyson." Elena approaches us directly, her smile sharp as a blade. "How lovely to see you at your own establishment. And you must be Amanda. I've heard so much about you." Amanda's posture shifts—chin up, shoulders back. The street kid is gone, replaced by the woman I've been training. "I don't believe we've met." "Elena Colombo." She extends her hand. "My father does business with Mr. Greyson occasionally." "Your father tried to have me killed,"

Amanda. The dinner is tonight, and I'm more nervous than I was before my first mission at the club. I've spent the day with Sofia, who's been surprisingly helpful in preparing me for what to expect. She's not part of the lifestyle herself, but she's attended enough club events to understand the dynamics. "Just remember," she says while helping me choose an outfit, "these people aren't monsters. They're just exploring a different kind of relationship. Some of them are doctors, lawyers, business owners. Normal people with unconventional private lives." "Like Keith," I say, studying my reflection. The dress we selected is elegant but modest—deep blue silk that highlights my eyes without being too revealing. "Keith is anything but normal," Sofia says with a slight smile. "But yes. The point is, don't go in with preconceptions. Ask questions, be honest about your concerns, and trust your instincts." The dinner is being held in one of the club's private dining rooms—neutral territory
