Clara’s POV.

After meeting with Damon, I had convinced him that we needed to take further steps to stop Clarence from going to court and he had agreed to my plans although I didn’t tell him what I had in mind, so I reached out to Stone and he asked we meet at one of the warehouses where he hung out with his gang. Damon drove me there and we stopped right outside the warehouse.

The first time I said it out loud, I almost didn’t recognize my own voice.

“She’s in the way. She always has been and we have to do anything we can to stop her now even if it means silencing her forever.”

Damon sat beside me without replying, his jaw clenched and his arms folded like he was already regretting showing up. I was about to question him when the door opened and Stone joined us in the car.

He sat at the back seat with me dressed in plain black while Damon was in the driver’s seat.

“She won’t back off, Damon,” I said, keeping my voice steady even though I could feel my pulse in my neck.

“I got a whiff

Clarence’s POV.Something about Olivia had started to bother me. It wasn’t just a feeling, it was in the way she moved around the office, always glancing over her shoulder. The way she jumped whenever her phone rang, or how she would walk out mid-conversation to take a call in hushed tones. I knew her well enough to recognize when she was hiding something, and lately, it seemed like she was always hiding something.I tried to brush it off at first. We’d all been under pressure lately, especially with the company shifting back into my hands. Maybe it was just stress. But then I caught her in my office when I came in earlier than usual. She looked startled like she hadn’t expected me. She said she was looking for a file, but when I asked which one, she stammered. Then she pointed to a stack of papers on my desk, saying she thought it was part of the financial reports. That didn’t make any sense—those files weren’t hers to take care of, and she had no reason to be in my office without

Julian’s POV.It had been a long week between managing the company and making sure Clarence stayed safe, I had barely had a moment to breathe. My phone never stopped ringing, my inbox was drowning in unread messages, and my sleep had been reduced to short bursts of rest interrupted by nightmares. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw her—lying in that hospital bed, pale and motionless. And now that she was awake, now that she was back on her feet, a different kind of worry gnawed at me.I didn’t know how to let my guard down anymore. And I knew she didn’t either. But tonight, I needed a break from the chaos, the fear, the weight of everything pressing down on us. And I could tell Clarence needed one too.Her eyes were tired in a way that sleep couldn’t fix. So I made a choice. I told my assistant to clear my schedule. I turned off my phone and I drove us out to the beach. It wasn’t far from the city. It was a quiet stretch of sand I used to visit when I needed to think. *When we got t

Kristina’s POV.I had never felt rage crawl through my skin the way it did when I saw the news. Julian didn’t even hide it. He didn’t care how public it was.He just stood in that damn conference room and told everyone he was with her. With Clarence. Like she was some prize he had been waiting to claim. And Clarence—she just stood beside him, acting like she belonged there. Like she had barely escaped death just days ago.I threw my phone away, unable to bear watching the video. How could Olivia allow this to happen? How could she do this and not stop it?I wanted to scream and throw things. Olivia had one job. One very simple job. Clarence should’ve never made it out of that hospital alive. She was weak, wounded, and helpless. But Olivia had failed, and now I had to watch the man I loved parade around with a woman who should’ve been gone for good.I paced my room, my jaw tight as I replayed everything. I couldn’t just sit here. I wouldn’t let them win. Not when I was so close. I gra

Julian’s POV.The moment my phone rang and I saw the hospital’s name flash across the screen, I felt my heart stop. I had been glancing at my phone more than usual all morning, waiting for any update—hoping and praying. I picked up immediately, barely managing a steady voice.“She has regained consciousness,” the nurse said. “Ms Clarence is awake.”I didn’t even hang up properly before grabbing my jacket. I told my assistant to cancel the rest of my meetings and practically ran out of the office. My thoughts were all over the place on the way there. Relief, disbelief, and excitement. I didn’t know what I had walked into. I just needed to see her, talk to her, and hold her hand. When I stepped into her hospital room and saw her sitting up, blinking slowly as she tried to take in her surroundings, something inside me just gave way.I wasn’t someone who cried easily, but that moment tested me. I walked to her and gently wrapped my arms around her, not saying a word at first. Just holdin

Julian’s POV.It had been three days since I learned the truth about Clara, what she’d done, and what she was still capable of doing. Three very long, exhausting days filled with restlessness, unanswered questions, and the kind of anger that simmers just under the surface. Clarence hadn’t woken up yet, but the doctor insisted she was improving. Still, every time I walked into that sterile hospital room and saw her lying there, unmoving and pale, it felt like a punch to the chest. She looked so peaceful, but that peace was a lie. It wasn’t real. Not when there was still a predator out there. Not when Clara was walking free. The hospital had good security. I made sure of it. But I knew better than anyone how easily good could fall short when you were dealing with someone like Clara. She was careful, methodical, and ruthless. The investigator’s voice replayed in my head more often than I’d like to admit—Clara is very careful and doesn't leave any evidence behind.”I couldn’t relax. I b

Clara’s POV.The room smelled of expensive perfume, fresh flowers, and the light musk of arrogance that always lingered in spaces filled with women who didn’t know what it meant to want anything. The wives of wealthy men’s clubs were nothing more than a circle of thinly veiled competition who wore the most recent designer, who got the rarest gemstone, and whose husband bought what for her birthday.I sat among them, pretending to care about the newest spa opening in the city. Someone was going on and on about how they flew in a chef from Paris to prepare her dog’s meals. I sipped my tea, uninterested and bored, just waiting for an excuse to leave. Then my phone rang.It was Stone.Finally. He had reached out after a day of waiting for an update from him while monitoring the news if there would be any report on what had happened. I excused myself from the table and stepped away, answering the call.“They failed,” he said flatly.I froze. “What?”“The men I sent to take care of Claren
