Chapter 4: Lust

I walked towards the head of the table where he was seated and took the chair next to him while his gaze stayed on me all the while, I pulled out the chair and sat down, I was in nothing but his shirt and I was aware of how it drifted higher as I sat. His gaze stayed on my thighs a little bit longer before he pushed his plate away.

"What are you doing?" He asked stiffly.

"Eating?" I maintained the pretence of calm while my heart beat wildly, 

"Since when?" Anne scoffed down the table and I turned my gaze to her, she dropped her fork and clammed her mouth shut, pressing her lips together tightly.

I dragged the nearest plate to me and served myself a good spoon of mashed potatoes, toastes and scrambled eggs. I realized that Connor was watching me very still and unmoving.

"Get out" He said, not a hint of emotion in his voice, my hand stilled. But I haven't even started eating!

Everyone waited, expecting me to get out like he said, okay? But I'm taking my food. I'm not fucking starving or living off scraps ever again. 

I stood up with my plate but Connor wasn't done.

"Not you, the rest of you. Out" He said with irritation in his voice this time, I popped back on my seat and started stuffing myself with food while the rest of them rushed out. The room was empty under a minute and I was painfully aware that my husband was glaring at me but it was either tears or the food and I chose the latter. 

"Have you lost your mind?" There was something in his voice that I couldn't detect but I ignored him and continued eating, it's been so long since I enjoyed a proper meal and I wouldn't be denied again. 

"What game are you playing? Causing a drama, lying to my guards, disobeying strict orders and invading my bed, closet and table?" He listed my offenses but I already knew it was only a matter of time before he found out I helped the girls, I mean it wasn't really maths, the guards saw me.

"Game? I'm simply sleeping and eating better now, I guess I realized life is short and if you're going to hate me till the end, I better live my life properly before it runs out" I replied with a stuffed mouth. 

Trying to come up with my next answer, I didn't realize when he got to me.

"What-" He flung my half empty plate across the room and I had my bare butt right where my food was seconds ago, he grabbed me by the hair and yanked my head back. Everything happened so fast that it took me a second to realize he was pressed between my thighs and his hand pinned both of my hands behind my back. 

Pain and something else shot down my shoulder joint.

"What are you doing?" I tried to wiggle my body out of his hold but my nipples grazed his chest and my breath caught in my throat, I gasped hard. 

We had never been this close and hot embers flared inside my stomach.

His gaze darkened and he stared at me like wanted to tear me into pieces, I could have sworn his eyes were grey but they were deeper than that and I couldn't figure out what color they were.

"What are you doing in my shirt?" He dragged me closer to the edge of the table and his body dug into mine even more. I was very aware of him and the fact that the shirt had completely left my butt open.

"I don't have any clothes and I couldn't walk naked to eat, that wouldn't fit a queen" I almost moaned my answer, I didn't understand what was happening, my body was betraying me and it didn't help that my breasts were flat against his chest and I could feel his breath on my cheek. 

"You had clothes yesterday" His voice was low and dark, my stomach did a tumble. I hate this man, I shouldn't react this way to him at all but talking about my clothes helped and it reminded me who made me wear rags, I didn't try to wiggle my way out again to avoid what happened earlier.

"They're rags, I'm thinking of loaning them out to your sister, I mean half sister since you don't really have any real family" I tried the insult approach and it seemed to work because his face darkened and he released me. I almost regretted it immediately because his body warmth left with him.

'don't be ridiculous' I warned myself mentally as I struggled to get off the table and make myself as decent as I could. 

"Your majesty, they're ready for you" A guard saved me from the punishment or whatever Connor was going to do next but apparently it seemed to be important and he left without giving me another look.

I wandered around the garden area of the palace barefoot, I might have been in the palace for years but I have never been in the garden amongst other places, Connor seemed to be battling with something and had left me for the meantime, so I had time to plan and scheme in secret. 

The air smelled so sweet and it made me angry all over again, he didn't just make me less than a slave, he took my freedom and my will with it. You better watch your back Connor, I'm coming for you. Once I make him regret in the worst ways possible, I'd kill him and run away from here.

Author's Pov 

Connor watched her from the planning room, everyone had left except for him, he couldn't ignore the sensations that took over his body this morning, his plan was to break her arm to teach her a lesson but things got hot and out of hand. She was rebelling, defiling his orders and invading his life, he needs to give her a punishment that would totally break her spirit soon.

He moved to the window to clear his mind and think, but he almost couldn't believe his eyes, she sat on the swing, rocking back and forth and swinging her bare feet in the air. Thankfully talks of war had cooled his body down earlier but he couldn't ignore his dick tightening at the sight of her bare legs, the first time he saw her, he had known how stunning she was and even behind the shabby clothes and matted hair, her beauty was still one of a kind but he wasn't expecting the storm that hit him while staring at her from a distance. His body wanted her and he would deny it fiercely but damn! 

He let out a curse beneath his breath and made his way down to the garden.
