Manolya’s POV

I had developed a habit of taking my father’s car.

He never said no anymore.

He never asked where I was going.

He just watched me take the keys and accepted it in silence, like that was the price of still having me around.

Pelin noticed the way my jaw tightened as I unlocked the doors.

“He didn’t say anything again, did he?” she asked gently.

I shook my head and slid into the passenger seat. “No. He never does. It’s like he’s afraid that if he opens his mouth, I’ll disapp

Manolya’s POV The dust from Aries hadn’t even settled before the world shifted again. The Artemis demon transformed the arena, the shifting marble of the amphitheater groaning as it morphed into a vast, rugged terrain. Colossal rocks erupted from the center stage, scattering across the ground. The fog seeped in once more, thick and suffocating, enveloping us in an oppressive silence that swallowed the rows of ghostly spectators. Artemis descended from mid air to the center of the arena. She reached behind her back and drew out her bow, its surface carved with ancient symbols. She pulled the string back, and an arrow of glowing white energy formed between her fingers, solidifying as she aimed. She released it. The arrow landed perfectly in the center, next to a towering figure emerging from the mist as it slowly dissipated. “Little flames,” Artemis said and laughed coldly, like icy bells caught in frost. “Meet my wrath. Taurus the Bull!” she said in a delighted tone. “Isn’t he s

I reached for my sword again, my hand trembling slightly as I pulled it from its sheath. It wasn’t the comforting warmth I expected. The blade felt unnaturally cold, as though a chill had seeped into my bones. My heart raced as the blade pulsed with a ferocious red light, the glow flashing like fire on my skin. The coldness wrapped around me, filled me up, and I let it. Let it consume me. I gripped the hilt tightly, determined to protect Pelin at all costs. With my breath coming fast, I held the blade in front of me, infusing it with Mastery of Ice. The icy energy filled my veins, and with a sweep of my sword, shards of ice shot toward Aries. I could feel the power of the spell, the cold biting through the air, the icy shards cutting through the dust and smoke. They hit Aries with a sharp, solid force, catching him off guard as the cold pressed against his fiery aura. The ram stumbled, slowing, the frost spreading across his body like a creeping winter storm.

Manolya’s POV The fog that damned demon had summoned into the arena didn’t just roll in; it was suffocating. It was thick, cloying, and smelled of ozone and damp earth. I could barely see my own hand in front of my face, let alone Pelin. “Pelin! Stay close!” I shouted, my voice sounding thin against the heavy silence of the arena. “I’m here, Manolya! Right behind you!” Then, the ground began to thrum. A rhythmic, heavy thudding that grew louder with every heartbeat. Out of the white haze, a nightmare took shape. It was massive, a hulking wall of muscle and bronzed armour. The creature stood on two thick, furred legs, but its head was that of a monstrous ram. Its horns weren’t just bone; they were jagged, spiraling obsidian that seemed to drink the light. “Is that… Aries?” Pelin gasped, her voice trembling. The demon goddess laughed from her high throne floating mid air above the stone arena, the sound echoing like breaking glass. “The Ram charges fiercely, litt

  • Hellblades   107 - The Cult Of Artemis

Manolya’s POV A gleaming, unnatural white light poured from the statue’s eyes. The moment it touched the walls, the entire temple lit up and shadows flickered. A deep female voice echoed through the hall, layered and distorted. The statue was not a statue. It was a prison. And something had been trapped inside for a very long time. “I am the keeper of the Artemis Cult,” the voice boomed, rolling across the marble like thunder. “I have been waiting for warriors like you.” The eyes locked onto us, burning white, and my blood ran cold. Pelin sucked in a sharp breath beside me. “Manolya,” she whispered. “That thing is looking at us.” I didn’t answer. My body moved before my mind caught up. I lunged forward, with my hellblade raised, aiming straight for the statue’s chest. The blade passed through it. No resistance. No impact. Just a sickening drag through thick air, like slicing smoke soaked in magic. The force nearly pulled me off balance. “What?” I gasped, stumbling bac

Manolya’s POV We stopped at the foot of the stairs. The first eight pillars at the entrance, four on each side, were adorned with sculptures at their bases. Humans and warriors carved into the stone, their strained bodies bent beneath the weight of the columns as if they were holding the temple up with their bare hands. Pelin didn’t move. I could hear her breathing beside me, shallow and uneven. “Okay,” she said finally, though her voice betrayed her. “You go first.” I glanced at her. “Why me?” She shot me a look. “Because if something jumps out, I want you to get the honor of slicing it first!” Despite everything, a weak laugh escaped me. “Wow okay, what’s up with you, you used to be less scared?” “I’m serious, Manolya,” she whispered, her eyes darting toward the shadows between the pillars. “What if there are monsters here? From the obsidian dimension? I think I’m having flashbacks from Derinkuyu the underground city, I can’t help but feeling scared ” I tightened my grip

  • Hellblades   105 - The Temple of Artemis

Manolya’s POV A piece of me was missing, and I had no idea how to fill that void. Could this journey offer me some semblance of peace? I hoped so, even if I wasn’t entirely convinced. I still couldn’t process the feelings I had towards my father. It felt as though I was grieving the loss of both parents instead of just one. He was alive, breathing, moving through the house, yet something about him felt… dead to me in a way I couldn’t quite explain. I pushed my toughts aside for now. Slowly, the ruins of Ephesus began to loom closer. After a while, Pelin shifted in her seat. “Okay,” she sighed, flexing her fingers. “My legs are starting to feel like stone. Can we switch?” “Of course,” I said, pulling over. We switched places, and I drove the last stretch until we reached the parking lot. I turned off the engine and sat there for a moment, hands resting on the steering wheel. I took a deep breath and slipped the keys into my pocket while Pelin grabbed the coole
