“Miss Lavender, Sir Nikon wants to see you in his office.”

I had just returned to my room after my mother left. I couldn’t finish my breakfast either. I gave the maid a nod and headed straight to Nikon’s office. He wasn’t there, though. I sat down, waiting for him.

When he finally entered, he walked around my chair to get to his side of the desk, and his hand accidentally brushed against my hair. I swear, my entire skin was covered in goosebumps. It wasn’t intentional, and I had never had any thoughts like that about him before. So my body’s reaction really puzzled me.

He sat down and casually ended the call he was on before turning his attention to me.

“You want to find your father?” he asked, his tone all business.

“I do, but I don’t want to upset my mother. It’s not going to be a reunion. I just don’t understand why he hasn’t been punished yet,” I almost asked him, and he nodded.
