Igor:

“Thank you,” I said to the agent. I had closed the deal. I was so happy to finally be done with that trip and go back home. But the truth was, I wasn’t even sure what I was going back to. Lavender had been ignoring me. I called and asked Easton, and he told me she had been ignoring him as well.

The only way for me to get information on Lavender was through Nikon. And every time I asked him about her, he said she was fine, just busy with her studies, and that I should focus on my own work. I had been waiting to go back home and ask her what had upset her.

Part of me convinced myself that maybe it was her family’s arrival, maybe she wasn’t using her phone as much because of them. They would always go snooping around her stuff. So she must’ve been afraid of getting caught and stopped responding to us.

But it didn’t make sense.

She could always respond, or at least text us when she was in her room or on campus.

Lavender:“You think I was playing you both? Don’t you think I would have told you already? It’s not like I was acting like I wasn’t being shared. So why would I have hidden Nikon from you two?” I began to yap, trying to prove my innocence. But whatever I said would fall onto deaf ears anyway. Because actions speak louder than words. And sadly, for them, I had acted in a way that screamed I had betrayed them.Even when I didn’t.“How would I know? I just found out about your betrayal. How could you have played us like that? Did you secretly hate us for our previous mistakes and decide to take revenge like this?” he hissed, reaching me and slamming his fist into the wall behind me, while my back was now pressed hard against it.I hesitantly looked away, swallowing my own tears. But it’s not like they were the only ones with complaints.“And as if you believed me when I was being accused of seducing and attacking someone,” I grunted, tears forming in my eyes.He narrowed his eyes as he

Lavender:I instantly looked straight again. Tears started to form in my eyes, but I blinked rapidly to swallow them.It was so hard to sit in that chair and not leave when Easton was standing right behind me.“And I will expect everyone to behave with her. She will be calling this house her home,” Nikon continued to lie. Of course I wasn’t brought here to lead. He would be behind closed doors making decisions, while others would think it was me.“We’ll need fresh air,” Mr. Volkov got up, holding my mother’s hand to lead her with him. “We’ll be dining outside tonight,” he informed us, gesturing for his two dear stepdaughters to follow him. They did, in tears.I stayed put like I was frozen. After they had left, Nikon fixed his posture more comfortably and then voiced out to his brother, “Why are you standing there?”I took a deep breath and steadily got up so I could leave. I couldn’t answer Easton’s silent gaze while his brother was present with us. As I got up, Nikon stopped me.“I’

Nikon:I watched Lavender leave for her bedroom after I told her to. It was important that she left for now. After she was gone, my father began to pace around angrily. Sumi’s nonstop crying intensified his frustration.I grabbed a chair and dragged it across the carpet, setting it next to the fireplace before pulling in another chair. I sat down, holding my cigar in my hand. I couldn’t smoke when I visited Lavender because she was taking heavy medications, and I was concerned the smoke might affect her health. But now, the beautiful cigar was between my fingers again, and I lit it.Taking a big puff, I stared at it while muttering, “You can sit down. I don’t like people wandering around me unless I ask them to.”My father suddenly stopped and groaned before walking over to sit on the chair with me. I quickly placed my hand on the empty chair and shook my head. He clenched his fists before walking back to the sofa and sharing it with his new family.Lavender’s mother was acting like s

LavenderHim saying that out loud brought sudden silence to the living room. Everyone froze. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get goosebumps too. It was truly shocking to hear myself being called his wife.Normani was the first to break free from the frozen state. She held my mother’s arm and shook it to get her attention. My mother got up and walked toward us. Nikon was practically shielding me behind him.“Is this some kind of joke?” my mother asked in a soft, broken voice.“Of course it is. Don’t you know Nikon? He would never marry anyone but his fiancée,” his father said, clearly convincing himself that Nikon’s announcement was false.“Then I must say, you don’t know me either, Father. I can do anything I want. And I definitely don’t joke about this,” Nikon said firmly.Normani and Sabrina gasped, covering their mouths in shock.“Nikon! That’s not possible. Tell us you’re lying,” his father shouted, his finger pointing at me. “This skunk is only back for punishment. Say it!”The m

Lavender:“Why is she here?” It was Normani who had spotted me when I arrived with Nikon.“Oh, you brought her here to punish her?” she smiled to herself, not even waiting for a response from Nikon.I couldn’t even meet her eyes. The hate they had for me showed clearly when they attacked me last time. It felt as though everyone had been waiting for a moment like this, and the instant it arrived, they unleashed all their pent-up anger on me.Especially my own family. They didn’t even ask for details before throwing hands at me.“You did that right, big brother. We all should give her a piece of our mind,” Normani said briskly, walking beside Nikon as he led me to the living room where the others were waiting.I clenched my jaw, preparing myself to fight back. Now that Normani was following us and Nikon hadn’t said a word, even I was certain this was why he brought me here, he wanted everyone to torture me.But this time, I will scream and expose their secrets to each other. I will not
