Nathan's POV.

The sudden appearance of the Lycan King made me stop breathing for a moment as I quickly turned around in his direction.

Darting my eyes around, I tried to calm my raging nerves, racking my head on how to control the situation at the same time.

I had to come up with something as quick as possible, otherwise, I was going to lose Lunaria and that was the last thing I wanted to happen.

With my hands clasped in front of me, I performed a curt bow to the Lycan King, “Pardon me my lord.” I said before straightening up.

What I had expected was that the frown on the King's face would disappear after my apology but it remained there, stamped neatly on his face.

Parting my lips into a smile, I said, “My lord, it's nothing serious, you shouldn't be concerned.” I smacked my lips but still yet it didn't do the magic.

Once again, I performed a curt bow, “I’m sorry for the misunderstanding, my lord.” I ratted out this time around, hoping this was going to solve the issue.

With my head still bowed, I tried to catch a glimpse of Sarah in the crowd but she was nowhere to be found.

If only she was here with me, I bet this wouldn't have been an issue.

Slowly, I raised my head and almost immediately, the Lycan King brushed past me and then went to meet with Lunaria.

Holding her shoulder with a hand, he raised her chin with the other, “Are you alright?” He asked, eliciting a nod from her.

“Yes father, I am fine.” She replied with a reassuring smile.

“Are you sure about that? You seem tense.” He pressed on, making sweat to break out of my forehead at once as I fiddled with my finger.

With my heart ramming against my chest, the only thing I could imagine was getting on the bad side of the Lycan King.

If that happens, a lot of things are going to go wrong and I doubt if I will be able to bear it all.

With the way Lunaria had acted a while ago, I didn't need anyone to tell me that she disliked me already.

What even hurt the most was she seemed not to have remembered who I was and even found it difficult to recall we had met at the supermarket earlier.

At this point, I was getting suffocated even when I was in an airy room.

“Father, you worry too much about me.” Her voice brought me back to consciousness and immediately, I snapped my head in her direction.

The smile on her lips brought back memories but before I could start dwelling on them, the King broke into my trail of thoughts.

“Are you certain?”

“Yes father.” She nodded, making me sigh in relief.

With the way the Lycan King kept interrogating her, I was expecting her to tell him I was pestering her but she didn't.

Relieved by this, I shot her a knowing smile which she returned at once.

It was at this moment that the King turned around in my direction, pushing his hand forward for a handshake which I received immediately.

“Thank you for coming around.” He said, eliciting a nod from me.

“I wouldn't decline your invitation no matter what the case might be.” I replied with a little chuckle to lighten the tension in the air.

Stepping aside, he held Lunaria’s hand, “She's my daughter.”

Feigning not to have an idea, I parted my lips into a circle shape as I slowly began to nod my head in sync.

“You’ve got a pretty daughter. I had no idea she was your daughter until now.” I ratted out, shifting my attention to Lunaria who had a neutral look on her face.

“Nice meeting you, I’m Alpha Nathan from the Moon Pack.” I said in hopes that she recalled my identity.

“My father has told me a lot about you. It's nice to meet you in person.”

No doubt the people around whom had witnessed our earlier encounter were bound to raise their brows at the turnout of events.

Even me, I was surprised.

Foremost, she didn't mention what had happened between us to her father and now she was acting cool.

Just when I was about to turn around to leave so I could take a long drink of fresh air as I was being suffocated in here, she said with a shrill voice, “Father, we met at the supermarket earlier.” She announced.

“Really? You should have told me earlier…”

“That's not the deal even.” She smacked her lips, her smile, making goosebumps appear on my skin.

With her smile and carefree act, I was supposed to be relieved but that wasn't the case, instead, I was terrified.

What is going on here? — This continued to ring in my head but somehow, I was able to maintain my composure.

“Remember I told you about the incident in the supermarket… he was the one who brought Liam back to me.”

The swift attention the King gave me was enough to make me pass out.

“Thank you so much Alpha Nathan, I owe you a lot.” He said in a sing-song voice, patting my shoulder.

“That was the right thing to do… it's not like I did something out of the ordinary.” I shrugged, returning his smile.

“You shouldn't be saying that.” He chided and with a firm tone he added, “All thanks to you, the party is being held. No Liam… no party.” He cleared my confusion.

Nodding, I flashed a smile as that was the only thing I could do at the moment.

“Will you be alright by yourself?” He asked Lunaria who nodded to his question.

Returning his attention to me, he said, “Once again, thank you for helping out earlier.”

“That's not an issue.”

“I need to treat you like a real guest that you are. Come with me for a drink.” He said with an inviting tone and then began to lead the way.

Before leaving with him, I gave Lunaria a quick look and in turn, she flashed me a reassuring smile.

Author’s POV. Lunaria's hands trembled as Mendy helped her into the wedding attire and packed her hair in a bun. Just as Mendy stepped back to admire her handiwork, a soft knock at the door interrupted the moment. Mendy smiled and moved to answer it, she opened the door to find a young servant holding a small elegant envelope. "For the bride," the servant said, bowing slightly. “Thank you.” Came Mendy’s voice as she closed the door and walked over to Lunaria to hand her the envelope. Lunaria's heart skipped a beat as she took the envelope, her fingers tracing the seal. She recognized the symbol – Nathan's family crest. A gentle smile spread across her face as she opened the envelope and withdrew the letter inside. The poem, written in Nathan's own hand, spoke of his love for Lunaria, of the journey they had shared, and of the promises he made to her. It spoke of the moon goddess's blessing, of the love that had grown between them, and of the future they would build together. T

I started to say, but she cut me off."I would rather not be alive at all than be a slave," she said, her voice firm. And with that, she grabbed a sharp object from the nearest shoulder and pierced herself.I screamed, shocked by her action. Mendy rushed to her side, trying to stop the bleeding."L

They marched onto the throne room to confront me but I stood tall, my voice firm as I addressed Agatha.“Was it Sarah that gave you the Heirloom?” Agatha asked me."No, Sarah did not betray us, Agatha. Anthony found the real heirloom and exchanged it with the fake one."Nathan's face was still twisted in rage when he walked in and saw Agatha interrogating me, but as I waved at him to indicate that I was okay, I could see the tension in his body begin to ease. I turned to him, placing a calming hand on his arm as he came to stand beside me."Nathan, it's okay. The truth is out now."I turned back to Agatha, my eyes narrowing."Since everything is clear now, I will decide the fate of all the offenders." I moved to the throne, my voice ringing out across the room."According to our law, Agatha, you would be killed for your crimes. And Lillian, you would be reduced to a maid."T
