Gabriel wore a black shirt, with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. His hands were in the pockets of his trouser pants, exuding an innate aura of nobility, like a god descending from the heavens.

His cold, handsome face showed no trace of sympathy as he strode over to her. He paused, raised his hand, and Sutton, standing behind him, handed him a document.

Gabriel flung the papers at Fiona's face.

With a rustling sound, several medical reports scattered across her face and flittered down onto the bed.

Fiona shot Gabriel an annoyed glance before picking up the reports and reading them again. It was clear that they read positively. She was pregnant.

"Heh."

For some reason, a wave of unexplainable bitterness surged in her heart, and her eyes reddened. She had been so close to finding the real culprit behind her adoptive parents' car accident, but the private investigator had been brutally beaten, and the hit-and-run driver had been rescued and disappeared without a trace.

Now, she was unexpectedly pregnant and had to terminate the pregnancy. Perhaps, this was her fate. Even if destiny was unfair, she had no choice but to accept it.

"What are you laughing at?" Gabriel's brows furrowed deeply, his face full of displeasure.

Fiona sniffled, hiding her sudden surge of grievance. She smiled as she tossed the reports onto the table and glanced at her watch. "It's 1 pm now. Schedule the surgery. That way, it won't affect my work tonight."

Gabriel's eyes narrowed slightly. He had expected her to ask to keep the baby, but her reaction was completely beyond his expectations. She turned to the doctor who had earlier led Gabriel in and said proactively, "Doctor, let's proceed with the surgery now."

With a deep breath, she stepped into the operating room. At that moment, she felt a sudden urge to become stronger. Only with enough strength could she protect the people she cared about, instead of being trapped in her current situation, surrounded by enemies with no strength to fight back.

Lying on the operating table, it wasn't long before she drifted off into a hazy sleep. She thought she was undergoing surgery, but in reality, she had just taken a nap. Gabriel had never intended for her to lose the baby.

"When she wakes up, make sure to give her the medicine we prepared. You know what to do with the rest," he instructed.

The medicine he referred to was nothing more than some supplements to help sustain the pregnancy.

"Yes, Mr Robinson," the doctor nodded.

Gabriel cast a meaningful glance at Fiona before turning to leave. Behind him, Sutton asked with confusion, "Boss, if you want to keep the baby, why not let Miss Hayes know?"

"A greedy woman like her, if she knew I wanted to keep the baby, would only become more reckless. She shouldn't know," Gabriel replied.

Despite his words, he was also testing Fiona. He wanted to see if she would keep her promise to terminate the pregnancy if she became pregnant.

In the end, he had underestimated her.

"But with pregnancy comes morning sickness; she'll find out sooner or later."

"That's why this period is my observation of her," Gabriel said, pausing in his steps before instructing Sutton, "Tell the club to let her off work at midnight every night."

"Miss Hayes is always working part-time delivering food. If she gets off work so early, won't she just go back to delivering food?" Sutton reminded, considering her signs of a potential miscarriage.

Gabriel's thin lips curled slightly, "Everyone has their fate."

Over half an hour later, Fiona woke up.

She shook her dizzy head, looked at the IV drip hanging beside her, and asked the nurse nearby, "Is the surgery done?"

"The surgery is done. But you need to come in for a week of anti-inflammatory IV drips and a follow-up in a month."

The nurse spoke earnestly to her, then advised her seriously, "You've had a miscarriage. Remember to stay in bed for three days, avoid heavy lifting for half a month, and absolutely no smoking or drinking. Otherwise, you might end up with postpartum complications and could never get pregnant again."

The anti-inflammatory IV the nurse mentioned was just an excuse to get her to come in for the prescribed medication to stabilize her pregnancy.

"That serious? Okay, I'll be careful."

Fiona nodded vigorously. She was still so young and couldn't afford to lose her ability to have children. Otherwise, she feared she might never get married.

After she calmed down, she placed her hand on her stomach, feeling a wave of sadness wash over her.

This was her first child, and now it was just... gone.

Once the IV drip was finished, she stood up and moved around a bit, but to her surprise, she felt completely fine, as if nothing had happened.

"Nurse, why don't I feel anything after the surgery?" she asked, puzzled.

The nurse's eyes flickered slightly, and she gave a sheepish smile. "A miscarriage procedure is a minor surgery. It may not hurt much, but you still need to rest." As she spoke, she handed a bunch of medication to Fiona. "These are the medicines you need to take. The instructions are marked on them."

"Okay, thank you."

After returning to her rented apartment, Fiona took three days off from the club, and her request was readily approved. She felt a surge of gratitude. "The club manager is so kind, it's so easy to get leave."

Last time, she had taken three days off to visit the Robinson estate, and it was approved without a hitch. Now, she got another three days off without any questions.

For the next three days, she rested at home. Every day, she would cook meals and take them to the hospital for her mother. She would also take her mother out for walks to get some sun and massage her comatose father.

Apart from these activities, she went to the hospital for her anti-inflammatory IV drips and spent the rest of the time resting at home, not even daring to order takeout.

One day, while lying at home and scrolling through her phone, a news notification popped up on her news app: "Body of a Red-Wanted Criminal Found dead in the City Bay." Curious, she clicked on the eye-catching headline. The photo of the body was blurry, but it included a picture of the criminal from before.

"This guy... he looks so familiar," she murmured to herself. Suddenly, her eyes widened in realization. She quickly pulled out the photos her private investigator had sent her a few days ago.

Comparing the images, she gasped and shot up from the floor. "It's him!"

The man exposed in the news as the deceased was the same driver who had hit her foster parents with his car. He was also the one who had been rescued from the private investigator's grasp.

After hanging up the phone, Fiona felt a warm sense of comfort from Grandma Robinson’s kind words, reminding her to reach out if she needed anything. She gratefully agreed and ended the call."Stop the car."As soon as she hung up, she immediately called for the driver to stop. Gabriel's cold eyes turned to her, his hand gripping her chin and forcing her to look at him. "What, you think having my Grandma's support means you can do whatever you want?""No."Fiona brushed his hand away, showing no interest in his allure. "Gabriel, you might be handsome and rich, but not everyone is a gold-digger or eager to marry you. You don't need to flatter yourself.""As for this situation, it was purely an accident. Upon seeing Sutton, Fiona's heart tightened with fear. She hadn't forgotten that just a few hours ago, she had flooded Gabriel's apartment."Hehe, Assistant Sutton, what a coincidence," she said with a forced smile, already pulling out her phone to quickly find Mrs. Robinson’s number and send her a message. But just as she sent the message, Sutton snatched the phone from her hand. “Sutton, what are you doing?" she feigned anger.Without even glancing at Fiona's phone, Sutton handed it to the bodyguard behind him and said calmly, "This way, please."He then led Fiona to the side. As the car door opened, she bent down to get in and saw a man sitting inside, looking relaxed with his eyes closed as if he were napping. Her heart pounded loudly in her chest. She swallowed nervously and forced a flattering smile. "Mr.Robinson, you... wanted to see me?"The man slightly turned his head, lazily opening his sharp eyes to look at her. "Have you thought about how you want to die?" His words were

Calm down, calm down—She could already sense the growing murderous intent from the Darwins’ Family. If she barged in now, it would only escalate the situation, making them more determined to eliminate her.Though the Darwins’ Family wasn't as powerful as the Robinsons, killing her wouldn't be difficult for them. Moreover, her foster parents were still alive. However, you must transfer the delivery business backend to me and leave the City with your foster parents," Tessa said arrogantly, placing a check in front of her.Fiona glanced at the check, which was for a

Come later," Colleen said, not wanting to waste any more words, as moved to close the door.Fiona, expecting this, quickly pushed the door open and stepped inside. “Fiona, what do you think you're doing? Get out of my house right now!" Colleen shouted, her anger flaring."Mom, who's that?" Tessa asked as she descended the stairs. Seeing Fiona, her face twisted in annoyance. "Fiona, what are you doing here? This is my home."Despite being blood relatives, their disdain for Fiona was unmistakable.Fiona felt a stab in her heart but maintained her composure. "I'm just here to collect the reward for saving Mr. Robinson." Her words elicited a mocking laugh from Colleen. “It was Tessa who saved Mr. Robinson. What does that have to do with you?"Even though Fiona was her biological daughter, Colleen, who had always lived a life of luxury, looked down on Fiona, who had grown up in the countryside. She saw Fiona as uncouth, unreasonable, and unrefi

"Yes, I do. I really do," Fiona stammered, feeling his icy aura, like a grim reaper emerging from the depths of hell. It was the first time she had felt so close to death. Driven by a survival instinct, she nodded vigorously, "Of course I do. But how can I prove it?" “Good." The frost on Gabriel's cold face melted away, and his lips curved into a barely noticeable smile. He leaned in close to her ear, his warm breath tickling the hair at the back of her neck, sending shivers down her spine. After a few seconds, she finally heard him say, "I have a permanent solution." "W-what solution?" "That is...” He paused, seemingly toying with her, until he noticed how tense she was. Then he said, "Death!" "D-death?" Fiona was so terrified that she stumbled back, crashing into the sofa and falling into it, staring blankly at him. "No, no... I don't want that." She absolutely couldn't agree to that. "Gabriel, are you a devil?" Even the usually strong Fiona couldn't help but be scared.
