Chapter 5.

Gabria's POV

A large brown gate with flowers surrounding it. There are also butterflies flying and landing on the flowers. It says 'Hunter Village' on top.

Nice! It was like I was in a fairytale even though I used to think that fairytale-like place wasn't real. But now, wow!  Fairytale places do exist.

I let go of my grip on Shantelle's shoulder as she started to walk towards the front of the big gate. I was about to walk when I felt someone holding my waist. I looked at Knox who was just staring straight ahead.

"Knox," I called him but he didn't look at me. "Knox," I called him again and luckily he looked at me.

"Why? Are you afraid?" he asked worriedly. I was secretly annoyed.

What's with him? Why does he seem to care about me? There is something wrong with this guy. He seemed to be...  concern about me. But no! I won't let myself comfortable with him.

"Your hand," he quickly took his hand from holding my waist and scratched the nape of his neck, and then smiled at me, shyly. I heard Shantelle laugh.

 "Come on," Shantelle called us.

We nodded to her and walked toward her. But we were stopped when we bumped into an invisible wall causing Knox and me to both groan and fall back. I held my forehead.

My eyes widened when we heard something like a warning. Sounds like a warning.

"What's happening?" I asked, confused. No one answered me.

I looked at Knox. My eyes widened when he raised his hand and there was a ball of air above it. His eyes turned gray and then his fangs came out. I flinched when he held me by the waist again and then hid me behind his back.  "Stay there,"

I looked at Shantelle who was now also shock but she slowly scratch the back of her neck as if she remember something. She gave us an apologetic smile. What's with that smile? Why does her smile look like it is dangerous?

We turned to the big gate when it opened. My eyes widened as a large number of people came out with bows, swords, whips, and… shotguns?!

"Oh my god," I said softly as I grabbed Knox's arm who now still had his hand on my waist, and tried to hide me behind him.

My eyes widened as they surrounded us. Knox's grip tightened around my waist and I knew he was nervous.

"What are you doing here, vampires?" A man asked us who looked like an addict with a shotgun, arrogantly.

"You don't care," Knox answered coldly, causing me to look at him. Is he not afraid to die?

Yes, I am a little scared because there are so many people surrounding us and we are just the two of us facing them.

"Answer me, vampires, if you don't want to die in front of us," the man said sternly.

"I'm not afraid of you even if you carry weapons," Knox said seriously. Is he serious?! He's not afraid?!

I saw the irritation of other people and one of them fired at us causing Knox to put his hand on the front. Due to the force of the wind that came out from his palm, the bullet returned its way, causing the man who shot us to be hit in the hand. He let go of the shotgun he was holding while screaming because of the pain.

“Bad vampires!” one person shouted at the same time as he rushed towards us and the others with him followed. We stand still, alerted.

"Do you know how to fight?" I nodded to Knox. "You will be the one who will fight the people who have swords and I will fight the people who are holding a shotgun and arrows." I nodded again.

I rushed at the people who were holding swords. It's unfair for me to fight them because they have stuff that I don't have. But why is there a sword?

What year is it here? Why do I feel like I'm in ancient times? Back in my world, only bows, katanas, and guns were used.

I jumped when I felt someone is going to stab me in the back. I faced him and then punched him before taking the sword and knocking him down. I didn't kill him, I just put him to sleep. I kicked the man who was coming to me and then put him to sleep.

I've been fighting for a while now and my body is getting weak because I'm not used to having many opponents and I'm not angry to fight them. Because I was already weak, I couldn't avoid the sword that landed on my shoulder. I held onto it and felt the blood running down to my arm.

"Everyone, stop!" everyone stop when Shantelle screamed while her fangs were out and her eyes were yellow.

"Stop this now!" we all turned around at the entrance of the gate when there were two elderly women and men standing. Everyone bowed before them.

I didn't bow because I don't know them and I will never bow to people who don't have the right to be respected. They hurt me so I will not respect them.

I was a bit surprised when Knox appeared in front of me. "Are you okay?" He looked at my shoulder and then backed away a little. He covered his nose as his eyes turned gray.

The blood still didn't stop flowing from my shoulder down my arm. I feel weak because of that.

"Gabria!" I looked at Shantelle. She runs to where I am. "Are you okay? Does it hurt? Wait, I'll treat it," she said one after the other.

She put her hand on my shoulder. She was about to heal it when energy hit my back causing me to flew.

My back hit the wall next to me. I groaned because my backbone was crushed. I cried in pain.

 Ouch! Sh*t! It hurts!

I feel Knox and Shantelle come closer to me.

 "Are you okay?" Shantelle asked.

"Are you stupid? You can see that she is struggling with the pain, and you are still asking?" Knox shouted at her and hit her in the head.

“Ouch! Why are you hitting my head?!”  she shouted back at Knox.

"Shut up you two," I whispered. I still groaning in pain.

 “Did you just—”

"Dervy!" we turned to the group of vampires that are all dressed in black.

I heard Shantelle and Knox curse. I frowned as the vampires in front of us looked at me. Their eyes became blacker and their claws grew longer while looking at my bloody arm.

People prepared for the attack. I knew that they already knew that the vampires will attack us—me.

My eyes widened again as one of the vampires ran towards where I was, but he just bumped into the invisible wall.

I just realized that I had entered the invisible wall or shield as they call it. Knox also got in.

I looked at Knox, confused. He also looked at me confused. I know he was confused about why we got in.

"How..." we both looked at Shantelle who was now looking at the both of us.  "How did we get in here if there was a shield?" I asked her.

She pointed to the man who was at the gate with the woman earlier. "Father already allowed you to enter our village," she said with a smile. “Well, Daddy is also a vampire and I know Daddy knows Knox so he let him in," he added.

"But I don't know him," Knox said, frowning.

"Mayor Cendric, what are we going to do with them? They found our place,” a man asked the man who is Shantelle's Father. He points to the three vampires who are trying to tear down the defense with their powers while looking at me, thirstily.

"Knox will take care of that," Shantelle's Father replied while looking at Knox, causing him to stand up with big eyes looking at Shantelle's Father or Mayor Cendric.

"What? Me? Why?" Knox pointed at himself. He nodded at him.

He looked at me as if he was asking me if he could kill those vampires, I'm not sure if that's what he meant by his look. "Why?"

“Can I kill those three?” I'm right, but why does it seem like he doesn't want me to see him kill the vampires? "You might be afraid of me after this," he said, nervously.

Yes, I'm not used to seeing someone die in front of me but I think I need to train myself to see people killing and dying in this place, knowing that in this world, killing is not prohibited because everyone has enemies.

But why is Knox asking me that? Why didn't he just kill them already? Why does he need permission from me? Is he stupid or just like other guys who want me to fall for them?

Of course, I didn't tell him that and just nodded. He smiled at me and quickly got in front of the three vampires.

I turned around when Shantelle touch me. I've never wanted anyone to touch me but just stay patient because it's a vampire, it's not a human, I might just fly away in no time and I don't want that to happen right now because my body hurts too much and my arm is still bleeding.

She put the white cloth on her nose and then put her hand on my shoulder which was still bleeding. I also noticed that his Father's nose was covered while looking at Knox.

Shantelle's hand lit up causing me to close my eyes. I opened my eyes when I felt no light anymore.

I frowned when I saw that Shantelle was also frowning while looking at my wound. I looked at it and cringed, especially when I saw that it still had a wound but it was no longer bleeding.

"Why didn't it disappear?" I will asked her.

"I don't know and this is the first time just happened among all the people that I've treated," she said confused while looking at me.

"Maybe it's not working?" I said to her, questioningly.

"That's impossible. I mean, I've treated many people whose wounds were deeper than yours, but they disappeared immediately," she said.

"How did that happen?" I asked, confused.

"I do not know. I'll just ask Grandma later, the important thing is that your blood is no longer flowing," she answered.

We turned to Knox's when we heard someone shout. My eyes widened when I see the two vampires lying on the ground and slowly turning into ashes. Knox grabbed the neck of the vampire who was already up in the air and trying to get out of Knox's grip.

I was surprised when Knox slowly placed his hand on the vampire's chest causing it to struggle even more. My eyes widened when Knox push his hand inside the vampire's chest and violently grabbed his heart. I covered my mouth because of that.

He's brutal and dangerous. I don't know why my hair on my nape went up a bit when the vampire turned to ash and Knox faced us with a grin as he held the vampire's heart in his left hand. It was still bleeding. I feel like I want to throw up.

His smile disappeared when he saw my face. He quickly let go of the heart and then wiped his hand with the cloth.  Even though he is no longer holding the vampire's heart, I am still sick and shocked by what happened.

Is this how they kill? Brutal? No pity?  Don't they know how precious a creature's life is?

Knox quickly ran towards us but was thrown when he couldn't get inside the shield. He stood up and then wiped the blood from his lips. He looked at Shantelle's Father asking. I am also confused as to well.

"I'm sorry, Knox, but you need to go back to your place,"
